56 - al-Waqi'ah (The Occurrence)

Itha waqaAAati alwaqiAAatu

When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls —

When the Occurrence occurs,

(யுகமுடிவு என்னும்) மாபெரும் சம்பவம் நிகழ்ந்தால்,

மாபெரும் நிகழ்ச்சி(யான இறுதிநாள்) ஏற்பட்டால் -

நிகழக்கூடிய (இறுதிநாளான)து நிகழ்ந்து விடுமானால்_

When the Inevitable Event comes to pass,

Laysa liwaqAAatiha kathibatun

And there can be no denial of its befalling —

There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

அதனை(த் தடை செய்து) பொய்யாக்குவதற்கு ஒன்றுமில்லை.

அந்நிகழ்ச்சியைப் பொய்யாக்குவது எதுவுமில்லை.

அது நிகழ்வதைப் பொய்யாக்கக்கூடியது (எதுவும்) இல்லை.

there will be none to deny its occurrence;

Khafidatun rafiAAatun

Bringing low (some — those who will enter Hell) exalting (others — those who will enter Paradise). (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

அது (பலரின் பதவிகளைத்) தாழ்த்திவிடும். (பலரின் பதவிகளை) உயர்த்திவிடும்.

அது (தீயோரைத்) தாழ்த்தி விடும்; (நல்லோரை) உயர்த்தி விடும்.

அது (தீயோரைத்) தாழ்த்தி, (நல்லோரை) உயர்த்திவிடக் கூடியது.

it will bring some low and raise others up.

Itha rujjati alardu rajjan

When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake.

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

(அச்சமயம்) மிக்க பலமான பூகம்பம் ஏற்பட்டு,

பூமி நடுக்கத்தால் நடுக்கமடையச் செய்யும் போது.

பூமி, மிக பலமான அசைவாக அசைக்கப்பட்டால்,

When the earth will be shaken violently,

Wabussati aljibalu bassan

And the mountains will be powdered to dust,

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

மலைகள் (பெயர்ந்து ஒன்றோடொன்று மோதி) தூள் தூளாகப் பறந்துவிடும்.

இன்னும் மலைகள் தூள் தூளாக ஆக்கப்படும் போது,

இன்னும், மலைகள் தூள் தூளாக ஆக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டால்,

and the mountains crushed to pieces,

Fakanat habaan munbaththan

So that they will become floating dust particles.

And become dust dispersing.

அவைகள் (ஆகாயத்தில்) தூசிகளாகப் பறந்துவிடும்.

பின்னர், அது பரப்பப்பட்ட புழுதி ஆகிவிடும்.

அப்போது அவைகள் பரத்தப்பட்ட புழுதிகளாக ஆகிவிடும் (அந்நாளில்),

and turn to scattered dust,

Wakuntum azwajan thalathatan

And you (all) will be in three groups.

And you become [of] three kinds:

(அந்நாளில்) நீங்கள் மூன்று பிரிவுகளாகப் பிரிந்து விடுவீர்கள்.

(அப்போது) நீங்களும் மூன்று பிரிவினர்களாகி விடுவீர்கள்.

நீங்களும் மூன்று வகையினர்களாக ஆகி விடுவீர்கள்.

then you are sorted into three groups:

Faashabu almaymanati ma ashabu almaymanati

So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands) – how (fortunate) will be those on the Right Hand! (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise).

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

(முதலாவது:) வலப்பக்கத்திலுள்ளவர்கள். வலப்பக்கத்திலுள்ள இவர்கள் யார்? (என்பதை அறிவீர்களா? அவர்கள் மிக பாக்கியவான்கள்.)

(முதலாமவர்) வலது பாரிசத்திலுள்ளோர் - வலது பாரிசத்துக்காரர் யார்? (என்பதை அறிவீர்களா?)

(முதலாம் வகையினர்) வலப்பக்கத்தார்_வலப்பக்கத்தாரின் தன்மை என்ன?

the people of the right – how blessed will be the people of the right!

Waashabu almashamati ma ashabu almashamati

And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands) – how (unfortunate) will be those on the Left Hand! (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell).

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

(இரண்டாவது:) இடப்பக்கத்திலுள்ளவர்கள். இடப்பக்கத் திலுள்ள இவர்கள் யார்? (என்பதை அறிவீர்களா? இவர்கள் மிக்க துரதிர்ஷ்டசாலிகள்.)

(இரண்டாமவர்) இடது பாரிசத்திலுள்ளோர் - இடது பாரிசத்திலுள்ளோர் யார்? (என அறிவீர்களா?)

(இரண்டாம் வகையினர்) இடப்பக்கத்தார்_இடப்பக்கத்தாரின் தன்மை என்ன?

The people of the left – how miserable will be the people of the left!

Waalssabiqoona alssabiqoona

And the foremost ones [(in Islâmic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call to embrace Islâm] will be foremost (in Paradise).

And the forerunners, the forerunners -

(மூன்றாவது:) முன் சென்றுவிட்டவர்கள். (இவர்கள் நன்மையான காரியங்களில் மற்ற யாவரையும் விட) முன் சென்று விட்டவர்கள்.

(மூன்றாமவர் நம்பிக்கையில்) முந்தியவர்கள் (மறுமையிலும்) முந்தியவர்களே யாவார்கள்.

(மூன்றாம் வகையினர் நம்பிக்கைக் கொள்வதில்) முந்திக் கொண்டவர்கள், (இவர்கள் சுவனத்தின்பால்) முந்திக் கொண்டவர்களாவர்.

And the forerunners [in faith] are the forerunners [in Paradise].

Olaika almuqarraboona

These will be the nearest (to Allâh).

Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]

இவர்கள் தங்கள் (இறைவனுக்கு) மிக்க நெருங்கியவர்கள்.

இவர்கள் (இறைவனுக்கு) அண்மையிலாக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்.

இவர்கள் தாம் (தங்கள் இரட்சகன் பக்கம் மிக்க) நெருக்கமாக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்.

They are the nearest ones [to Allah],

Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi

In the Gardens of Delight (Paradise).

In the Gardens of Pleasure,

இவர்கள் இன்பம் தரும் சுவனபதியில் இருப்பார்கள்.

இவர்கள் பாக்கியங்களுள்ள (சுவனச்) சோலைகளில் இருப்பர்.

அருட்கொடைகளுள்ள சுவனபதிகளில் (இக்கூட்டத்தினர் இருப்பர்.)

in Gardens of Bliss,

Thullatun mina alawwaleena

A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islâm).

A [large] company of the former peoples

(இவர்களுடன்) முதலாவது வகுப்பாரில் ஒரு பெருங் கூட்டத்தினரும்,

முதலாமவரில் ஒரு பெருங் கூட்டத்தினரும்,

(இவற்றில்) முன்னவர்களில் ஒரு பெருங்கூட்டத்தினரும்,

many from the early generations,

Waqaleelun mina alakhireena

And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later generations.

