21 - al-Anbiya' (The Prophets) .

Iqtaraba lilnnasi hisabuhum wahum fee ghaflatin muAAridoona

Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness.

[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.

மனிதர்களை (நாம்) கேள்வி கணக்கு(க் கேட்கும் நாள்) நெருங்கிக் கொண்டே வருகின்றது; எனினும், அவர்களோ அதனைப் புறக்கணித்துக் கவலை அற்றவர்களாக இருக்கின்றனர்.

மனிதர்களுக்கு அவர்களுடைய கணக்கு விசாரணை (நாள்) நெருங்கி விட்டது; ஆனால் அவர்களோ (அதனைப்) புறக்கணித்துப் பராமுகமாக இருக்கிறார்கள்.

மனிதர்களுக்கு அவர்களுடைய (கேள்வி) கணக்கு (நாள்) நெருங்கிவிட்டது, அவர்களோ (அதனைப்) புறக்கணித்தவர்களாக மறதியில் இருக்கின்றனர்.

The reckoning of the people has drawn near, yet they are turning away heedlessly.

Ma yateehim min thikrin min rabbihim muhdathin illa istamaAAoohu wahum yalAAaboona

Comes not to them an admonition (a chapter of the Qur'ân) from their Lord as a recent Revelation but they listen to it while they play

No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play

தங்கள் இறைவனிடமிருந்து புதிதாக யாதொரு நல்லுபதேசம் வரும்போதெல்லாம் அதனை அவர்கள் (நம்பாது) பரிகாசம் செய்துகொண்டே கேட்கின்றார்கள்.

அவர்களுக்கு அவர்களுடைய இறைவனிடமிருந்து புதிய நினைவூட்டுதல் வரும்போது அவர்கள் விளையாடியவர்களாக அதை செவி மடுக்கிறார்களே தவிர வேறில்லை.

அவர்களுடைய இரட்சகனிடமிருந்து புதிதாக யாதொரு நினைவூட்டுதல் - அவர்கள் விளையாடியவர்களாக- அதைச் செவிமடுத்தேயல்லாது அவர்களுக்கு வருவதில்லை.

Whenever new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in jest,

Lahiyatan quloobuhum waasarroo alnnajwa allatheena thalamoo hal hatha illa basharun mithlukum afatatoona alssihra waantum tubsiroona

With their hearts occupied (with evil things). Those who do wrong, conceal their private counsels, (saying): "Is this (Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) more than a human being like you? Will you submit to magic while you see it?"

With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"

அவர்களுடைய உள்ளங்கள் (உண்மையைச்) சிந்திப்பதே இல்லை. அன்றி, இத்தகைய அநியாயக்காரர்கள் (நம்முடைய தூதரைப் பற்றி) "இவர் உங்களைப் போன்ற ஒரு மனிதரேயன்றி வேறென்ன? நீங்கள் பார்த்துக்கொண்டே (அவருடைய) சூனியத்தில் சிக்க வருகின்றீர்களா?" என்று தங்களுக்குள் இரகசியமாகப் பேசிக் கொள்கின்றனர்.

அவர்களுடைய உள்ளங்கள் அலட்சியமாக இருக்கின்றன; இன்னும் இத்தகைய அநியாயக்காரர்கள் தம்மிடையே இரகசியமாக: “இவர் உங்களைப் போன்ற ஒரு மனிதரே அன்றி வேறில்லை; நீங்கள் நன்கு பார்த்துக் கொண்டே (அவருடைய) சூனியத்தின்பால் வருகிறீர்களா?” என்று கூறிக்கொள்கின்றனர்.

அவர்களுடைய உள்ளங்கள் (உண்மையைச் சிந்திக்காது) மறதியாக இருக்கும் நிலையில் - (செவியேற்கின்றனர்) இன்னும், இத்தகைய அநியாயக்காரர்கள், (நம்முடைய தூதரைப்பற்றி) “இவர் உங்களைப் போன்ற ஒரு மனிதரேயன்றி, (வேறு) இல்லை, நீங்கள் பார்த்துக் கொண்டே இருக்க (அவருடைய) சூனியத்திற்கு (அதைப்பின்பற்றி) வருகிறீர்களா?” என்று தங்களுக்குள் இரகசியமாகப் பேசிக்கொள்கின்றனர்.

with their hearts heedless. The wrongdoers whisper to one another in secret, “Is this but a human being just like yourselves? Will you then follow his magic, although you openly see?”

Qala rabbee yaAAlamu alqawla fee alssamai waalardi wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

He (Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) said: "My Lord knows (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower."

The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."

"வானங்களிலோ பூமியிலோ (ரகசியமாகவும், வெளிப்படை யாகவும் பேசப்படும்) எல்லா வாக்கியங்களையும் என் இறைவன் நன்கறிவான். ஏனென்றால், அவன் (அனைத்தையும்) செவியுறுபவனும் நன்கறிபவனாகவும் இருக்கின்றான்" என்று (நமது தூதர்) பதில் கூறினார்.

“என்னுடைய இறைவன் வானங்களிலும் பூமியிலும் (பேசப்படும்) சொல்லையெல்லாம் நன்கறிபவன்; அவன் (யாவற்றையும்) செவியேற்பவனாகவும் அறிபவனாகவும் இருக்கின்றான்” என்று அவர் கூறினார்.

