54 - al-Qamar (The Moon) ....

Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).

The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].

மறுமை நெருங்கிவிட்டது. (அதற்கு அத்தாட்சியாக) சந்திரனும் பிளந்து விட்டது.

(இறுதி) நேரம் நெருங்கி விட்டது; சந்திரனும் பிளந்து விட்டது.

மறுமைநாள் நெருங்கிவிட்டது, (அது பற்றித் தெரிவிக்க) சந்திரனும் பிளந்து விட்டது.

The Hour has drawn near and the moon has split asunder.

Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun

And if they see a sign, they turn away and say: "This is continuous magic."

And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic."

எனினும், அவர்கள் எந்த அத்தாட்சியைக் கண்டபோதிலும் (அதனைப்) புறக்கணித்து "இது சகஜமான சூனியந்தான்" என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.

எனினும், அவர்கள் ஓர் அத்தாட்சியைப் பார்த்தால், (அதைப்) புறக்கணித்து விடுகிறார்கள்; “இது வழமையாக நடைபெறும் சூனியம் தான்” என்றும் கூறுகிறார்கள்.

அவர்கள் எந்த அத்தாட்சியைக் கண்டபோதிலும், (அதனை) அவர்கள் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டு, இது (நாள்தோறும்) தொடர்ந்துவரும் சூனியம் என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர்.

Whenever they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Same old magic!”

Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun

They denied (the Verses of Allâh – this Qur'ân) and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled (according to the kind of deeds, good deeds will take their doers to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell).

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.

அன்றி, அதனை பொய்யாக்கி தங்களது சரீர இச்சைகளையே பின்பற்றுகின்றனர். (அவர்கள் எதனை புறக்கணித்தாலும் வர வேண்டிய) ஒவ்வொரு விஷயமும் (அதனதன் நேரத்தில்) உறுதியாகி விடும்.

அன்றியும், அவர்கள் (காண்பிக்கப் பெறும் அத்தாட்சிகளைப்) பொய்ப்பிக்க முற்படுகின்றனர்; மேலும் தங்கள் இச்சைகளையே பின்பற்றுகின்றனர், ஆயினும் ஒவ்வொரு காரியமும் (அதற்கான நிலையில்) உறுதிப்பட்டே விடும்.

அன்றியும், அதனை அவர்கள் பொய்யாக்கிவிட்டனர், தங்களின் மனோ ஆசைகளையே பின்பற்றுகின்றனர், (அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு நடந்துகொண்ட போதிலும், வரவேண்டிய) ஒவ்வொரு காரியமும் (அதனதன் நேரத்தில்) நிலை பெறக்கூடியதாகும்.

They deny [the truth] and follow their desires, but every matter will reach its inevitable end.

Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarun

And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur'ân) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),

And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence -

(இவர்களுக்குப்) போதுமான படிப்பினை தரக்கூடிய பல விஷயங்கள் (இதற்கு முன்னரும்) நிச்சயமாக அவர்களிடம் வந்தே இருக்கின்றன.

அச்சுறுத்தலுள்ள பல செய்திகள் திடமாக (முன்னரே) அவர்களிடம் வந்திருக்கின்றன.

இன்னும், எதில் (அவர்களுக்கு) அச்சுறுத்தல் உண்டோ அத்தகைய செய்திகள், (இதற்கு முன்னரும்) திட்டமாக அவர்களுக்கு வந்திருக்கின்றன.

There have already come to them stories [of destroyed nations] that are sufficient to deter them,

Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuru

Perfect wisdom (this Qur'ân), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not.

Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].

(அவை அவர்களுக்கு) முழு ஞானம் அளிக்கக் கூடியவை தான். எனினும், (அவைகளைக் கொண்டு) அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்தது (இவர்களுக்கு) யாதொரு பயனும் அளிக்கவில்லை.

நிறைவான ஞானம் உடையவை - ஆனால் (அவர்களுக்கு அவற்றின்) எச்சரிக்கைகள் பயனளிக்கவில்லை.

(இவ்வேதமானது பூரணமான) உச்சத்தை அடைந்துவிட்ட அறிவுகளுடையவை, ஆனால், எச்சரிக்கைகள் (இவர்களுக்கு) யாதொரு பயனுமளிக்கவில்லை.

which contain extensive wisdom, but the warnings are of no avail.

Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurin

So (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.

So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,

ஆகவே, (நபியே!) நீங்கள் அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்து விடுங்கள். இவர்கள் வெறுக்கும் (அந்தக் கேள்வி கணக்கு) விஷயத்திற்காக (இஸ்ராஃபீல் என்னும்) அழைப்பவர் அழைக்கும் நாளில்,

ஆகையால் (நபியே!) அவர்களை விட்டும் நீர் திரும்பி விடும்; (அவர்களுக்கு) வெறுப்பான (கேள்வி கணக்கு) விஷயத்திற்காக அழைப்பவர் (அவர்களை) அழைக்கும் நாளில்:

ஆகவே, (நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்துவிடுவீராக! (இன்னும் இவர்கள்) வெறுக்கும் (அந்தகேள்விகணக்கு) விஷயத்திற்காக (இஸ்ராஃபீல் என்னும்) அழைப்பவர் அழைக்கும் நாளில்_

So turn away from them [O Prophet]. On the Day when the caller will summon them to a horrific event,

KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirun

They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,

Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,

(அந்நாளில்) இவர்கள் கீழ் நோக்கிய பார்வையுடன் சமாதிகளிலிருந்து வெளிப்பட்டுப் பரவிக் கிடக்கும் வெட்டுக் கிளியைப்போல் அழைப்பவரிடம் விரைந்தோடி வருவார்கள்.

(தாழ்ந்து பணிந்து) கீழ்நோக்கிய பார்வையுடன், அவர்கள் புதை குழிகளிலிருந்து பரவிச் செல்லும் வெட்டுக்கிளிகளைப் போல் வெளியேறுவார்கள்.