And a few of the later peoples,

பின்னுள்ளோரில் ஒரு சொற்ப தொகையினரும் இருப்பார்கள்.

பின்னவர்களில், ஒரு சொற்பத்தொகையினரும் -

பின்னுள்ளோரில் ஒரு சொற்பத் தொகையினரும்_

and a few from the later generations.

AAala sururin mawdoonatin

(They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones.

On thrones woven [with ornament],

பொன் வேலைப்பாடுள்ள உன்னத கட்டில்கள் மீது,

(பொன்னிழைகளால்) ஆக்கப் பெற்ற கட்டில்களின் மீது -

பொன்னிழைகளால் ஆக்கப்பட்ட உன்னதக் கட்டில்கள் மீது இருப்பார்கள்.

[They will be seated] on jeweled couches,

Muttakieena AAalayha mutaqabileena

Reclining thereon, face to face.

Reclining on them, facing each other.

ஒருவரை ஒருவர் முகம் நோக்கி(ப் பஞ்சணையின் மீது) சாய்ந்தவர்களாக இருப்பார்கள்.

ஒருவரையொருவர் முன்னோக்கியவர்களாக, அவற்றின் மீது சாய்ந்திருப்பார்கள்.

ஒருவரையொருவர் முன்னோக்கியவர்களாக, அவற்றின் மீது சாய்ந்தவர்களாக இருப்பார்கள்.

reclining on them, facing one another.

Yatoofu AAalayhim wildanun mukhalladoona

Immortal boys will go around them (serving),

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

என்றென்றுமே குழந்தைகளாக இருக்கக்கூடிய சிறுவர்கள் (பணி செய்ய எந்நேரமும்) இவர்களைச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்;

நிலையான இளமையுடைய இளைஞர்கள் (இவர்கள் பணிக்காகச்) சுற்றிக் கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்.

என்றும் நிலையான (இளமையுடையோராக இருக்கும்) சிறுவர்கள், (பணிபுரிய) இவர்களைச் சுற்றிக் கொண்டிருப்பார்கள்.

They will be served by immortal youths

Biakwabin waabareeqa wakasin min maAAeenin

With cups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine,

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

இன்பமான பானம் நிறைந்த குவளைகளையும், கெண்டிகளையும், கிண்ணங்களையும் தூக்கிக் கொண்டு (அவர்களைச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்.)

தெளிந்த பானங்களால் நிறம்பிய கிண்ணங்களையும், கெண்டிகளையும், குவளைகளையும் கொண்டு (அவர்களிடம் சுற்றி வருவார்கள்).

தெளிவான (உயர்மது) பானத்திலிருந்து (நிரப்பப்பட்டு)ள்ள கிண்ணங்களையும் கெண்டிகளையும், குவளைகளையும் (தூக்கிக்) கொண்டு (அவர்களைச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்).

with cups, pitchers, and glasses [of wine] from a flowing spring,

La yusaddaAAoona AAanha wala yunzifoona

Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head nor any intoxication.

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

(அப்பானங்களால்) இவர்களுக்குத் தலை நோயும் ஏற்படாது; இவர்கள் புத்தியும் மாறாது.

(அப்பானங்களைப் பருகும்) அவர்கள் அவற்றினால் தலை நோய்க்காளாக மாட்டார்கள்; மதிமயங்கவுமாட்டார்கள்.

அ(ம் மதுவை அருந்துவ)தனால் தலைவலிக்குள்ளாகமாட்டார்கள், மதி மயக்கத்திற்கும் உள்ளாக மாட்டார்கள்,

which will neither cause any headache nor intoxication,

Wafakihatin mimma yatakhayyaroona

And with fruit that they may choose.

And fruit of what they select

இவர்கள் பிரியப்பட்ட கனி வர்க்கங்களையும்,

இன்னும் அவர்கள் தெரிந்தெடுக்கும் கனி வகைகளையும் -

இவர்கள் (பிரியப்பட்டு) தேர்ந்தெடுக்கின்றவற்றிலிருந்து கனி(வர்க்கங்)களோடும்.

along with fruits of their choice,

Walahmi tayrin mimma yashtahoona

And with the flesh of fowls that they desire.

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

விரும்பிய பட்சிகளின் மாமிசத்தையும் (கைகளில் ஏந்தி சுற்றி வருவார்கள்).

விரும்பும் பட்சிகளின் மாமிசத்தையும் (கொண்டு அவ்விளைஞர்கள் வருவார்கள்).

அவர்கள் விரும்பக்கூடியவற்றிலிருந்து பட்சிகளின் மாமிசத்தோடும் (அச்சிறுவர்கள் சுற்றி வருவர்).

and flesh of birds that they may desire.

Wahoorun AAeenun

And (there will be) Hûr (fair females) with wide lovely eyes [as wives for Al-Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2)],

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

(அங்கு இவர்களுக்கு) "ஹூருல் ஈன்" (என்னும் கண்ணழகி களான மனைவி)களும் இருப்பார்கள்.

(அங்கு இவர்களுக்கு) ஹூருல் ஈன் (என்னும் நெடிய கண்களுடைய) கன்னியர் இருப்பர்.

(அங்கு இவர்களுக்கு) ‘ஹூருல்ஈன்’ (என்னும் கண்ணழகிகளான மனைவிகளும் இருப்பார்கள்.

And [they will have] maidens of wide gorgeous eyes,

Kaamthali allului almaknooni

Like the preserved pearls.

The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

அவர்கள் பேணிப் பாதுகாக்கப்படும் முத்துக்களைப் போல் இருப்பார்கள்.

மறைக்கப்பட்ட முத்துக்களைப் போல் அவர்கள் (இருப்பார்கள்).

(வெண்மையில் சிப்பிக்குள்) மறைக்கப்பட்ட முத்துக்களைப் போல் (அவர்கள்) இருப்பார்கள்.

like pristine pearls,

Jazaan bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

A reward for what they used to do.

As reward for what they used to do.

இவைகள் அனைத்தும் இவர்கள் செய்த நன்மைகளுக்குக் கூலியாகக் கிடைக்கும்.

(இவையாவும்) சுவர்க்க வாசிகள் (இம்மையில் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த) செயல்களுக்கு கூலியாகும்.

(இவைகள் யாவும்) இவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த (நன்மையான) செயல்களுக்குக் கூலியாக(க் கிடைக்கும்.)

as a reward for what they used to do.

La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwan wala tatheeman

No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting).

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

அங்கு இவர்கள் ஒழுங்கீனமான வார்த்தைகளையும், வீணான பேச்சுக்களையும் செவியுற மாட்டார்கள்.

அங்கு இவர்கள் வீணானதையும், பாவமுண்டாக்குவதையும் (கொண்ட பேச்சுகளைச்) செவியுற மாட்டார்கள்.