“என்னுடைய இரட்சகன், வானிலும் பூமியிலும் உள்ள கூற்றை நன்கறிவான், (ஏனென்றால்) அவனோ (யாவையும்) செவியேற்கிறவன், நன்கறிகிறவன்” என்று (நபியாகிய) அவர் கூறினார்.

He said, “My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and earth, for He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”

Bal qaloo adghathu ahlamin bali iftarahu bal huwa shaAAirun falyatina biayatin kama orsila alawwaloona

Nay, they say:"These (Revelations of the Qur'ân which are inspired to Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) are mixed up false dreams! Nay, he has invented it! Nay, he is a poet! Let him then bring us an Ayâh (sign as a proof) like the ones that the former (Prophets) were sent (with)!"

But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."

(தவிர, அவர்கள் நம்முடைய வசனங்களைப் பற்றி) "இவை சிதறிய சிந்தனை(யால் ஏற்பட்ட வாக்கியங்கள்) என்றும், நம்முடைய தூதர் இதனைப் பொய்யாகத் தாமே கற்பனை செய்துகொண்டார் என்றும், இவர் ஒரு கவிஞர்தான்; (தன் கவிதை ஆற்றலால் அமைத்த வாக்கியங்களே இவை) என்றும் (கூறுவதுடன்) முற்காலத்தில் வந்த தூதர்கள் (கொண்டு வந்ததைப்) போல இவரும் (நாம் விரும்புகிறவாறு) ஓர் அத்தாட்சியை நம்மிடம் கொண்டு வரட்டும்" என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர்!

அப்படியல்ல! “இவை கலப்படமான கனவுகள்” இல்லை, “அதனை இவரே கற்பனை செய்து கொண்டார்” இல்லை, “இவர் ஒரு கவிஞர்தாம்” (என்று காஃபிர்கள் பலவாறாகக் குழம்பிக் கூறுவதுடன்) முந்தைய (நபிமார்களுக்கு) அனுப்பப்பட்டது போல் இவரும் ஓர் அத்தாட்சியை நம்மிடம் கொண்டு வரட்டும்” என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர்.

அதற்கவர்கள் அவ்வாறல்ல! “இவை அர்த்தமற்ற கனவுகளாகும்!, அல்ல, அவரே அதனை(ப் பொய்யாக)க் கற்பனை செய்து கொண்டார்! அல்ல, அவர் ஒரு கவிஞர்” ஆகவே, (அவர் அல்லாஹ்வின் உண்மையான தூதராக இருப்பின்) முந்தையவர்கள் (அத்தாட்சிகளுடன்) அனுப்பப்பட்டது போன்று இவரும் (நாம் விரும்புகிறவாறு) ஓர் அத்தாட்சியை நம்மிடம் கொண்டு வரட்டும்” என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.

Yet they say, “This [Qur’an] is a set of jumbled dreams! Rather, he has fabricated it! Rather, he is a poet! So let him bring us a sign such as the earlier messengers were sent with.”

Ma amanat qablahum min qaryatin ahlaknaha afahum yuminoona

Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs); will they then believe?

Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe?

இவர்களுக்கு முன்னர் நாம் அழித்துவிட்ட ஊராரில் ஒருவருமே (அவர்கள் விரும்பிய அத்தாட்சிகளைக் கண்ட பின்னர்) நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளவில்லை. (அவ்வாறிருக்க) இவர்கள்தாமா நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளப் போகின்றனர்!

இவர்களுக்கு முன்னர் நாம் அழித்து விட்ட எந்த ஊ(ரா)ரும் ஈமான் கொள்ளவில்லை; அவ்வாறிருக்க இவர்கள் ஈமான் கொள்வார்களா?

இவர்களுக்கு முன்னர், நாம் அதை அழித்துவிட்ட எந்த ஊ(ரா)ரும் விசுவாசங்கொள்ளவில்லை, (அவ்வாறிருக்க) இவர்கள் விசுவாசங்கொள்வார்களா?

Not a single town We destroyed before them believed [after receiving signs]; will they then believe?

Wama arsalna qablaka illa rijalan noohee ilayhim faisaloo ahla alththikri in kuntum la taAAlamoona

And We sent not before you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) but men to whom We revealed. So ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures – the Taurât (Torah), the Injîl (Gospel)] if you do not know.

And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know.

(நபியே!) உங்களுக்கு முன்னரும் (மனிதர்களில்) ஆண்களையே தவிர வேறொருவரையும் நாம் நம்முடைய தூதராக அனுப்பவில்லை. (உங்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பது போன்றே நம்முடைய கட்டளைகளை) அவர்களுக்கும் வஹ்யி (மூலம்) அறிவித்தோம். ஆகவே, (இவர்களை நோக்கி நீங்கள் கூறுங்கள்: இது) உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதிருந்தால் முன்னுள்ள வேதத்தை உடையவரிடத்தில் கேட்டு அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்.

(நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னரும் மானிடர்களையே அன்றி (வேறெவரையும்) நம்முடைய தூதர்களாக நாம் அனுப்பவில்லை; அவர்களுக்கே நாம் வஹீ அறிவித்தோம். எனவே “(இதனை) நீங்கள் அறியாதவர்களாக இருந்தால் (நினைவுபடுத்தும்) வேதங்களுடையோரிடம் கேட்டுத் (தெரிந்து) கொள்ளுங்கள்” (என்று நபியே! அவர்களிடம் கூறும்).

மேலும், (நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னரும்) மனிதர்களிலிருந்து) ஆடவர்களையே அன்றி, வேறெவரையும் நாம் நம்முடைய தூதராக அனுப்பவில்லை, (உமக்கு அறிவிக்கிற பிரகாரமே) அவர்களுக்கு நாம் வஹீ அறிவித்தோம், ஆகவே, (இவர்களிடம் நீர் கூறுவீராக! இதனை) நீங்கள் அறியாதவர்களாக இருந்தால் (வேதத்தை) அறிந்தோரிடம் கேட்டுக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.

We did not send before you [O Prophet] except men to whom We gave revelation, so [O people] ask the People of the Scriptures if you do not know.

Wama jaAAalnahum jasadan la yakuloona alttaAAama wama kanoo khalideena

And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals.

And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].

அன்றி, அவர்களுக்கு நாம் உணவே உட்கொள்ளாத உடலைக் கொடுக்கவில்லை. தவிர, அவர்கள் (பூமியில் என்றுமே மரணிக்காத) நிரந்தரம் பெற்றவர்களாகவும் இருக்கவில்லை.

அன்றியும் நாம் அவர்களுக்கு உணவு அருந்தாத உடலை அமைக்கவில்லை; மேலும், (பூமியில்) நிரந்தரமானவர்களாகவும் அவர்களிருக்கவில்லை.

அன்றியும், அவர்களுக்கு உணவே உண்ணாதிருக்கக்கூடிய உடலை நாம் ஆக்கவில்லை, மேலும், அவர்கள் (பூமியில்) நிரந்தரமானவர்களாகவும் இருக்கவில்லை.

We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they immortal.

Thumma sadaqnahumu alwaAAda faanjaynahum waman nashao waahlakna almusrifeena

Then We fulfilled to them the promise. So We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifûn (i.e. disbelievers in Allâh, in His Messengers, extravagants, transgressors of Allâh's limits by committing crimes, oppression, polytheism and sins).

Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.

பின்னர், (அவர்களை பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்வதாக நாம்) அவர்களுக்களித்த வாக்குறுதியை உண்மையாக்கும் பொருட்டு அவர்களையும், நாம் விரும்பிய மற்றவர்களையும் பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டு வரம்புமீறியவர்களை அழித்துவிட்டோம்.

பின்னர், (நம்) வாக்குறுதியை அவர்களுக்கு நாம் நிறைவேற்றினோம்; அவ்வாறு நாம் அவர்களையும், நாம் நாடியவர்களையும் காப்பாற்றினோம்; ஆனால் வரம்பு மீறியவர்களை நாம் அழித்தோம்.

பின்னர், (அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றுவதாக,) அவர்களுக்கு (அளித்த) வாக்குறுதியை நாம் உண்மையாக்கினோம், ஆகவே அவர்களையும், நாம் நாடியவர்களையும் காப்பாற்றினோம், வரம்பு மீறியவர்களை நாம் அழித்தும் விட்டோம்.

Then We fulfilled Our promise to them: We saved them and those whom We willed, and destroyed those who transgressed all bounds.

Laqad anzalna ilaykum kitaban feehi thikrukum afala taAAqiloona

Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book (the Qur'ân) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you, i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Qur'ân and acts on its teachings). Will you not then understand?

We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason?

உங்களுக்கு(ப் போதுமான) நல்லுபதேசங்கள் உள்ள வேதத்தையே நிச்சயமாக உங்களுக்கு அருளியிருக்கின்றோம். இவ்வளவு கூட நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டாமா?

உங்களுக்கு நிச்சயமாக நாம் ஒரு வேதத்தை அருளியிருக்கின்றோம்; அதில் உங்களின் கண்ணியம் இருக்கின்றது. நீங்கள் அறிய மாட்டீர்களா?  

திட்டமாக, உங்கள் பால் ஒரு வேதத்தை நாம் இறக்கி இருக்கிறோம் - அதில் உங்களுடைய நினைவுகூர்தல் (உங்களைப்பற்றிய சிறப்பு) இருக்கிறது, (அதை) நீங்கள் விளங்கிக் கொள்ள மாட்டீர்களா?

We have sent down to you [O people] a Book in which there is honor for you. Do you not then understand?

Wakam qasamna min qaryatin kanat thalimatan waanshana baAAdaha qawman akhareena

How many a town (community) given to wrongdoing, have We destroyed, and raised up after them another people!

And how many a city which was unjust have We shattered and produced after it another people.

அநியாயக்காரர்கள் வசித்த எத்தனையோ ஊர்களை நாம் அழித்து நாசமாக்கி விட்டோம். அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னர் (அவ்விடத்தில்) வேறு மக்களை உற்பத்தி செய்தோம்.