அவர்களின் பார்வைகள் கீழ் நோக்கிய நிலையில் பரவிக்கிடக்கும் வெட்டுக் கிளிகளைப் போல் அவர்கள் புதைகுழிகளிலிருந்து வெளியேறுவர்.

with eyes downcast, they will come out of the graves like scattered locusts,

MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirun

Hastening towards the caller. The disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day."

Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."

இது மிக கஷ்டமான நாள் என்றும் அந்நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் (அச்சமயம்) கூறுவார்கள்.

அழைப்பவரிடம் விரைந்து வருவார்கள்; “இது மிகவும் கஷ்டமான நாள்” என்றும் அக்காஃபிர்கள் கூறுவார்கள்.

அழைப்பவர் பால் விரைந்தவர்களாக, (வெளியேறுவர்) “இது மிகக் கஷ்டமான நாள்” என்று நிராகரித்துக்கொண்டிருப்போர் (அச்சமயம்) கூறுவார்கள்.

rushing headlong towards the caller. The disbelievers will say, “This is a hard Day!”

Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujira

The people of Nûh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them. They rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.

The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.

(இவ்வாறே) இவர்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த நூஹுடைய மக்களும் (அந்த நாளைப்) பொய்யாக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். ஆகவே, அவர்கள் (அதைப் பற்றி எச்சரிக்கை செய்த) நம்முடைய தூதராகிய அடியாரைப் பொய்யாக்கியதுடன், அவரைப் பைத்தியக்காரனென்று கூறி (துன்புறுத்துவதாகவும்) மிரட்டிக் கொண்டுமிருந்தார்கள்.

இவர்களுக்கு முன்னர் நூஹின் சமூகத்தினர் (மறுமையைப்) பொய்யாக்கினர்; ஆகவே அவர்கள் நம் அடியாரைப் பொய்ப்பித்து (அவரைப்) “பைத்தியக்காரர்” என்று கூறினர்; அவர் விரட்டவும் பட்டார்.

(இவ்வாறே) இவர்களுக்கு முன்னர் நூஹ்வுடைய சமூகத்தார் (அந்நாளைப்) பொய்யாக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள், ஆகவே, அவர்கள் நம்முடைய அடியாரைப் பொய்யாக்கிப் பைத்தியக்காரரென்றும் அவர்கள் கூறினர். இன்னும், (அவர்களால் தன் தூதை எத்தி வைக்கமுடியாதவாறு) அவர் விரட்டப்பட்டார்.

The people of Noah rejected [the truth] before them; they rejected Our slave and said, “He is a madman,” and he was rebuked.

FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun faintasir

Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!"

So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."

ஆகவே, அவர் தன் இறைவனை நோக்கி "நிச்சயமாக நான் (இவர்களிடம்) தோற்றுவிட்டேன். நீ எனக்கு உதவி செய்!" என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்தார்.

அப்போது அவர்; “நிச்சயமாக நாம் தோல்வியடைந்தவனாக இருக்கிறேன்; ஆகவே, நீ (எனக்கு) உதவி செய்வாயாக!” என்று அவர் தம் இறைவனிடம் பிரார்த்தித்தார்.

ஆகவே, அவர் நிச்சயமாக நான் (இவர்களால்) மிகைக்கப்பட்டு விட்டவன். ஆகவே நீ எனக்கு உதவி செய்(து அவர்களுக்கு தண்டனை வழங்கு)வாயாக! என தம் இரட்சகனிடம் அவர் பிரார்த்தனை செய்தார்.

So he called upon his Lord, “I am overpowered, so help me!”

Fafatahna abwaba alssamai bimain munhamirin

So, We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring forth.

Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down

ஆதலால், வானத்தின் வாயில்களைத் திறந்துவிட்டு, தாரை தாரையாய் மழை கொட்டும்படி நாம் செய்தோம்.

ஆகவே, நாம் கொட்டும் மழையைக் கொண்டு வானங்களின் வாயில்களைத் திறந்து விட்டோம்.

ஆதலால், கடுமையாகக் கொட்டும் நீரைக் கொண்டு வானத்தின் வாயில்களை நாம் திறந்து விட்டோம்.

So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents,

Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudira

And We caused springs to gush forth from the earth. So, the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.

And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.

அன்றி, பூமியின் ஊற்றுக்கண்களையும் (பீறிட்டுப்) பாய்ந்தோடச் செய்தோம். ஆகவே, நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு காரியத் திற்காக தண்ணீர் ஒன்று சேர்ந்தது.

மேலும், பூமியின் ஊற்றுகளை பொங்க வைத்தோம்; இவ்வாறாக, குறிப்பிட்ட ஓர் அளவின் படி (இரு வகை) நீரும் கலந்(து பெருக் கெடுத்)தது.

அன்றியும், பூமியை ஊற்றுக் கண்களாக(ப் பீறிட்டு)ப் பாய்ந்தோடச் செய்தோம். ஆகவே, (ஆதியில்) நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்ட காரியத்தின் மீது (வானம், பூமி ஆகியவற்றின்) நீரும் இணைந்தது.

and We caused the earth to burst forth with springs, then the waters met for a preordained purpose.

Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurin

And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails,

And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,

நாம் அவரை(யும், அவரை நம்பிக்கை கொண்டவர்களையும்) பலகையினாலும், ஆணியினாலும் செய்யப்பட்ட கப்பலின் மீது சுமந்து கொண்டோம்.

அப்போது, பலகைகளினாலும் ஆணிகளினாலும் செய்யப்பட்ட மரக்கலத்தின் மீது அவரை ஏற்றிக் கொண்டோம்.

நாம் அவரை(யும், அவருடனிருந்தவர்களையும்) பலகைகளும், ஆணிகளும் உடைய (மரக்கலத்)தின் மீது ஏற்றி(க்காப்பாற்றி)னோம்.