அதில் அவர்கள் வீணானதையும், அவர்களைப் பாவத்தில் ஆக்கக்கூடியதையும் செவியுற மாட்டார்கள்.

They will not hear therein any idle talk or sinful speech,

Illa qeelan salaman salaman

But only the saying of: Salâm! Salâm! (greetings with peace)!

Only a saying: "Peace, peace."

ஆயினும், ஸலாம்! ஸலாம்! (சாந்தியும், சமாதானமும்) என்ற சப்தத்தையே செவியுறுவார்கள்.

“ஸலாம், ஸலாம்” என்னும் சொல்லையே (செவியுறுவார்கள்).

ஆயினும், “ஸலாமன், ஸலாமன்” (சாந்தி, சாந்தி) என்ற சொல்லையன்றி (மற்றெதையும் செவியுறமாட்டார்கள்).

except the words of peace, peace.

Waashabu alyameeni ma ashabu alyameeni

And those on the Right Hand – how (fortunate) will be those on the Right Hand?

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

வலப்பக்கத்தில் உள்ளவர்களின் பாக்கியம்தான் என்ன! வலப்பக்கத்தில் இருக்கும் அவர்கள்,

இன்னும் வலப்புறத்தார்கள் - வலப்புறத்தார்கள் யார்? (என்பதை அறிவீர்களா?)

மேலும், வலப்பக்கத்தார்_வலப் பக்கத்தாரின் நிலை என்ன? (அல்லாஹ் எதை அவர்களுக்குத் தயாராக்கி வைத்திருக்கிறான்?)

The people of the right – how blessed will be the people of the right!

Fee sidrin makhdoodin

(They will be) among thornless lote trees,

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed

முள்ளில்லாத இலந்தை மரத்தின் கீழும்,

(அவர்கள்) முள்ளில்லாத இலந்தை மரத்தின் கீழும்;

அவர்கள் முள்ளற்ற இலந்தை மரத்தி(ன் அடியி)லும்,

[They will be] amid thornless lote trees,

Watalhin mandoodin

And among Talh (banana trees) with fruits piled one above another,

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

(நுனி முதல்) அடி வரையில் குலை குலைகளாகத் தொங்கும் (பூவில்லா) வாழை மரத்தின் கீழும்,

(நுனி முதல் அடிவரை) குலை குலையாகப் பழங்களுடைய வாழை மரத்தின் கீழும்;

(மேலிருந்து கீழ்வரையில்) குலைகள் தொங்கும் வாழை மரத்தி(ன் அடியி)லும்,

and clusters of bananas,

Wathillin mamdoodin

And in shade long-extended,

And shade extended

அடி சாயாத நிழலிலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

இன்னும், நீண்ட நிழலிலும்,

நீண்ட நிழலிலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

and shade long-extended,

Wamain maskoobin

And by water flowing constantly,

And water poured out

அங்கு(தொடர்ந்து) நீரைக் கொட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ஊற்றுக்களும்,

(சதா) ஒலித்தோடிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் நீரின் அருகிலும்,

(அல்லாஹ்வினால்) ஓடவிடப்பட்ட நீரி(ன் அருகாமையி)லும் (இருப்பர்).

and flowing water,

Wafakihatin katheeratin

And fruit in plenty,

And fruit, abundant [and varied],

ஏராளமான கனி வர்க்கங்களும் உண்டு.

ஏராளமான கனிவகைகளின் மத்தியிலும் -

ஏராளமான கனிவர்க்கங்களுக்கு மத்தியிலும்_

and abundant fruit –

La maqtooAAatin wala mamnooAAatin

Whose supply is not cut off (by change of season) nor are they out of reach.

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

அதன் கனிகள் (புசிக்க) தடுக்கவும் படாது. (பறிப்பதால்) குறைவுமுறாது. (ஒன்றைப் பறித்தால், மற்றொன்று அதே இடத்தில் காணப்படும்.)

அவை அற்றுப் போகாதவை, (உண்ணத்) தடுக்கப்படாதவை -

(அதன், கனிகள் கால வித்தியாசமின்றி எச்சமயத்திலும் கிடைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்குமே தவிர, அவை) அற்றுப்போகாதவை, அன்றியும், (புசிப்பதற்குத்) தடுக்கப்படாதவை.

neither ceasing nor restricted –

Wafurushin marfooAAatin

And on couches or thrones, raised high.

And [upon] beds raised high.

உயர்ந்த மேலான விரிப்புகளில் (அமர்ந்திருப்பார்கள்).

மேலும், உன்னதமான விரிப்புகளில் (அமர்ந்திருப்பர்).

(ஒன்றின் மேல் ஒன்றாக) உயரமாக்கப்பட்ட விரிப்புகளிலும் (அமர்ந்திருப்பார்கள்).

and mattresses raised high [on beds].

Inna anshanahunna inshaan

Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation.

Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation

(அவர்களுடன், கண்ணழகிகளாகிய ஹூருல் ஈன் என்னும் கன்னியர்களும் இருப்பார்கள். அவர்கள் ஒருவராலும் பெற்றெடுக் கப்பட்டவர்கள் அல்லர்.) நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்களைச் (சொந்தமாக இவர்களுக்கெனப் புதிதாகவே) படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

நிச்சயமாக (ஹூருல் ஈன் என்னும் பெண்களைப்) புதிய படைப்பாக, நாம் உண்டாக்கி;

நிச்சயமாக நாம் (ஹூருல் ஈன்களான) அவர்களைப் பிரத்தியேகமாக (இவர்களுக்கெனப் புதிதாகவே) படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

Indeed, We have perfectly created them [their spouses],

FajaAAalnahunna abkaran

And made them virgins.

And made them virgins,

கன்னியர்களாக அவர்களைப் படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

அப்பெண்களைக் கன்னிகளாகவும்;

அப்பால் கன்னியர்களாக அவர்களை ஆக்கியிருக்கிறோம்.

and have made them virgins,

AAuruban atraban

Loving (their husbands only), (and) of equal age.

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

அவர்கள் தன் கணவனையே காதலிக்கும் சம வயதுடையவர்கள்.

(தம் துணைவர் மீது) பாசமுடையோராகவும், சம வயதினராகவும்,

(தம் கணவர்களையே) நேசிக்கக் கூடியவர்களாக, சமவயதுடைவர்களாக (அவர்களை ஆக்கியுள்ளோம்).

loving and of equal age,

Liashabi alyameeni

For those on the Right Hand.

For the companions of the right [who are]

(முன்னர் வர்ணிக்கப்பட்ட) இவைகள் வலது பக்கத்திலுள்ள வர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்.

வலப்புறத்தோருக்காக (ஆக்கி வைத்துள்ளோம்).  

(முன்னர் கூறப்பட்டது) வலப்பக்கத்தார்க்குரியதாகும்.

for the people of the right,

Thullatun mina alawwaleena

A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islâm).