மேலும், அநியாயக்கார(ர்கள் வாழ்ந்த) ஊர்கள் எத்தனையோ நாம் அழித்தோம்; அதற்குப் பின் (அங்கு) வேறு சமூகத்தை உண்டாக்கினோம்.

அநியாயம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த எத்தனையோ ஊர்களை நாம் அழித்து விட்டோம், அதற்குப் பின்னர், (அவ்விடத்தில்) வேறு சமூகத்தவர்களை உண்டாக்கினோம்.

[Imagine] how many towns of evildoers We have destroyed, and raised up after them another people!

Falamma ahassoo basana itha hum minha yarkudoona

Then, when they perceived (saw) Our torment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it.

And when its inhabitants perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it.

அவர்களும் நம்முடைய வேதனையின் அறிகுறியை உணர்ந்துகொண்ட மாத்திரத்தில் தங்கள் ஊரைவிட்டு ஓட ஆரம்பித்தார்கள்.

ஆகவே, அவர்கள் நமது வேதனை (வருவதை) உணர்ந்தபோது, அவர்கள் அங்கிருந்து விரைந்தோடலானார்கள்.

அவர்கள் மீது வேதனையை (அது அவர்களுக்கு வரவிருப்பதை) உணர்ந்து கொண்டபொழுது, அதே சமயம் அவர்கள் அங்கிருந்து (துரிதமாக) வெருண்டோடலானார்கள்.

When they sensed Our punishment, they started running away from it.

La tarkudoo wairjiAAoo ila ma otriftum feehi wamasakinikum laAAallakum tusaloona

Flee not, but return to that wherein you lived a luxurious life, and to your homes, in order that you may be questioned.

[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."

(அச்சமயம் நாம் அவர்களை நோக்கி) "நீங்கள் ஓடாதீர்கள்! நீங்கள் மிக்க ஆடம்பரமாக அனுபவித்து வந்த செல்வத்தின் பக்கமும், வசித்திருந்த உங்கள் வீடுகளுக்கும் நீங்கள் திரும்புங்கள். அங்கு நீங்கள் அதுபற்றி கேட்கப்படுவீர்கள்" (என்று கூறினோம்.)

“விரைந்து ஓடாதீர்கள், நீங்கள் அனுபவித்த சுக போகங்களுக்கும், உங்கள் வீடுகளுக்கும் திரும்பி வாருங்கள்; (அவை பற்றி) நீங்கள் கேள்வி கேட்கப்படுவதற்காக” (என்று அவர்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது).

(அது சமயம்) “நீங்கள் வெருண்டோடாதீர்கள்! எதில் நீங்கள் சுகபோக வாழ்வு கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தீர்களோ அதன்பாலும், இன்னும் உங்கள் குடியிருப்புகளின்பாலும் திரும்பிச் செல்லுங்கள், நீங்கள் (அதுபற்றிக்) கேட்கப்படலாம்” (என்று கூறினோம்).

“Do not run away, but return to your luxuries and dwellings, perhaps you will be questioned.”

Qaloo ya waylana inna kunna thalimeena

They cried: "Woe to us! Certainly we have been Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh)."

They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

அதற்கவர்கள் "எங்களுடைய கேடே! நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் வரம்பு மீறி (பாவிகளாகி) விட்டோம்" என்று கூக்குரலிட்டார்கள்.

(இதற்கு அவர்கள்) “எங்கள் கேடே! நாங்கள் நிச்சயமாக அநியாயக்காரர்களாக இருந்தோம்” என்று வருந்திக் கூறினார்கள்.

அ(தற்க)வர்கள்” எங்களுடைய கேடே! நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் (இரட்சகனை மறுத்து) அநியாயக்காரர்களாக இருந்தோம்” என (வருந்தி)க் கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “Woe to us! We were indeed wrongdoers.”

Fama zalat tilka daAAwahum hatta jaAAalnahum haseedan khamideena

And that cry of theirs ceased not, till We made them as a field that is reaped, extinct (dead).

And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].

அவர்களுடைய அக்கூக்குரல் அவர்களை நாம் அழித்துச் சாம்பலாக்கும் வரையில் நீங்காதிருந்தது.

அறுவடை செய்யப்பட்ட வயலின் அரிதாள்கள் எரிந்தழிவது போன்று அவர்களை நாம் ஆக்கும் வரை அவர்களுடைய இக்கூப்பாடு ஓயவில்லை.

அறுவடை செய்யப்பட்ட (வயலின்) அரிதாள்களைப் போன்று கரிந்து அழிந்து விட்டவர்களாக நாம் அவர்களை ஆக்கும் வரையில் (எங்களுடைய கேடே! என்ற) இதுவே அவர்களின் அழைப்பாக, (கூப்பாடாக) நீங்காமல் இருந்தது.

They kept crying out loud this until We mowed them down, lifeless.

Wama khalaqna alssamaa waalarda wama baynahuma laAAibeena

We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a (mere) play.

And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.

வானங்களையும், பூமியையும், அதற்கு மத்தியில் உள்ளவைகளையும் வீண் விளையாட்டுக்காக நாம் படைக்கவில்லை.