We carried him on an [Ark made] of planks and nails,

Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufira

Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected!

Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.

அது நம் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவே (பிரளயத்தில் மிதந்து) சென்றது. (மற்றவர்களோ மூழ்கி மாண்டனர்.) எவரை இவர்கள் (மதிக்காது) நிராகரித்தனரோ, அவருக்காக இவ்வாறு கூலி கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

எனவே, எவர் (அவர்களால்) நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தாரோ, அவருக்கு (நற்) கூலி கொடுப்பதாக, (அம்மரக்கலம்) நம் கண் முன்னிலையில் மிதந்து சென்று கொண்டிருந்தது.

அது நம் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவே (பெரு வெள்ளத்தில் மிதந்து) சென்றது, (இவர்களால்) நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தவருக்கு (நூஹ் நபிக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும் நற்) கூலியாக (இவ்வாறு அவர்களை நாம் தண்டித்தோம்).

sailing under Our [watchful] Eyes; as a reward for the one [they] denied.

Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirin

And indeed, We have left this as a sign. Then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?

நிச்சயமாக நாம் இதனை (பிற்காலத்தவருக்கு) ஒரு படிப்பினையாகச் செய்துவிட்டோம். (இதனைக் கொண்டு) நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறக்கூடியவர் உண்டா?

நிச்சயமாக நாம் (வருங்காலத்திற்கு இ(ம் மரக்கலத்)தை ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாக விட்டு வைத்தோம்; (இதன் மூலமாக) நல்லுணர்வு பெறுவோர் உண்டா?

மேலும், நிச்சயமாக நாம் இதனை (பின்னுள்ளவர்களுக்கு) ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாக விட்டுவைத்தோம், (இதனைக் கொண்டு) படிப்பினை பெறக்கூடியவர் உண்டா?

We have certainly left it as a sign; is there anyone to take heed?

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri

Then how (terrible) was My torment and My Warnings?

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

நம்முடைய வேதனையும், அச்சமூட்டி அறிவித்தலும் எவ்வாறாயிற்று (என்பதைக் கவனிப்பார்களா)?

ஆகவே, என் (கட்டளையினால் ஏற்பட்ட) வேதனையும், எச்சரிக்கையும் எப்படி இருந்தன? (என்பதை கவனிக்க வேண்டாமா?)

என்னுடைய வேதனையும், (என்னுடைய) எச்சரிக்கையும் எவ்வாறிருந்தன? (என்பதை கவனிப்பார்களா?)

Then how were My punishment and My warnings?

Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin

And We have indeed made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember; then is there anyone who will remember (or receive admonition)?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

(மனிதர்கள்) நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறும் பொருட்டே இந்தக் குர்ஆனை நிச்சயமாக நாம் மிக எளிதாக்கி இருக்கின்றோம். ஆகவே, நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறுபவர்கள் உண்டா?

நிச்சயமாக, இக் குர்ஆனை நன்கு நினைவு படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் பொருட்டே எளிதாக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றோம். எனவே (இதிலிருந்து) நல்லுணர்வு பெறுவோர் உண்டா?

திட்டமாக நாம் குர் ஆனை உபதேசம் பெறுவதற்காக எளிதாக்கி இருக்கின்றோம், ஆகவே, (இதனைக் கொண்டு) படிப்பினை பெறக்கூடியவர் உண்டா?

We have certainly made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember; is there anyone to take heed?

Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri

'آd (people) denied (their Prophet, Hûd); then how (terrible) was My torment and My Warnings?

'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

ஆது என்னும் மக்களும் (இவ்வாறே நம்முடைய தூதரைப்) பொய்யாக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். எனினும், (அவர்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட) நம்முடைய வேதனையும், நம்முடைய அச்சமூட்டுதலும் எவ்வாறாயிற்று (என்பதைக் கவனிப்பார்களா)?

“ஆது” (கூட்டத்தாரும் தங்கள் நபியை) பொய்ப்படுத்தினர்; அதனால், என் (கட்டளையினால் ஏற்பட்ட) வேதனையும். எச்சரிக்கையும் எப்படி இருந்தன (என்பதை கவனிக்க வேண்டாமா?)

ஆது (சமூகத்தாரும் நம் தூதரைப்) பொய்யாக்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர், பின்னர் (அவர்களுக்கு என் கட்டளையின்படி ஏற்பட்ட) என்னுடைய வேதனையும், (என்னுடைய எச்சரிக்கையும் எவ்வாறிருந்தன (என்பதைக் கவனிப்பார்களா)?

‘Ād disbelieved. Then how were My punishment and My warnings?

Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin

Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.

Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்கள் மீது (என்றும்) நிலையான துர்ப் பாக்கியமுடைய ஒரு நாளில் மிக்க கடினமான புயல் காற்றை அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்கள் மீது, நிலையான துர்பாக்கியமுடைய ஒரு நாளில், பேரிறைச்சலைக் கொண்ட வேகமான காற்றை அனுப்பினோம்.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்கள் மீது, (என்றும்) நிலையான துர்ப்பாக்கியமுடைய ஒரு நாளில், மிகக்கடும் சப்தமு(ம் குளிரும் உ)டைய காற்றை அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.

We sent against them a furious wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirin

Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date palms.

Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.

அது வேரற்ற பேரீச்ச மரங்களைப்போல், மனிதர்களைக் களைந்து (எறிந்து) விட்டது.

நிச்சயமாக: வேரோடு பிடுங்கப் பட்ட பேரீத்த மரங்களின் அடித்தூறைப் போல் (அக்காற்று) மனிதர்களை பிடுங்கி எறிந்து விட்டது.