(இவர்களுடன்) முன்னுள்ளோரில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தினரும்,

முன்னுள்ளோரில் ஒரு கூட்டமும்,

(இவர்களுடன்) முன்னோர்களில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தினரும்,

many from the earlier generations,

Wathullatun mina alakhireena

And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later generations.

And a company of the later peoples.

பின்னுள்ளோரில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தினரும் இருப்பார்கள்.

பின்னுள்ளோரில் ஒரு கூட்டமும் (வலப்புறத்தோராக இருப்பார்கள்).

பின்னோர்களில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தினரும் (வலப்பக்கத்தைச் சார்ந்தோரில்) இருப்பார்கள்.

and many from the later generations.

Waashabu alshshimali ma ashabu alshshimali

And those on the Left Hand – how (unfortunate) will be those on the Left Hand?

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

இடப்பக்கத்தில் உள்ளவர்களோ, இவர்களின் துர்ப்பாக்கியம் தான் என்னே!

இடது பாரிசத்திலுள்ளவர்களோ இடது பாரிசத்திலுள்ளவர்கள் யார்? (என்று அறிவீர்களா?)

மேலும், இடப்புறத்தார், இடப்புறத்தார்க்குரிய தன்மை என்ன?

And the people of the left – how wretched will be the people of the left!

Fee samoomin wahameemin

In fierce hot wind and boiling water,

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

(அவர்கள்) கொடிய வெப்பத்திலும், முற்றிலும் கொதிக்கும் நீரிலும்,

(அவர்கள்) கொடிய அனல் காற்றிலும், கொதிக்கும் நீரிலும் -

(அவர்கள்) கொடிய அனல்காற்றிலும், முடிவுறக்காய்ச்சப்பட்ட கொதிக்கும் நீரிலும்_

[They will be] in scorching wind and scalding water,

Wathillin min yahmoomin

And shadow of black smoke,

And a shade of black smoke,

அடர்ந்த இருண்ட புகையின் மத்தியிலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

அடர்ந்து இருண்ட புகையின் நிழலிலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

அடர்ந்த இருண்ட புகையின் நிழலிலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

in the shade of black smoke,

La baridin wala kareemin

(That shadow) neither cool nor (even) pleasant,

Neither cool nor beneficial.

(அங்குக்) குளிர்ச்சியான பானமும் இருக்காது; சங்கையான எதுவும் இருக்காது.

(அங்கு) குளிர்ச்சியுமில்லை; நலமுமில்லை.

(அங்கு) குளிர்ச்சியுமில்லை, எவ்வித சுகமுமில்லை.

neither cool nor refreshing.

Innahum kanoo qabla thalika mutrafeena

Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury,

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

இதற்கு முன்னர் இவர்கள், நிச்சயமாக பெரும் சுகபோகங்களில் இருந்தனர்.

நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் இதற்கு முன்னர் (உலகத்தில்) சுகபோகிகளாக இருந்தனர்.

நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் இதற்கு முன்னர் பெரும் சுகபோக வாழ்வுடையவர்களாக இருந்தனர்.

Indeed, they used to be in luxuries before,

Wakanoo yusirroona AAala alhinthi alAAatheemi

And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allâh, committing murder and other crimes)

And they used to persist in the great violation,

எனினும், பெரும் பாவங்களைச் செய்வதில் உறுதியாக இருந்தனர்.

ஆனால், அவர்கள் பெரும் பாவத்தின் மீது நிலைத்தும் இருந்தனர்.

(ஆனால்) அவர்கள் பெரும் பாவத்தின் மீது (பிடிவாதம் கொண்டோராக) நிலைத்தும் இருந்தனர்.

and persisted in the gravest sin [of polytheism].

Wakanoo yaqooloona aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona

And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected?

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

அன்றி, என்னே! நாம் இறந்து (உக்கி) மண்ணாகவும், எலும்பாகவும் போனதன் பின்னர், மெய்யாகவே நாம் (உயிர் கொடுத்து) எழுப்பப்படுவோமா?

மேலும், அவர்கள்: “நாம் மரித்து மண்ணாகவும், எலும்புகளாகவும் ஆகி விட்டாலும், நாம் மீண்டும் நிச்சயமாக எழுப்பப்படுவோமா?” என்று கேட்டுக் கொண்டு இருந்தனர்.

“நாம் இறந்து (உக்கி) மண்ணாகவும், எலும்புகளாகவும் ஆகிவிட்டாலுமா நிச்சயமாக நாம் (உயிர் கொடுத்து) எழுப்பப்படுபவர்கள்?” என்று கூறக்கூடியவர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள்.

They used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, will we really be raised again?

Awa abaona alawwaloona

"And also our forefathers?"

And our forefathers [as well]?"

(அவ்வாறே) முன் சென்றுபோன நம்முடைய மூதாதையர்களுமா (எழுப்பப்படுவார்கள்)? என்று (பரிகாசமாகக்) கூறிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

“அல்லது, முன்னோர்களான நம் தந்தையருமா? (எழுப்பப்படுவர்?” என்றும் கூறினர்.)

“(அவ்வாறே) முன்னோர்களான நம்முடைய மூதாதையருமா? (எழுப்பப் படுவார்கள்” என்று பரிகாசமாகக் கூறிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்).

And our forefathers as well?”

Qul inna alawwaleena waalakhireena

Say (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times.

Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples

(நபியே!) நீங்கள் கூறுங்கள்: நிச்சயமாக உங்களில் முன்னுள்ளோரும் சரி, பின்னுள்ளோரும் சரி;

(நபியே!) நீர் கூறும்: “(நிச்சயமாக உங்களில்) முன்னோர்களும், பின்னோர்களும்.

(நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக: “நிச்சயமாக (உங்களில்) முன்னோர்களும், பின்னோர்களும்_

Say, [O Prophet], “Indeed, the former and later generations

LamajmooAAoona ila meeqati yawmin maAAloomin

"All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day.

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

நீங்கள் யாவருமே குறிப்பிட்ட ஒரு நாளில் தவறாமல் (உயிர் கொடுத்து எழுப்பப்பட்டு) ஒன்று சேர்க்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

“குறிப்பிட்ட நாளின் ஒரு நேரத்தில் (நீங்கள் யாவரும்) ஒன்று கூட்டப்படுவீர்கள்.

(நீங்கள் அனைவரும்) குறிப்பிட்ட நாளின் ஒரு நேரத்தில் திட்டமாக (உயிர் கொடுத்து எழுப்பப்பட்டு) ஒன்று சேர்க்கப்படுபவர்கள்.”

will be gathered on a predetermined Day.

Thumma innakum ayyuha alddalloona almukaththiboona

"Then moreover, verily, – you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)!