மேலும், வானையும், பூமியையும் அவற்றுக்கு இடையே இருப்பவற்றையும் விளையாட்டுக்கான நிலையில் நாம் படைக்கவில்லை.

வானையும், பூமியையும், அவ்விரண்டிற்கு மத்தியிலுள்ளவைகளையும் விளையாடியவர்களாக (வீண் விளையாட்டுக்காக) நாம் படைக்கவில்லை.

We did not create the heavens and earth and all that is between them for fun.

Law aradna an nattakhitha lahwan laittakhathnahu min ladunna in kunna faAAileena

Had We intended to take a pastime (i.e. a wife or a son), We could surely have taken it from Us, if We were going to do (that).

Had We intended to take a diversion, We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so.

நாம் வீண் விளையாட்டுக்காரனாக இருந்து விளையாட வேண்டும் என்று நாம் கருதியும் இருந்தால் நம்மிடமுள்ள (நமக்குத் தகுதியான)தை நாம் எடுத்து (விளையாடி)க் கொண்டிருப்போம்.

வீண் விளையாட்டுக்கென (எதனையும்) நாம் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள நாடி, (அவ்வாறு) நாம் செய்வதாக இருந்தால் நம்மிடத்தி(ல் உள்ள நமக்கு தகுதியானவற்றி)லிருந்தே அதனை நாம் எடுத்திருப்போம்.

(வீண்) விளையாட்டுக்கென (மனைவி, மக்கள் கொண்ட) எதனையும் ஆக்கிக்கொள்ள நாம் நாடி, (அதை) செய்வோராக நாம் இருந்திருப்பின் நம்மிடத்தில் உள்ளவற்றிலிருந்தே அதை நாம் எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போம்.

If We had wished for a pastime, We could have had it from Our own, if We were to do so.

Bal naqthifu bialhaqqi AAala albatili fayadmaghuhu faitha huwa zahiqun walakumu alwaylu mimma tasifoona

Nay, We fling (send down) the truth (this Qur'ân) against the falsehood (disbelief), so it destroys it, and behold, it (falsehood) is vanished. And woe to you for that (lie) which you ascribe (to Allâh by uttering that Allâh has a wife and a son).

Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.

அவ்வாறன்று; மெய்யைப் பொய்யின் மீது எறிகின்றோம். அது (அதன் தலையை) உடைத்து விடுகின்றது. பின்னர் அது அழிந்தும் விடுகின்றது. (ஆகவே, இறைவனைப் பற்றி அவனுக்கு மனைவி உண்டென்றும், சந்ததி உண்டென்றும்) நீங்கள் கூறுபவற்றின் காரணமாக உங்களுக்குக் கேடுதான்.

அவ்வாறில்லை! நாம் சத்தியத்தை கொண்டு, அசத்தியத்தின் மீது வீசுகிறோம்; அதனால், (சத்தியம் அசத்தியத்தின் சிரசைச்) சிதறடித்துவிடுகிறது; பின்னர் (அசத்தியம்) அழிந்தே போய்விடுகிறது. ஆகவே, நீங்கள் (கற்பனையாக இட்டுக்கட்டி) வர்ணிப்பதெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு கேடுதான்.

அவ்வாறன்று! சத்தியத்தை அசத்தியத்தின் மீது எறிகின்றோம், அ(ந்த சத்தியமான)து அ(சத்தியத்)தை அடக்கி விடுகின்றது, உடனே அது அழிந்து விடுகின்றது, அல்லாஹ்வைப் பற்றி அவனுக்கு தகுதியற்றவைகளை(க் கூறி) நீங்கள் வர்ணிப்பதிலிருந்து உங்களுக்குக் கேடுதான் (உண்டு)

Rather, We hurl the truth at falsehood, and it crushes it, so it vanishes. Woe to you for what you falsely ascribe [to Allah]!

Walahu man fee alssamawati waalardi waman AAindahu la yastakbiroona AAan AAibadatihi wala yastahsiroona

To Him belongs whosoever is in the heavens and on earth. And those who are near Him (i.e. the angels) are not too proud to worship Him, nor are they weary (of His worship).

To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire.

வானங்களிலும் பூமியிலுமுள்ள யாவும் அவனுக்குரியனவே! அவனுடைய சந்நிதியில் இருக்கக்கூடிய (முகர்ரபான மலக்குகளாயினும் சரி; அவர்களும் அவனுடைய அடியார்களே! அ)வர்கள் அவனை வணங்காது பெருமையடிக்கவும் சோர்வுறவும் மாட்டார்கள்.

வானங்களிலும் பூமியிலும் உள்ளோரெல்லாம் அவனுக்கே உரியோராவார்கள்; மேலும் அவனிடம் இருப்பவர்கள் அவனுக்கு வணங்குவதை விட்டுப் பெருமையடிக்க மாட்டார்கள்; சோர்வடையவுமாட்டார்கள்.

வானங்களிலும், பூமியிலும் உள்ளோர் அவனுக்கே உரியவர்கள், மேலும் அவனிடமிருப்பவர்கள் (ஆகிய மலக்குகள்) அவனை வணங்குவதை விட்டும் பெருமையடிக்க மாட்டார்கள், சோர்வடையவுமாட்டார்கள்.