அதுமனிதர்களை_நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் (பூமிக்குள்ளிருந்து வேரோடு) பிடுங்கக்கபட்ட பேரீச்ச மரங்களின் அடிவேர்களைப் போல (ஆகும் நிலையில்) பிடுங்கி (எறிந்து) விட்டது.

sweeping people away, as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees.

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri

Then, how (terrible) was My torment and My Warnings?

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

நம்முடைய வேதனையும், அச்சமூட்டுதலும் எவ்வாறாயிற்று (என்பதைக் கவனிப்பார்களா)?

ஆகவே, என் (கட்டளையினால் ஏற்பட்ட) வேதனையும் எச்சரிக்கையும் எப்படி இருந்தன? (என்பதைக் கவனிக்க வேண்டாமா?)

என்னுடைய வேதனையும், எச்சரிக்கையும் எவ்வாறிருந்தன (என்பதை கவனிப்பார்களா)?

Then how were My punishment and My warnings?

Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin

And We have indeed made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

(மனிதர்கள் நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறும் பொருட்டே இந்தக் குர்ஆனை நிச்சயமாக நாம் மிக எளிதாக்கி வைத்தோம். நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறுபவர்கள் உண்டா?

நிச்சயமாக, இக் குர்ஆனை நன்கு நினைவு படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் பொருட்டே எளிதாக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றோம்; எனவே (இதிலிருந்து) நல்லுணர்வு பெறுவோர் உண்டா?  

திட்டமாக, நாம் குர் ஆனை உபதேசம் பெறுவதற்காக எளிதாக்கி இருக்கின்றோம், ஆகவே, (இதனைக் கொண்டு) படிப்பினை பெறக்கூடியவர் உண்டா?

We have certainly made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember; is there anyone to take heed?

Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuri

Thamûd (people also) denied the warnings.

Thamud denied the warning

(இவ்வாறே) ஸமூது என்னும் மக்களும், தங்களுக்கு அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை (செய்த ஸாலிஹ் நபி)யைப் பொய்யாக்கினர்.

ஸமூது(கூட்டமு)ம் எச்சரிக்கைகளைப் பொய்ப்பித்தது.

(இவ்வாறே) ஸமூது (கூட்டத்தாரு)ம் எச்சரிக்கையாளர்களைப் பொய்யாக்கினர்.

Thamūd rejected the warnings,

Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurin

And they said: "A man, alone among us – shall we follow him? Truly, then we should be in error and distress (or madness)!"

And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness.

(பொய்யாக்கியதுடன்) "நம்மிலுள்ள ஒரு மனிதனையா நாம் பின்பற்றுவது? பின்பற்றினால், நிச்சயமாக நாம் வழிகேட்டில் சென்று கஷ்டத்திற்குள்ளாகி விடுவோம்" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

“நம்மிலிருந்துள்ள ஒரு தனி மனிதரையா நாம் பின்பற்றுவோம்? (அப்படிச் செய்தால்) நாம் நிச்சயமாக வழி கேட்டிலும் பைத்தியத்திலும் இருப்போம்” என்றும் (அக்கூட்டத்தினர்) கூறினர்.

பின்னர், “நம்மிலுள்ள ஒரு மனிதரை_ அவரையா நாம் பின் பற்றுவோம்? (அவ்வாறு பின்பற்றினால்) நிச்சயமாக, நாம் அப்பொழுது வழிகேட்டிலும், சிரமத்திலும் ஆகிவிடுவோம்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “Shall we follow a single human being from among us? Then we would surely be in error and insanity!

Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirun

"Is it that the Reminder is sent to him (Prophet Sâlih ['alayhis-salâm]) alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!"

Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar."

அன்றி "நமக்குள் (நம்மையன்றி) இவர் மீதுதானா வேதம் இறக்கப்பட்டது? அன்று! இவர் பெரும் பொய் சொல்லும் இறுமாப்புக் கொண்டவர்" என்றனர்.

“நம்மிடையே இருந்து அவர் மீதுதானா (நினைவுறுத்தும்) நல்லுபதேசம் இறக்கப்படவேண்டும்; அல்ல! அவர் ஆணவம் பிடித்த பெரும் பொய்யர்” (என்றும் அவர்கள் கூறினர்).

“நமக்கிடையே இவர் மீதுதானா (திக்ரு எனும்) வேதம் இறக்கப்பட்டது? அன்று! அவர் இறுமாப்புக் கொண்ட பெரும் பொய்யர்” (என்று கூறினார்கள்).

Has the revelation been sent down upon him out of all of us? Rather, he is an insolent liar.”

SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiru

Tomorrow they will come to know who is the liar, the insolent one!

They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.

பொய் சொல்லும் இறுமாப்புக் கொண்டவர் யாரென்பதை, வெகுவிரைவில் நாளைய தினமே அறிந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

“ஆணவம் பிடித்த பெரும் பொய்யர் யார்?” என்பதை நாளைக்கு அவர்கள் திட்டமாக அறிந்து கொள்வார்கள்.

“இறுமாப்புக் கொண்டவரான பெரும் பொய்யர் யார்” என்பதை, நிச்சயமாக நாளைய தினம் அவர்கள் அறிந்து கொள்வார்கள்.

Tomorrow they will know who the insolent liar is.

Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabir

Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them (O Sâlih ['alayhis-salâm]), and be patient!

Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.

(ஆகவே,) அவர்களைச் சோதிப்பதற்காக, மெய்யாகவே ஒரு பெண் ஒட்டகத்தை நாம் அனுப்பி வைப்போம். ஆகவே, (ஸாலிஹ் நபியே!) நீங்கள் பொறுமையாயிருந்து அவர்களைக் கவனித்து வாருங்கள்.

அவர்களைச் சோதிக்கும் பொருட்டு, நிச்சயமாக நாம் ஒரு பெண் ஒட்டகத்தை அனுப்பி வைப்போம்; ஆகவே, நீர் அவர்களை கவனித்துக் கொண்டும், பொறுமையுடனும் இருப்பீராக!