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

அதற்குப் பின்னர், (இந்நாளைப்) பொய்யாக்கி வழி கெட்டவர்களே! நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள்,

அதற்குப் பின்னர்: “பொய்யர்களாகிய வழி கேடர்களே! நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள்,

“பின்னர், (இந்நாளைப்) பொய்யக்கியோரான வழி கெட்டவர்களே! நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள்_

Then you, O misguided deniers,

Laakiloona min shajarin min zaqqoomin

"You verily, will eat of the trees of Zaqqûm.

Will be eating from trees of zaqqum

கள்ளி மரத்தையே புசிப்பீர்கள்.

ஜக்கூம் (என்னும் கள்ளி) மரத்திலிருந்தே நீங்கள் புசிப்பவர்கள்.

(ஜக்கூம் எனும்) கள்ளிமரத்திலிருந்து உண்ணக்கூடியவர்கள்.

will surely eat from the tree of zaqqūm,

Famalioona minha albutoona

"Then you will fill your bellies therewith,

And filling with it your bellies

அதைக்கொண்டே உங்களுடைய வயிற்றை நிரப்புவீர்கள்.

ஆகவே, “அதைக் கொண்டே வயிறுகளை நிறப்புவீர்கள்.

“அதைக் கொண்டே (உங்களுடைய) வயிறுகளை நிரப்பக்கூடியவர்கள்.

filling your bellies with it,

Fashariboona AAalayhi mina alhameemi

"And drink boiling water on top of it.

And drinking on top of it from scalding water

அதற்குப் பின்னர் மிக அதிகமாகக் கொதிக்கும் சுடுநீரைக் குடிப்பீர்கள்.

அப்புறம் அதன்மேல் கொதிக்கும் நீரையே குடிப்பீர்கள்.

அப்பால், அதற்குமேல் கடுமையாகக் கொதிக்கும் நீரிலிருந்து குடிக்கக் கூடியவர்கள்.

and drinking scalding water on top of it,

Fashariboona shurba alheemi

"And you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!"

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

(அதுவும் அவசர அவசரமாக) தாகித்த ஒட்டகம் குடிப்பதைப் போல் நீங்கள் குடிப்பீர்கள்.

“பின்னும் ஹீம் - தாகமுள்ள ஒட்டகை குடிப்பதைப் போல் குடிப்பீர்கள்.”

(நோயினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு) கடும் தாகதிற்குள்ளான ஒட்டகம் குடிப்பதைப் போல் குடிக்கக்கூடியவர்கள்.

drinking like thirsty camels do.”

Hatha nuzuluhum yawma alddeeni

That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense!

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

கூலி கொடுக்கும் நாளில் அவர்களுக்கு அளிக்கப்படும் விருந்து இதுதான்.

இதுதான் நியாயத் தீர்ப்பு நாளில் அவர்களுக்கு விருந்தாகும்.

இது கூலி கொடுக்கும் நாளில் அவர்களுக்குரிய விருந்தாகும்.

This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment.

Nahnu khalaqnakum falawla tusaddiqoona

We created you, then why do you believe not?

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

(வழிகெட்டவர்களே!) நாமே உங்களை (முதன் முறையாக) படைத்திருக்கின்றோம். (ஆகவே, மறுமுறை உங்களை உயிர்ப்பிப்பதை) நீங்கள் உண்மையென நம்ப வேண்டாமா?

நாமே உங்களைப் படைத்தோம். எனவே, (நாம் கூறுவதை) நீங்கள் உண்மையென்று நம்ப வேண்டாமா?

நாமே உங்களை (முதன் முறையாக)ப் படைத்திருக்கின்றோம், (ஆகவே, மீண்டும் உங்களை உயிர்ப்பிப்பதை) நீங்கள் உண்மையென நம்ப வேண்டாமா?”

It is We Who created you; will you not then believe [in resurrection]?

Afaraaytum ma tumnoona

Then tell Me (about) the (human) semen that you emit.

Have you seen that which you emit?

நீங்கள் செலுத்தும் இந்திரியத்தைக் கவனித்தீர்களா?

(கர்ப்பப் பையில்) நீங்கள் செலுத்தும் இந்திரியத்தைக் கவனித்தீர்களா?

ஆகவே, (பெண்ணின் கர்ப்பத்தில்) நீங்கள் செலுத்திவிடுகின்ற (விந்தான)தைப் பார்த்தீர்களா?

Have you thought about the semen that you emit?

Aantum takhluqoonahu am nahnu alkhaliqoona

Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator?

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

அதனை (சிசுவாக) நீங்கள் படைக்கின்றீர்களா அல்லது நாம் படைக்கின்றோமா?

அதை நீங்கள் படைக்கிறீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் படைக்கின்றோமா?

அதனை(க்குழந்தையாக) நீங்கள் படைக்கின்றீர்களா? அல்லது நாம்தாம் படைப்பவர்களா?

Is it you who create it, or is it We Who are the Creator?

Nahnu qaddarna baynakumu almawta wama nahnu bimasbooqeena

We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped,

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

-

உங்களுக்கிடையில் மரணத்தையும் நாமே ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளோம்; எனவே நம்மை எவரும் மிகைக்க முடியாது.

நாமே உங்களுக்கிடையில் மரணத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளோம் நாம் தோற்கடிக்கப்படுவோரும் அல்லர்.

We have ordained death among you, and nothing can overcome us

AAala an nubaddila amthalakum wanunshiakum fee ma la taAAlamoona

To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not.

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

நாம்தான் உங்களுக்கு மரணத்தை நிர்ணயித்தோம். (உங்களுக்குப் பதிலாக) உங்களைப் போன்றவர்களை மாற்றிக் கொண்டு வருவதற்கும், இன்னும் உங்களை நீங்கள் அறியாத ஒரு ரூபத்தில் அமைத்து விடுவதற்கும் நாம் இயலாதவர்கள் அல்ல.

(அன்றியும் உங்களைப் போக்கி விட்டு) உங்கள் போன்றோரை பதிலாகக் கொண்டு வந்து நீங்கள் அறியாத உருவத்தில் உங்களை உண்டாக்கவும் (நாம் இயலாதவர்கள் அல்ல).

(அன்றி) நாம் (உங்களை அழித்து விட்டு உங்களுடைய இடத்தில்) உங்களைப் போன்றோரை மாற்றிவிடவும், இன்னும் நீங்கள் அறியாதவற்றில், உங்களை நாம் அமைத்துவிடுவதற்கும் (நாம் இயலாதவர்களன்று).

from transforming you and recreating you in forms that you do not know.

Walaqad AAalimtumu alnnashata aloola falawla tathakkaroona

And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember (or take heed)?

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

முதல்முறை (உங்களைப்) படைத்ததை நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் நன்கறிந்து இருக்கின்றீர்கள். (இதனைக் கொண்டு) நீங்கள் நல்லறிவு பெற வேண்டாமா? (இவ்வாறுதான் மறுமையிலும் நாம் உங்களை உயிர் கொடுத்து எழுப்புவோம்.)