To Him belongs all those who are in the heavens and earth. Those [angels] who are with Him are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they ever grow weary.

Yusabbihoona allayla waalnnahara la yafturoona

They (i.e. the angels) glorify His Praises night and day, (and) they never slacken (to do so).

They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken.

அவர்கள் இரவு பகல் எந்நேரமும் இடைவிடாது அவனைப் போற்றி புகழ்ந்துகொண்டே இருக்கின்றனர்.

இடைவிடாமல் அவர்கள் இரவிலும், பகலிலும் அவனைத் துதித்துக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறார்கள்.

அவர்கள் இரவிலும், பகலிலும் துதி செய்கின்றனர், (ஆனால் அதில்) அவர்கள் தளர்ச்சியடையமாட்டார்கள்.

They glorify Him day and night tirelessly.

Ami ittakhathoo alihatan mina alardi hum yunshiroona

Or have they taken (for worship) âlihah (gods) from the earth who raise the dead?

Or have men taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]?

பூமியில் உள்ளவற்றை இவர்கள் கடவுள்களாக எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனரே அவை (மரணித்தவர்களை) உயிர்ப்பிக்குமா?

பூமியில் உள்ளவற்றிலிருந்து இவர்கள் தெய்வங்களை எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றார்களே! அவை (இறந்தோரை) உயிர் கொடுத்து எழுப்புமா?

பூமியிலுள்ளவற்றிலிருந்து அவர்கள் (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) தெய்வங்காளக எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனரே அவர்கள் (மரணித்தோரை) உயிர் கொடுத்து எழுப்புவார்களா?

Or have they taken gods from the earth who [cannot even] resurrect the dead?

Law kana feehima alihatun illa Allahu lafasadata fasubhana Allahi rabbi alAAarshi AAamma yasifoona

Had there been therein (in the heavens and the earth) âlihah (gods) besides Allâh, then verily, both would have been ruined. Glorified is Allâh, the Lord of the Throne, (High is He) above all that (evil) they associate with Him!

Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allah, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.

வானங்களிலும் பூமியிலும் அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர வேறு கடவுள்கள் இருந்திருந்தால் அவை இரண்டுமே அழிந்தே போயிருக்கும். அர்ஷின் அதிபதியாகிய அல்லாஹ், அவர்கள் வர்ணிக்கும் (இத்தகைய குற்றம் குறைகளான) தன்மைகளிலிருந்து மிகப் பரிசுத்தமானவன்.

(வான், பூமி ஆகிய) இவற்றில் அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி வேறு தெய்வங்கள் இருந்திருந்தால், நிச்சயமாக இவையிரண்டும் அழிந்தே போயிருக்கும், அர்ஷுடைய இறைவனாம் அல்லாஹ், அவர்கள் வர்ணிக்கும் (இத்தகைய) தன்மைகளிலிருந்து மிகவும் தூய்மையானவன்.

(வானங்கள், பூமி ஆகிய) அவை இரண்டிலும் அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) வேறு தெய்வங்கள் இருந்திருந்தால், அவை இரண்டும் சீர்குலைந்து (அழிந்து) போயிருக்கும், ஆகவே, அர்ஷின் இரட்சகனாகிய அல்லாஹ், அவர்கள் வர்ணிக்கும் (இத்தகைய) தன்மைகளிலிருந்து மிகப்பரிசுத்தமானவன்.

If there had been gods besides Allah in the heavens and earth, both realms would have fallen in disorder. Glory be to Allah – Lord of the Throne – far above what they ascribe [to Him].

La yusalu AAamma yafAAalu wahum yusaloona

He cannot be questioned as to what He does, while they will be questioned.

He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.

அவன் செய்பவைகளைப் பற்றி (ஏன் செய்தாய், எதற்காகச் செய்தாய் என்று) எவருமே அவனைக் கேட்க முடியாது. (அவ்வளவு சர்வ சுதந்திரமும், வல்லமையும் உள்ளவன்.) எனினும், அவனோ அனைவரையும் (அவரவர்களுடைய செயலைப் பற்றிக்) கேட்கக் கூடியவன்.

அவன் செய்பவை பற்றி எவரும் அவனைக் கேட்க முடியாது; ஆனால், அவர்கள் தாம் (அவர்கள் செய்யும் செயல்கள் பற்றி) கேட்கப்படுவார்கள்.

அவன் செய்பவைகளைப் பற்றி, (எவராலும் விசாரணை செய்து) அவன் கேட்கப்பட மாட்டான், (ஆனால்) அவர்கள்தாம் (அவனால் விசாரணை செய்து) கேட்கப்படுவர்.

He cannot be questioned for what He does, but they will be questioned.

Ami ittakhathoo min doonihi alihatan qul hatoo burhanakum hatha thikru man maAAiya wathikru man qablee bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona alhaqqa fahum muAAridoona

Or have they taken for worship (other) âlihah (gods) besides Him? Say: "Bring your proof. This (the Qur'ân) is the Reminder for those with me and the Reminder for those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, so they are averse.

Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muhammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur'an] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me." But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.