(ஆகவே,) அவர்களைச் சோதிப்பதற்காக “ஒரு பெண் ஒட்டகத்தை நிச்சயமாக நாம் அனுப்பிவைப்போராக உள்ளோம், ஆகவே (ஸாலிஹ் நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களைக் கண்காணித்துக்கொண்டு, பொறுமையுடனும் இருப்பீராக!

We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them [O Sālih] and be patient,

Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarun

And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them, each one's right to drink being established (by turns).

And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn].

(அவ்வூரில் உள்ள ஊற்றின்) குடிநீர் அவர்களுக்கு(ம் அந்த ஒட்டகத்திற்கும்) இடையில் நிச்சயமாகப் பங்கிடப்பட்டுவிட்டது. ஒவ்வொருவரும் தன் பங்கிற்குத் தகுந்தாற்போல் குடிப்பதற்கு வரலாம் என்றும், அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்துவிடுங்கள் (என்றும் நாம் கூறினோம்).

(அவ்வூரிலுள்ள கிணற்றின்) தண்ணீர் அவர்களுக்கு(ம் அந்த ஒட்டகத்திற்கும்) இடையில் பங்கிடப்பட்டுள்ளது; “ஒவ்வொருவரும் (தண்ணீர்) முறைப்படி குடிப்பதற்கு வரலாம்” என்று அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்து விடும்.

நிச்சயமாக, (கிணற்றின்) “தண்ணீர் அவர்களுக்கும் அந்த ஒட்டகத்திற்கும்) இடையில் பங்கிடப்பட்டுள்ளது, ஒவ்வோரு தண்ணீர் முறை பாகமும் (முறைப்படி அவரவர் நாளில் குடிப்பதற்கு) என்றும், அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்து விடுவீராக!” (என்றும் நாம் கூறினோம்).

and tell them that the water is to be shared between them; each should take its drink in turn.

Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAata faAAaqara

But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).

But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her].

எனினும், அவர்கள் (கத்தார் என்னும்) தங்களுடைய நண்பனை அழைத்தனர். அவன் அதனை வெட்டி, அதன் கால் நரம்புகளைத் தறித்துவிட்டான்.

ஆனால் (அம்மக்களோ ஒட்டகையை அறுத்துவிடத்) தம் தோழனை அழைத்தனர்; அவன் (துணிந்து கை) நீட்டி (அதன் கால் நரம்புகளைத்) தரித்து விட்டான்.

எனினும், அவர்கள் (ஒட்டகத்தை அறுத்து விட) தங்களுடைய தோழனை அழைத்தனர், அவன் (வாளை எடுத்து, தன் கையால் ஒட்டகத்தைப்) பிடித்தான், (அதன் கால் நரம்புகளைத் தறித்து) பின்னர் அறுத்து விட்டான்.

But they called their companion, and he undertook the task and hamstrung her.

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri

Then, how (terrible) was My torment and My Warnings?

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

ஆகவே, நம்முடைய வேதனையும், நம்முடைய எச்சரிக்கையும் எவ்வாறாயிற்று (என்பதை இவர்கள் கவனிப் பார்களா)?

என் (கட்டளையினால் பின்னர் அம் மக்களுக்கு) வேதனையும், எச்சரிக்கையும் எப்படி இருந்தன? (என்பதை கவனிக்க வேண்டாமா?)

ஆகவே, என்னுடைய வேதனையும் (என்னுடைய) எச்சரிக்கையும் எவ்வாறிருந்தன?

Then how were My punishment and My warnings!

Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiri

Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment – awful cry), and they became like the stubble of a fold-builder.

Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்கள் மீது ஒரே ஒரு (இடி முழக்கச்) சப்தத்தைத்தான் அனுப்பி வைத்தோம். அதனால், பிடுங்கி எறியப்பட்ட வேலி(க்கூளங்)களைப் போல் அவர்கள் ஆகி விட்டார்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்கள் மீது ஒரு பெரும் சப்தத்தை அனுப்பினோம் - அதனால் அவர்கள் காய்ந்து மிதிபட்ட வேலி(யின் கூளம்) போல் ஆகிவிட்டனர்.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்கள் மீது, ஒரே ஒரு (பேரிடிச்) சப்தத்தை அனுப்பி வைத்தோம், அதனால் வேலி கட்டுபவரின் பிடுங்கி எறியப்பட்ட குப்பை கூளங்களைப் போல் அவர்கள் ஆகிவிட்டார்கள்.

We sent against them a single blast, leaving them like trampled hedge-building twigs.

Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin

And indeed, We have made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

(மனிதர்கள்) நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறுவதற்காக இந்தக் குர்ஆனை எளிதாக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றோம். நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறுபவர்கள் உண்டா?

நிச்சயமாக இக் குர்ஆனை நன்கு நினைவு படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் பொருட்டே எளிதாக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றோம்; எனவே இதிலிருந்து நல்லுணர்வு பெறுவோர் உண்டா?

திட்டமாக நாம் குர் ஆனை உபதேசம் பெறுவதற்காக எளிதாக்கியும் இருக்கின்றோம், ஆகவே, (இதனைக் கொண்டு) படிப்பினை பெறக்கூடியவர் எவரும் உண்டா?

We have certainly made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember; is there anyone to take heed?

Kaththabat qawmu lootin bialnnuthuri

The people of Lût (Lot) denied the warnings.

The people of Lot denied the warning.

லூத்துடைய மக்களும் நம்முடைய எச்சரிக்கையைப் பொய்யாக்கினார்கள்.

லூத்துடைய சமூகத்தாரும் (நம்முடைய) எச்சரிக்கைகளைப் பொய்ப்பித்தனர்.

(நம்முடைய) எச்சரிக்கையாளர்களை லூத்துடைய சமூகத்தார் பொய்யாக்கினார்கள்.