முதல் முறையாக (நாம் உங்களைப்) படைத்தது பற்றி நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள் - எனவே (அதிலிருந்து நினைவு கூர்ந்து) நீங்கள் உணர்வு பெற வேண்டாமா?

மேலும், (உங்களுடைய) முதலாவதான உற்பத்தியை நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் நன்கறிந்திருக்கின்றீர்கள்! (இதனைக் கொண்டு) நீங்கள் நல்லுணர்வு பெற வேண்டாமா?

You are well aware of the first creation; why do you not then take heed?

Afaraaytum ma tahruthoona

Then tell Me about the seed that you sow in the ground.

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

(நீங்கள் பூமியில்) பயிரிடுபவைகளைக் கவனித்தீர்களா?

(இப்பூமியில்) விதைப்பதை நீங்கள் கவனித்தீர்களா?

நீங்கள் (பூமியைக்கிளறி அதில் வித்துக்களை) விதைப்பதைப் பார்த்தீர்களா?

Have you thought about what you sow?

Aantum tazraAAoonahu am nahnu alzzariAAoona

Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower?

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

அதனை, நீங்கள் (முளைப்பித்துப்) பயிராக்குகின்றீர்களா அல்லது நாம் பயிராக்குகின்றோமா?

அதனை நீங்கள் முளைக்கச் செய்கின்றீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் முளைக்கச் செய்கின்றோமா?

அதனை நீங்கள் முளைக்கச் செய்கின்றீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் தாம் முளைப்பிக்கச் செய்பவர்களா?

Is it you who cause it grow, or is it We Who make it grow?

Law nashao lajaAAalnahu hutaman fathaltum tafakkahoona

Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). (Tafsir Ibn Kathîr)

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

நாம் விரும்பினால், அதனை (விளையாத) சாவிகளாக்கி விடுவோம். அந்நேரத்தில் நீங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு,

நாம் நாடினால் திட்டமாக அதனைக் கூளமாய் ஆக்கிவிடுவோம் - அப்பால் நீங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டுக் கொண்டு இருப்பீர்கள்.

நாம் நாடினால், திட்டமாக அதனைக்கூளமாக ஆக்கியிருப்போம், பின்னர் (அதன் தீய நிலை கண்டு) நீங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்படுவோராய் ஆகிவிடுவீர்கள்.

If We willed, We could reduce your harvest to crumble, leaving you to wonder and lament,

Inna lamughramoona

(Saying): "We are indeed Mughramûn (i.e. ruined or have lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation)! (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî)

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

"நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் நஷ்டமடைந்து விட்டோம்,

“நிச்சயமாக நாம் கடன் பட்டவர்களாகி விட்டோம்.

“நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் கடன்பட்டவர்களாகி (தண்டிக்கப்பட்டு) விட்டோம்.

“We suffered loss,

Bal nahnu mahroomoona

"Nay, but we are deprived!"

Rather, we have been deprived."

அன்றி, எங்களுக்கு ஒன்றுமே கிடைக்காது போயிற்று" (என்றும் கூறிக் கொண்டிருப்பீர்கள்).

“மேலும், (பயிர்களிலிருந்து எதுவும் பெற முடியாதவர்களாகத்) தடுக்கப்பட்டு விட்டோம்” (என்றும் கூறிக் கொண்டிருப்பீர்கள்).

இல்லை, நாங்கள் (பயிரை அடைவதிலிருந்து) தடுக்கப்பட்டு விட்டோம்” (என்றும் கூறிக்கொண்டிருப்பீர்கள்).

rather, we are deprived.”

Afaraaytumu almaa allathee tashraboona

Then tell Me about the water that you drink.

And have you seen the water that you drink?

நீங்கள் குடிக்கின்ற தண்ணீரைக் கவனித்தீர்களா?

அன்றியும், நீங்கள் குடிக்கும் நீரைக் கவனித்தீர்களா?

நீங்கள் குடிக்கின்றீர்களே அந்நீரைப் பார்த்தீர்களா?

Have you thought about the water that you drink?

Aantum anzaltumoohu mina almuzni am nahnu almunziloona

Is it you who cause it from the rain clouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down?

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

மேகத்திலிருந்து அதனை நீங்கள் பொழிய வைக்கின்றீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் பொழிய வைக்கின்றோமா?

மேகத்திலிருந்து அதை நீங்கள் இறக்கினீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் இறக்குகிறோமா?

அதை மேகத்திலிருந்து நீங்கள் இறக்குகின்றீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் தாம் இறக்கிவைப்பவர்களா?

Is it you who bring it down from the clouds, or is it We Who bring it down?

Law nashao jaAAalnahu ojajan falawla tashkuroona

If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable); why then do you not give thanks (to Allâh)?

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

நாம் விரும்பினால் அதனை (நீங்கள் குடிக்க முடியாத) உப்புநீராக ஆக்கியிருப்போம். (இதற்கு) நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்த வேண்டாமா?

நாம் நாடினால், அதைக் கைப்புள்ள தாக்கியிருப்போம்; (இவற்றுக்கெல்லாம்) நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்த வேண்டாமா?

நாம் நாடினால் அதனை (நீங்கள் குடிக்க முடியாத) உப்பு நீராக்கி இருப்போம், (இதற்கு) நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்த வேண்டாமா?

If We willed, We could make it salty; will you not then give thanks?

Afaraaytumu alnnara allatee tooroona

Then tell Me about the fire which you kindle.

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

நீங்கள் (அடுப்பில்) மூட்டுகின்ற நெருப்பையும் கவனித்தீர்களா?

நீங்கள் மூட்டும் நெருப்பை கவனித்தீர்களா?

நீங்கள் மூட்டுகின்ற நெருப்பைப் பார்த்தீர்களா?

Have you thought about the fire that you kindle?

Aantum anshatum shajarataha am nahnu almunshioona

Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower?

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

அதன் விறகை நீங்கள் உற்பத்தி செய்கின்றீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் உற்பத்தி செய்கின்றோமா?

அதன் மரத்தை நீங்கள் உண்டாக்கினீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் உண்டு பண்ணுகிறோமா?

அதனுடைய மரத்தை நீங்கள் உற்பத்தி செய்தீர்களா? அல்லது நாம் தாம் உற்பத்தி செய்பவர்களா?

Is it you who produced its trees, or is it We Who produced it?

Nahnu jaAAalnaha tathkiratan wamataAAan lilmuqweena

We have made it a Reminder (of the Hell-fire in the Hereafter), and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world).

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

(நரகத்தின் நெருப்பை உங்களுக்கு) ஞாபகமூட்டும் பொருட்டும், வழிப் போக்கருக்குப் பயனளிக்கும் பொருட்டும் அதனை நாம்தாம் படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

நாம் அதனை நினைவூட்டுதாகவும், பயணிகளுக்கு பயனளிப்பதற்காகவும் உண்டாக்கினோம்.