(நபியே!) இவர்கள் அல்லாஹ் அல்லாதவைகளைத் கடவுள்களாக எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனரா? (அவ்வாறாயின் அவர்களை நோக்கி) "என்னுடன் இருப்பவர்களின் வேதமும், எனக்கு முன்னுள்ளவர்களின் வேதமும் இதோ இருக்கின்றன. (இவற்றிலிருந்து இதற்கு) உங்களுடைய அத்தாட்சியை நீங்கள் கொண்டு வாருங்கள்" என்று கூறுங்கள். எனினும், அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலானவர்கள் உண்மையை அறிந்துகொள்ள சக்தி அற்றவர்கள். ஆதலால் அவர்கள் (இவ்வேதத்தையும்) புறக்கணிக்கின்றனர்.

அல்லது, அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி (வேறு) தெய்வங்களை எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்களா? “அப்படியாயின், உங்கள் அத்தாட்சியை நீங்கள் கொண்டு வாருங்கள்; இதோ என்னுடன் இருப்பவர்களின் வேதமும், எனக்கு முன்பு இருந்தவர்களின் வேதமும் இருக்கின்றன” என்று நபியே! நீர் கூறும்; ஆனால் அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் சத்தியத்தை அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை; ஆகவே அவர்கள் (அதைப்) புறக்கணிக்கிறார்கள்.

(நபியே!) அவர்கள் அவனையன்றி (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) வேறு தெய்வங்களை எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனரா? “(அவ்வாறாயின், அது பற்றிய) உங்கள் ஆதாரத்தைக் கொண்டு வாருங்கள், (இன்னும், அவர்களிடம்) இது (-குர் ஆன்) என்னுடன் இருப்பவர்களின் உபதேசமும், எனக்கு முன் சென்றவர்களின் உபதேசமுமாகும்” என்று கூறுவீராக! எனினும் அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் உண்மையை அறிந்து கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள், ஆகவே, (இதனை) அவர்கள் புறக்கணிக்கக் கூடியவர்கள்.

Or have they taken other gods besides Him? Say, “Bring your proof. Here is the Book of those who are with me, and the Book of those who came before me.” Yet most of them do not know the truth, so they turn away.

Wama arsalna min qablika min rasoolin illa noohee ilayhi annahu la ilaha illa ana faoAAbudooni

And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) but We revealed to him (saying): Lâ ilâha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allâh)], so worship Me (Alone and none else)."

And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."

உங்களுக்கு முன்னர் நாம் அனுப்பிய தூதர்களுக்கெல்லாம் "நிச்சயமாக என்னைத் தவிர வேறு இறைவனில்லை; என்னையே நீங்கள் வணங்குங்கள்" என்று நாம் வஹ்யி அறிவிக்காமலில்லை.

(நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னர் நாம் அனுப்பிய ஒவ்வொரு தூதரிடமும்: “நிச்சயமாக (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) நாயன் என்னைத் தவிர வேறு எவருமில்லை; எனவே, என்னையே நீங்கள் வணங்குங்கள்” என்று நாம் வஹீ அறிவிக்காமலில்லை.

மேலும், நிச்சயமாக என்னைத் தவிர (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) இறைவன் இல்லை, எனவே, என்னையே நீங்கள் வணங்க வேண்டும் என்று நாம் வஹீ அறிவிக்காமல் (நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னர் எந்தத் தூதரையும் நாம் அனுப்பவில்லை.

“We never sent before you [O Prophet] any messenger without revealing to him that none has the right to be worshiped except Me, so worship Me.”

Waqaloo ittakhatha alrrahmanu waladan subhanahu bal AAibadun mukramoona

And they say: "The Most Gracious (Allâh) has begotten a son (or children)." Glory to Him! They [whom they call children of Allâh i.e. the angels, 'خsâ (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary), 'Uzair (Ezra)], are but honoured slaves.

And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants.

(அவ்வாறிருந்தும்) இவர்கள் ரஹ்மான் (மலக்குகளை தனக்குப் பெண்) சந்ததியாக்கிக் கொண்டான் என்று கூறுகின்றனர். அவனோ மிகப் பரிசுத்தமானவன். (மலக்குகள் அவனுடைய சந்ததிகளன்று, எனினும், அவனுடைய) கண்ணியமிக்க அடியார்கள்.

அவர்கள:; “அர்ரஹ்மான் ஒரு குமாரனைத் தனக்கென எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றான்” என்று கூறுகிறார்கள்; (ஆனால்) அவனோ மிகவும் தூயவன்! அப்படியல்ல: (அல்லாஹ்வின் குமாரர்கள் என்று இவர்கள் கூறுவோரெல்லோரும் அல்லாஹ்வின்) கண்ணியமிக்க அடியார்களே ஆவார்கள்.

மேலும், அவர்கள், “அர்ரஹ்மான் (தனக்காக) குமாரனை எடுத்துக் கொண்டான்” என்று கூறுகின்றனர், அவன் மிகப் பரிசுத்தமானவன், (மலக்குகள் அவனுடைய சந்ததிகள்) அல்ல. (அவர்கள் அவனுடைய) கண்ணியமிக்க அடியார்கள்.

They say, “The Most Compassionate has begotten offspring!” Glory be to Him! In fact, those [angels] are His honored slaves.