The people of Lot rejected the warnings.

Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin

Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lût (Lot), We saved them in the last hour of the night,

Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn

லூத்துடைய குடும்பத்தாரைத் தவிர, மற்றவர்கள் மீது நாம் கல்மாரி பொழியச் செய்தோம். விடியற்காலை நேரத்தில் நாம் அவ(ருடைய குடும்பத்தா)ர்களை பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டோம்.

லூத்துடைய குடும்பத்தாரைத் தவிர, மற்றவர்கள் மீது, நாம் நிச்சயமாக கல்மாரியை அனுப்பினோம்; விடியற்காலையில் நாம் அவர் குடும்பத்தார்களை பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டோம்.

அவர்கள் மீது, நாம் கல்மாரியை அனுப்பிவைத்தோம். (அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதராகிய) லூத்துடைய குடும்பத்தாரைத் தவிர, அதிகாலை நேரத்தில் நாம் அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றினோம்.

We sent against them a storm of pebbles, except the family of Lot whom We saved before dawn,

NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakara

As a favour from Us. Thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us).

As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful.

இது நம்முடைய அருளாகும். இவ்வாறே நன்றி செலுத்து பவர்களுக்கு நாம் கூலி கொடுப்போம்.

நம்மிடமிருந்துள்ள அருள் கொடையால் (இப்படிக் காப்பாற்றினோம்) இவ்வாறே நாம் நன்றி செலுத்துபவர்களுக்கு கூலி அளிக்கிறோம்.

நம்மிடமிருந்துள்ள அருட்கொடையாக (இவ்வாறு செய்தோம்), இவ்வாறே நன்றி செலுத்துவோருக்கு நாம் கூலி கொடுப்போம்.

as a blessing from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks.

Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuri

And he [Lût (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Seizure (punishment), but they did doubt the warnings!

And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning.

(அவர்களை) நாம் பிடித்துக் கொள்வோம் என்று நிச்சயமாக அவர், அவர்களுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை செய்தார். எனினும், அந்த எச்சரிக்கையைப் பற்றி அவர்கள் தர்க்கிக்க ஆரம்பித்தார்கள்.

திட்டமாக நம்முடைய கடுமையான பிடியைப்பற்றி அவர் (தம் சமூகத்தாருக்கு) அச்சுறுத்தி எச்சரித்திருந்தார். எனினும் அச்சுறுத்தும் அவ்வெச்சரிக்கைகளைப் பற்றி அவர்கள் சந்தேகி(த்துத் தர்க்கி)க்கலாயினர்.

நம் (வேதனையின்) பிடியைப்பற்றி நிச்சயமாக (லூத் நபியாகிய) அவர், அவர்களுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை செய்தார், எனினும், அவ்வெச்சரிக்கையைப் பற்றி அவர்கள் சந்தேகித்தார்கள்.

He had already warned them of Our punishing assault, but they doubted the warnings.

Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri

And they indeed sought to shame his guests (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So, We blinded their eyes (saying), "Then taste you My torment and My Warnings."

And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."

அன்றி, அவருடைய விருந்தாளியையும் (கெட்ட காரியத் திற்காக) மயக்கி (அடித்து)க் கொண்டு போகப் பார்த்தார்கள். ஆகவே, அவர்களுடைய கண்களை நாம் துடைத்து(க் குருடாக்கி) விட்டு, நம்முடைய வேதனையையும், எச்சரிக்கையையும் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள் என்று கூறினோம்.

அன்றியும் அவருடைய விருந்தினரை (துர்ச் செயலுக்காக)க் கொண்டு போகப் பார்த்தார்கள்; ஆனால் நாம் அவர்களுடைய கண்களைப் போக்கினோம். “என்(னால் உண்டாகும்) வேதனையையும், எச்சரிக்கைகளையும் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்” (என்றும் கூறினோம்).

அன்றியும், திட்டமாக அவருடைய விருந்தினரை(க் கெட்ட காரியத்திற்காக தங்களிடம் ஒப்படைக்குமாறு) அவரிடம் தேடினார்கள். ஆகவே அவர்களுடைய கண்களை நாம் துடைத்து(க் குருடாக்கி) விட்டோம், ஆகவே, என்னுடைய வேதனையையும், (என்னுடைய) எச்சரிக்கையையும் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள் (என்று கூறினோம்).

They even demanded that he let them have their way with his angel-guests, so We blinded their eyes, [saying], “Taste My punishment and My warnings!”

Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun

And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning.

And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.

ஆகவே, அதிகாலையில் நிலையான வேதனை அவர்களை வந்தடைந்தது.

எனவே, அதிகாலையில் அவர்களை நிலையான வேதனை திட்டமாக வந்தடைந்தது.

ஆகவே, அதிகாலையில் நிலையான வேதனை அவர்களுக்கு நிச்சயமாக ஏற்பட்டுவிட்டது.

By the early morning a lasting torment overtook them.

Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri

"Then taste you My torment and My Warnings."

So taste My punishment and warning.

நம்முடைய வேதனையையும், நம்முடைய அச்ச மூட்டலையும் நீங்கள் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள் (என்று கூறினோம்).

“ஆகவே, என்(னால் உண்டாகும்) வேதனையையும் எச்சரிக்கையையும் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்” (என்று கூறினோம்).

எனவே, “என்னுடைய வேதனையையும், (என்னுடைய) எச்சரிக்கையையும் நீங்கள் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்” (என்று கூறினோம்).

Taste My punishment and My warnings!

Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin

And indeed, We have made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

(மனிதர்கள்) நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறும் பொருட்டு இந்தக் குர்ஆனை, நிச்சயமாக நாம் மிக எளிதாக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றோம். (இதனைக் கொண்டு) நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறுபவர்கள் உண்டா?