(நரகத்தின் நெருப்பை உங்களுக்கு) நினைவூட்டும் பொருட்டும், பிரயாணிகளுக்குப் பயனளிக்கும் பொருட்டும் அதனை நாமே ஆக்கினோம்.

We made it a reminder [of the Hellfire] and a benefit for the travelers.

Fasabbih biismi rabbika alAAatheemi

Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great.

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

ஆகவே, (நபியே!) மகத்தான உங்களது இறைவனின் பெயரைக் கொண்டு நீங்கள் (அவனை) புகழ்வீர்களாக!

ஆகவே, மகத்தான உம்முடைய ரப்பின் திருநாமத்தைக் கொண்டு தஸ்பீஹு செய்வீராக.

ஆகவே, (நபியே! இவைகளுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தும் வகையில்) மகத்தான உமதிரட்சகனின் பெயரைக் கொண்டு நீர் துதி செய்து கொண்டிருப்பீராக!

So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Fala oqsimu bimawaqiAAi alnnujoomi

So, I swear by the setting of the stars.

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

நட்சத்திரங்கள் மறையும் இடங்களின் மீது நாம் சத்தியம் செய்கின்றோம்.

நட்சத்திர மண்டலங்களின் மீது நான் சத்தியம் செய்கிறேன்.

நட்சத்திரங்கள் (விழுந்து) மறையுமிடங்கள் மீது நான் சத்தியம் செய்கின்றேன்.

I do swear by the positions of the stars –

Wainnahu laqasamun law taAAlamoona AAatheemun

And verily that is indeed a great oath, if you but know.

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

(உங்களுக்கு) அறிவிருந்தால் நிச்சயமாக இது ஒரு மகத்தான சத்தியம் என்பதைத் தெரிந்து கொள்வீர்கள்.

நீங்கள் அறீவீர்களாயின் நிச்சயமாக இது மகத்தான பிரமாணமாகும்.

நீங்கள் அறிந்திருந்தால், நிச்சயமாக இது மகத்தானதொரு சத்தியமென்பதைத் தெரிந்துகொள்வீர்கள்.

and this is indeed a great oath, if only you knew –

Innahu laquranun kareemun

That (this) is indeed an honourable recitation (the Noble Qur'ân).

Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an

நிச்சயமாக இது மிக்க கண்ணியமுள்ள குர்ஆனாகும்.

நிச்சயமாக, இது மிகவும் கண்ணியமும் சங்கையும் மிக்க குர்ஆன் ஆகும்.

நிச்சயமாக இது மிக கண்ணியமிக்க குர் ஆனாகும்.

that this is indeed a noble Qur’an,

Fee kitabin maknoonin

In a Book well-guarded (with Allâh in the heaven, i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).

In a Register well-protected;

(இது "லவ்ஹுல் மஹ்ஃபூள்" என்னும்) பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட புத்தகத்தில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது.

பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட ஏட்டில் இருக்கிறது.

இது (லவ்ஹுல் மஹ்ஃபூள் என்னும்) பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட புத்தகத்தில் (எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது).

in a well-preserved Record,

La yamassuhu illa almutahharoona

Which (that Book with Allâh) none can touch but the purified (i.e. the angels).

None touch it except the purified.

பரிசுத்தவான்களைத் தவிர, (மற்றெவரும்) இதனைத் தொடமாட்டார்கள்.

தூய்மையானவர்களைத் தவிர (வேறெவரும்) இதனைத் தொட மாட்டார்கள்.

பரிசுத்தமானவர்களைத் தவிர, (மற்றெவரும்) இதனைத் தொடமாட்டார்கள்.

that none can touch except the purified [angels] –

Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameena

A Revelation (this Qur'ân) from the Lord of the 'آlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

உலகத்தார் அனைவரின் (எஜமானாகிய) இறைவனால் இது அருளப்பட்டது.

அகிலத்தாரின் இறைவனால் இது இறக்கியருளப்பட்டது.

அகிலத்தாரின் இரட்சகனால் (இது) இறக்கப்பட்டது.

a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Afabihatha alhadeethi antum mudhinoona

Is it such a talk (this Qur'ân) that you (disbelievers) deny?

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

ஆகவே, இதிலுள்ள விஷயங்களையும் நீங்கள் அலட்சியம் செய்யக் கருதுகின்றீர்களா?

அவ்வாறிருந்தும், (குர்ஆனின் மகத்தான) இச்செய்தி பற்றி நீங்கள் அலட்சியமாக இருக்கிறீர்களா?

ஆகவே, இச்செய்தியை நீங்கள் அலட்சியம் செய்பவர்களாக இருக்கின்றீர்களா?

Do you take this discourse lightly,

WatajAAaloona rizqakum annakum tukaththiboona

And instead (of thanking Allâh) for the provision He gives you, you deny (Him by disbelief)!

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

அல்லது பொய்யாக்குவதையே நீங்கள் உங்கள் தொழிலாக்கிக் கொள்கின்றீர்களா?

நீங்கள் பொய்ப்பிப்பதை (இறைவன் தந்த) உங்கள் பாக்கியங்களுக்கு (நன்றியாக) ஆக்குகின்றீர்களா?

(அல்லாஹ் அளித்துள்ளவற்றுக்கு) உங்கள் நன்றியை நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் பொய்ப்படுத்துவதையே (பிரதியாக) ஆக்குகின்றீர்களா.

and instead [of thanking Allah] for the provision you are given, you show ingratitude?

Falawla itha balaghati alhulqooma

Then why do you not (intervene) when (the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat?

Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat

(உங்களில் மரணிக்கும் ஒருவரின் உயிர்) தொண்டைக் குழியை அடைந்தால்,

மரணத் தறுவாயில் ஒருவனின் (உயிர்) தொண்டைக் குழியை அடையும் போது -

(உங்களில் மரணிக்கும் ஒருவரின் உயிர்_) அது தொண்டைக் குழியை அடைந்து விடுமானால்_

Then why [you are helpless] when the soul reaches the throat,

Waantum heenaithin tanthuroona

And you at the moment are looking on,

And you are at that time looking on -

அந்நேரத்தில் நீங்கள் (இறப்பவனுக்குச் சமீபமாயிருந்தும், ஒன்றும் செய்ய முடியாமல்) பரக்கப் பரக்க விழிக்கின்றீர்கள்.

அந்நேரம் நீங்கள் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

அந்நேரத்தில் நீங்கள் (சகராத்_ மரணவேதனையில் சிக்கித்தவிப்பதை) பார்க்கிறீர்கள்.

while you are looking on,

Wanahnu aqrabu ilayhi minkum walakin la tubsiroona

But We (i.e. Our angels who take the soul) are nearer to him than you, but you see not, (Tafsir At-Tabarî)

And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

ஆயினும், நாம் அவனுக்கு உங்களைவிட மிக சமீபமாக இருக்கின்றோம். எனினும், நீங்கள் (நம்மைப்) பார்ப்பதில்லை.