நிச்சயமாக இக் குர்ஆனை நன்கு நினைவு படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் பொருட்டே எளிதாக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றோம். எனவே (இதிலிருந்து) நல்லுணர்வு பெறுவோர் உண்டா?  

திட்டமாக நாம், குர் ஆனை உபதேசம் பெறுவதற்காக எளிதாக்கி இருக்கின்றோம், (ஆகவே, இதனை கொண்டு) படிப்பினை பெறக்கூடியவர் உண்டா?

We have certainly made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember; is there anyone to take heed?

Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuru

And indeed, warnings came to the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) [through Mûsâ (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)].

And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning.

நிச்சயமாக, ஃபிர்அவ்னுடைய மக்களிடம் பல எச்சரிக்கைகள் வந்தன.

ஃபிர்அவ்னின் கூட்டத்தாருக்கும் அச்சமூட்டும் எச்சரிக்கைகள் வந்தன.

மேலும், நிச்சயமாக ஃபிர் அவ்னுடைய கூட்டத்தரரிடம் (பல) எச்சரிக்கையாளர்கள் வந்தனர்.

Indeed, warnings came to the people of Pharaoh.

Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirin

(They) denied all Our Signs, so We seized them with a Seizure of the All-Mighty, All-Capable (Omnipotent).

They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability.

நம்முடைய அத்தாட்சிகள் அனைத்தையும் அவர்கள் பொய்யாக்கிக் கொண்டே வந்தார்கள். ஆகவே, மிக்க சக்திவாய்ந்த பலசாலி பிடிப்பதைப் போல் நாம் அவர்களைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டோம்.

ஆனால் அவர்கள் நம்முடைய அத்தாட்சிகள் அனைத்தையும் பொய்யாக்கினர்; அப்போது, சக்தி வாய்ந்த (யாவற்றையும்) மிகைக்கின்றவனின் பிடியாக அவர்களை நாம் பிடித்துக் கொண்டோம்.

ஆனால், நம்முடைய அத்தாட்சிகளை_ அவை அனைத்தையும் அவர்கள் பொய்யாக்கினார்கள், ஆகவே, சக்தி வாய்ந்த மிகைப்பவனின் பிடியாக நாம் அவர்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டோம் (அவர்களில் யாரும் எஞ்சியிருக்கவில்லை).

But they rejected all of Our signs, so We seized them with the grip of the All-Mighty, Most Powerful.

Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburi

Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nûh (Noah), Lût (Lot), Sâlih, and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who were destroyed]? Or have you an immunity (against Our torment) in the Divine Scriptures?

Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture?

(மக்காவாசிகளே!) உங்களிலுள்ள நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் (அழிந்து போன) இவர்களைவிட மேலானவர்களா? அல்லது, (உங்களைத் தண்டிக்கப்படாது என்பதற்காக) உங்களுக்கு (ஏதேனும்) விடுதலைச் சீட்டு உண்டா?

(சென்று போன) அவர்களை விட உங்களிலுள்ள காஃபிர்கள் மேலானவர்களா? அல்லது, உங்களுக்கு (வேதனையிலிருந்து) விலக்கு இருப்பதாக வேத ஆதாரம் உண்டா?

(மக்காவாசிகளே!) உங்களிலுள்ள நிராகரித்துக்கொண்டிருப்போர் (முன்சென்றுபோன) அவர்களைவிட மிகச் சிறந்தவர்களா? அல்லது, (வேதனையிலிருந்து) உங்களுக்கு விலக்கு (பற்றி ஏதும்) வேதங்களில் இருக்கிறதா?

Are your disbelievers [O Makkans] superior than those, or have you been granted immunity in divine Scriptures?

Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirun

Or say they: "We are a great multitude, victorious?"

Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?

அல்லது, (நபியே!) நாங்கள் பெருங்கூட்டத்தினர் என்றும், நாங்கள் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் உதவி புரிந்து கொள்ளக் கூடியவர்கள். (எங்களுக்கு யாதொரு பயமுமில்லை;) என்றும் இவர்கள் கூறுகின்றனரா?

அல்லது (நபியே!) “நாங்கள் யாவரும் வெற்றி பெறுங் கூட்டத்தினர்” என்று அவர்கள் கூறுகின்றார்களா?

அல்லது (நபியே!) “நாங்கள் வெற்றி பெரும் (பெருங்) கூட்டத்தினர் என்று இவர்கள் கூறுகின்றனரா?

Or do they say, “We are a united front, bound to prevail.”?

Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura

Their multitude will be defeated, and they will show their backs.

[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].

அதிசீக்கிரத்தில் இவர்களுடைய கூட்டம் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டு, (இவர்கள்) புறங்காட்டிச் செல்வார்கள்.

அதிசீக்கிரத்தில் இக்கூட்டத்தினர் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டுப் புறங்காட்டி ஓடுவர்.

(இக்)கூட்டத்தினர் தோற்கடிக்கப்படுவார்கள், புறமுதுகிட்டும் ஓடுவார்கள்.

Soon their united front will be defeated, and they will flee.

Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarru

Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.

But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.

அன்றி, மறுமை நாள்தான் இவர்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட தவணை. அந்த மறுமை நாள் மிக்க திடுக்கமானதாகவும், மிக்க கசப்பாகவும் இருக்கும்.

அதுவுமின்றி, மறுமைதான் இவர்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட (சோதனைக்) காலமாகும்; மறுமை அவர்களுக்கு மிகக் கடுமையானதும் மிக்க கசப்பானதுமாகும்.

அதுவுமின்றி, மறுமைநாள் இவர்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட காலமாகும், மறுமை நாள் இவர்களுக்கு மிகப் பயங்கரமானது, மிக்க கசப்பானதுமாகும்.

But the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour is more catastrophic and more bitter.

Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurin

Verily, the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals) are in error (in this world) and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter).

Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness.

நிச்சயமாகக் குற்றவாளிகள் (இம்மையில்) வழிகேட்டிலும் (மறுமையில்) நரகத்திலும்தான் இருப்பார்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக, அக்குற்றவாளிகள் வழி கேட்டிலும், மதியிழந்தும் இருக்கின்றனர்.

நிச்சயமாகக் குற்றவாளிகள் வழிகேட்டிலும், பைத்தியத்திலும் இருக்கின்றனர்.

Indeed, the wicked are in error and will be in blazes.

Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqara

The Day they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell!"

The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar."

இவர்கள் நரகத்திற்கு முகங்குப்புற இழுத்துச் செல்லும் நாளில் இவர்களை நோக்கி "(உங்களை) நரக நெருப்பு பொசுக்குவதைச் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்" என்று கூறப்படும்.

அவர்களுடைய முகங்களின் மீது அவர்கள் நரகத்திற்கு இழுத்துச் செல்லப்படும் நாளில், “நரக நெருப்புத் தீண்டுவதைச் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்” (என்று அவர்களுக்கு கூறப்படும்).

இவர்கள் நரகத்திற்கு முகங்களின் மீது இழுத்து செல்லப்படும் நாளில், இவர்களிடம், (நீங்கள்) “நரக நெருப்பின் தீண்டுதலைச் சுவைத்துப்பாருங்கள்” (என்று கூறப்படும்).

On the Day when they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, [they will be told], “Taste the agony of Hell!”

Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarin

Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation as written in the Book of Decrees – Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).

Indeed, all things We created with predestination.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் ஒவ்வொரு பொருளையும் குறிப்பான திட்டப்படியே படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

நாம் ஒவ்வொரு பொருளையும் நிச்சயமாக (குறிப்பான) அளவின்படியே படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் ஒவ்வொரு பொருளையும், (நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்ட) அளவின்படியே படைத்திருக்கின்றோம்.

Indeed, We have created everything according to a determined measure.

Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bialbasari

And Our Commandment is but one as the twinkling of an eye.

And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.

(யாதொரு பொருளையும் நாம் படைக்க நாடினால்) நம்முடைய கட்டளை(யெல்லாம்) கண் சிமிட்டுவதைப் போன்ற ஒன்றுதான்.

நம்முடைய கட்டளை (நிறைவேறுவது) கண் மூடி விழிப்பது போன்ற ஒன்றே அன்றி வேறில்லை.

நம் கட்டளை (நிறைவேறுவது) கண்சிமிட்டுவது போன்ற ஒரு கணமே தவிர இல்லை.

Our command is but a single word, which is fulfilled in the blink of an eye.

Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakum fahal min muddakirin

And indeed, We have destroyed your likes; then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?

(மக்காவாசிகளே!) உங்கள் இனத்தாரில், (பாவம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த) எத்தனையோ வகுப்பார்களை நாம் அழித்திருக் கின்றோம். உங்களில் நல்லுணர்ச்சி பெறுபவர்கள் உண்டா?

(நிராகரிப்போரே!) உங்களில் எத்தனையோ வகுப்பார்களை நாம், நிச்சயமாக அழித்திருக்கின்றோம், எனவே (இதிலிருந்து) நல்லுணர்வு பெறுவோர் உண்டா?

(மக்காவாசிகளே!) உங்களைப்போன்ற (எத்தனையோ) வகுப்பார்களை நாம் நிச்சயமாக அழித்திருக்கின்றோம். ஆகவே (உங்களில்) படிப்பினை பெறக்கூடியவர் உண்டா?

We have destroyed many like you [O Makkans]; is there anyone to take heed?

Wakullu shayin faAAaloohu fee alzzuburi

And everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).

And everything they did is in written records.

இவர்கள் செய்கின்ற ஒவ்வொரு காரியமும் (அவர் களுடைய) பதிவுப் புத்தகத்தில் இருக்கின்றது.

அவர்கள் செய்யும் ஒவ்வொரு காரியமும் (அவர்களுக்கான) பதிவேடுகளில் இருக்கிறது.

அவர்கள் செய்துவிட்ட ஒவ்வொரு விஷயமும் (பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டு அவர்களுடைய) குறிப்பேடுகளில் இருக்கின்றது.

Everything they did is in the written records,

Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatarun

And everything, small and big, is written down (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz already beforehand, i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer) (See V.57:22 and its footnote).

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

சிறிதோ, பெரிதோ அனைத்துமே அதில் வரையப் பட்டிருக்கும்.

சிறிதோ, பெரிதோ அனைத்தும் (அதில்) வரையப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

ஒவ்வொரு சிறிதும், பெரிதும் (அதில்) வரையப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

and everything, small or big, is written down.

Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharin

Verily, the Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

நிச்சயமாக இறை அச்சமுடையவர்கள் சுவனபதிகளிலும், (அதிலுள்ள) நீரருவிகளின் சமீபத்திலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக பயபக்தியுடையவர்கள் சுவர்க்கச் சோலைகளில் (அவற்றிலுள்ள) ஆறுகளில் இருப்பார்கள்

நிச்சயமாக பயபக்தியுடையோர் சுவனபதிகளிலும் (அவற்றிலுள்ள) ஆறுகளிலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and rivers,

Fee maqAAadi sidqin AAinda maleekin muqtadirin

In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allâh, the One, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.

அது மெய்யாகவே மிக்க கண்ணியமுள்ள இருப்பிடம்; அது மிக்க சக்திவாய்ந்த அரசனிடமுள்ளது.

உண்மையான இருக்கையில் சர்வ வல்லமையுடைய அரசனின் (அருள்) அண்மையில் இருப்பார்கள்.

(மெய்யாகவே) மிக்க உண்மையான இருக்கையில், மிக்க சக்தி வாய்ந்த அரசனிடத்தில் இருப்பார்கள்.

seated in honor in the presence of the Most Powerful Sovereign.