ஆயினும், நாமோ அவனுக்கு உங்களை விட சமீபமாக இருக்கிறோம். எனினும் நீங்கள் பார்க்கிறீர்களில்லை.

நாமோ உங்களைவிட அவருக்கு மிகச் சமீபாக இருக்கின்றோம், எனினும் நீங்கள் பார்ப்பதில்லை.

when We are closer to him than you, but you do not see?

Falawla in kuntum ghayra madeeneena

Then why do you not if you are exempt from the reckoning and recompense (punishment) —

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

நீங்கள் எவருக்குமே கட்டுப்படாமல் (பூரண சுதந்திரம் உடையவர்களாக) இருந்து,

எனவே, (மறுமையில் உங்கள் செயல்களுக்கு) கூலி கொடுக்கப்பட மாட்டீர்கள் என்று இருந்தால் -

ஆகவே நீங்கள் (யாருடைய) அதிகாரத்திற்கு(ம்) கட்டுப்படாதவர்களாக இருந்தால்_

If you are not subject to retribution, then why do you not

TarjiAAoonaha in kuntum sadiqeena

Bring back the soul (to its body), if you are truthful?

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

மெய்யாகவே, நீங்கள் (இதில்) உண்மை சொல்பவர் களாகவுமிருந்தால், (இறந்த அவனுடைய உயிரை) நீங்கள் மீள வைப்பதுதானே!

நீங்கள் உண்மையாளராக இருப்பின், (அவ்வுயிரை) மீளவைத்திருக்கலாமே!

நீங்கள் உண்மையானவர்களாக இருந்தால், அ(வருடைய உயிரான)தை நீங்கள் அவரின் பால் மீளவைத்திருக்கலாமே?

bring that [soul] back, if you are truthful?

Faamma in kana mina almuqarrabeena

Then, if he (the dying person) be of the Muqarrabûn (those brought near to Allâh),

And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah,

(இறந்தவன் இறை அச்சமுடையவனாக இருந்து அல்லாஹ்வின்) நெருக்கத்தை பெற்றவர்களில் ஒருவனாக இருந்தால்,

(இறந்தவர் இறைவனுக்கு) நெருக்கமானவர்களில் நின்றும் இருப்பாராயின்.

ஆகவே, (அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு) நெருக்கமாக்கப் பட்டவர்களில் உள்ளவராக அவர் இருந்தால்_

If that dying person is one of those who will be brought near to Allah,

Farawhun warayhanun wajannatu naAAeemin

(There is for him) rest and provision, and a Garden of Delights (Paradise).

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

அவனுக்குச் சுகமும் மகிழ்ச்சியும் உண்டு; இன்பமளிக்கும் சுவனபதியுமுண்டு.

அவருக்குச் சுகமும், நல்லுணவும் இன்னும் பாக்கியமுள்ள சுவர்க்கமும் உண்டு.

அப்போது அவருக்கு சுகமும், நல்லுணவும், அருட்கொடையுடைய சுவனமும் உண்டு.

then [he will have] comfort, fragrance, and Garden of Bliss.

Waamma in kana min ashabi alyameeni

And if he (the dying person) be of those on the Right Hand,

And if he was of the companions of the right,

(அதிலும்) அவர் வலப்பக்கத்திலுள்ளவராக இருந்தாலோ,

அன்றியும், அவர் வலப்புறத்துத் தோழராக இருந்தால்,

அன்றியும், அவர் வலப்புறத்தாரில் உள்ளவராக இருந்தால்_

If he is one of the people of the right,

Fasalamun laka min ashabi alyameeni

Then there is safety and peace (from the punishment of Allâh) for those on the Right Hand.

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

அவரை நோக்கி "வலப்பக்கத்தில் உள்ளவர்களில் இருந்து உங்களுக்கு "ஸலாம்" ஈடேற்றம் உண்டாகுக! (என்ற முகமன்) கூறப்படும்.

“வலப்புறத்தோரே! உங்களுக்கு “ஸலாம்” உண்டாவதாக” (என்று கூறப்படும்).

(அவரிடம்,) ”வலப்புறத்தாரிலிருந்து உமக்குச் சாந்தி உண்டாவதாக!” (என்று கூறப்படும்).

[He will be told], “Peace be to you, for being one of the people of the right.”

Waamma in kana mina almukaththibeena alddalleena

But if he (the dying person) be of the denying (of the Resurrection), the erring (away from the Right Path of Islâmic Monotheism),

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

அன்றி, அவன் வழிகெட்டவனாகவும் (இவ்வேதத்தைப்) பொய்யாக்குகிறவனாகவும் இருந்தால்,

ஆனால் அவன் வழிகெட்டுப் பொய்யாக்குவோரில் (ஒருவனாக) இருந்தால்

அன்றியும் அவர் வழி கெட்டோரான (இவ்வேதத்தைப்) பொய்யாக்குகின்றவர்களில் உள்ளவராக இருந்தால்_

But if he is one of the misguided deniers,

Fanuzulun min hameemin

Then for him is an entertainment with boiling water.

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

முற்றிலும் கொதித்த சுடுநீர் அவனுக்கு விருந்தாவதுடன்,

கொதிக்கும் நீரே, அவனுக்கு விருந்தாகும்.

கொதித்து அதன் உச்சத்தை அடைந்துவிட்ட நீரிலிருந்தே (அவருக்கு) விருந்துண்டு_

then he will be welcomed with scalding water,

Watasliyatu jaheemin

And burning in Hell-fire.

And burning in Hellfire

நரகத்திலும் தள்ளப்படுவான்.

நரக நெருப்பில் தள்ளப்படுவது (விருந்தாகும்).

இன்னும், நரகத்தில் நுழைவித்தலும் உண்டு.

and he will burn in Blazing Fire.

Inna hatha lahuwa haqqu alyaqeeni

Verily, this! This is an absolute Truth with certainty.

Indeed, this is the true certainty,

நிச்சயமாக இது சந்தேகமற்ற உண்மையாகும்.

நிச்சயமாக இதுதான் உறுதியான உண்மையாகும்.

நிச்சயமாக இது (மிக்க) உறுதியான உண்மையாகும்.

This is indeed the absolute truth.

Fasabbih biismi rabbika alAAatheemi

So, glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great.

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

ஆகவே (நபியே!) நீங்கள் மகத்தான உங்களது இறைவனின் திருப்பெயரைக் கூறி புகழ்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பீராக!

எனவே (நபியே!) மகத்தான உம்முடைய இறைவனின் திருநாமத்தைக் கொண்டு தஸ்பீஹு செய்வீராக.

ஆகவே (நபியே!) மகத்தான உமதிரட்சகனின் பெயரை(க்கூறி) துதி செய்வீராக.

So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