La yasbiqoonahu bialqawli wahum biamrihi yaAAmaloona

They speak not until He has spoken, and they act on His Command.

They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.

(அவன் சந்நிதியில்) இ(வ்வான)வர்கள் யாதொரு வார்த்தையும் மீறிப் பேச மாட்டார்கள். அவன் இட்ட கட்டளையை இவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டு இருப்பார்கள்.

அவர்கள் (எந்த ஒரு பேச்சையும்) அவனை முந்திப் பேச மாட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் அவன் கட்டளைப் படியே (எதையும்) செய்கிறார்கள்.

சொல்லைக்கொண்டு அவனை அவர்கள் முந்தவுமாட்டார்கள், அவர்களோ அவனின் கட்டளையைக் கொண்டு செயல்படுவார்கள்.

They do not speak before He speaks, and they only do as He commands.

YaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yashfaAAoona illa limani irtada wahum min khashyatihi mushfiqoona

He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased. And they stand in awe for fear of Him.

He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.

அவர்களுக்கு முன்னிருப்பவைகளையும், பின்னிருப்ப லிவைகளையும் அவன் நன்கறிவான். அவன் விரும்பியவர் லிகளுக்கன்றி மற்றெவருக்கும் இவர்கள் சிபாரிசு செய்ய மாட்டார்கள். அவனுக்குப் பயந்து நடுங்கிக் கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்.

அவர்களுக்கு முன்னால் இருப்பவற்றையும், அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னால் இருப்பவற்றையும் அவன் நன்கறிவான்; இன்னும் எவரை அவன் பொருந்தி ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறானோ அ(த் தகைய)வருக்கன்றி - அவர்கள் பரிந்து பேச மாட்டார்கள். இன்னும் அவர்கள் அவன் பால் உள்ள அச்சத்தால் நடுங்குபவர்களாகவும் இருக்கின்றார்கள்.

அவர்களுக்கு முன்னிருப்பவற்றையும் பின்னிருப்பவற்றையும் அவன் நன்கறிவான், அவன் பொருந்திக் கொண்டவரைத் தவிர (மற்றெவருக்கும்) இவர்கள் பரிந்துரை செய்யவுமாட்டார்கள், இன்னும் அவனது பயத்தால் அவர்கள் நடுங்குபவர்களாவர்.

He knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them. They cannot intercede except for whom He pleases, and they are fearful in awe of Him.

Waman yaqul minhum innee ilahun min doonihi fathalika najzeehi jahannama kathalika najzee alththalimeena

And if any of them should say: "Verily, I am an ilâh (a god) besides Him (Allâh)," such a one We should recompense with Hell. Thus We recompense the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him"- that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

அவர்களில் எவரேனும் "அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி நிச்சயமாக நானும் ஒரு வணக்கத்திற்குரிய இறைவன்தான்" என்று (அந்த மலக்குகள்) கூறினால், அவர்களுக்கும் நரகத்தையே நாம் கூலியாக்குவோம். அநியாயக்காரர்களுக்கு நாம் கூலி கொடுக்கும் அவ்வாறே (அவர்களுக்கும் கூலி) கொடுப்போம்.

இன்னும், அவர்களில் எவரேனும் “அவனன்றி நிச்சயமாக நானும் நாயன்தான்” என்று கூறுவாரேயானால், அ(த்தகைய)வருக்கு - நாம் நரகத்தையே கூலியாகக் கொடுப்போம் - இவ்வாறே நாம் அநியாயக்காரர்களுக்குக் கூலி கொடுப்போம்.

இன்னும் அவர்களில் எவர், “(அல்லாஹ்வாகிய) அவனையன்றி நிச்சயமாக நான்தான் (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) நாயன்” என்று கூறுகிறாரோ அ(வ்வாறு கூறுப)வர் - அவருக்கு நரகத்தையே நாம் கூலியாகக் கொடுப்போம், அநியாயக்காரர்களுக்கு இவ்வாறே நாம் கூலி கொடுப்போம்.

If anyone of them were to say, “I am god besides Him,” We would punish him with Hell. This is how We punish the wrongdoers.

Awalam yara allatheena kafaroo anna alssamawati waalarda kanata ratqan fafataqnahuma wajaAAalna mina almai kulla shayin hayyin afala yuminoona

Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?

Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?

(ஆரம்பத்தில்) வானம் (என்றும்) பூமி (என்றும் தனித்தனியாக) இல்லாமல் இருந்ததை நாமே பிரித்தமைத்து (வானத்திலிருந்து மழையை பொழியச் செய்து அந்த மழை) நீரைக் கொண்டு (உயிருள்ள) ஒவ்வொன்றையும் வாழ்ந்திருக்கச் செய்தோம் என்பதையும் இந்நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் பார்த்தேனும் நம்பிக்கை கொள்ள மாட்டார்களா?

நிச்சயமாக வானங்களும், பூமியும் (முதலில்) இணைந்திருந்தன என்பதையும், இவற்றை நாமே பிரித்(தமைத்)தோம் என்பதையும், உயிருள்ள ஒவ்வொன்றையும் நாம் தண்ணீரிலிருந்து படைத்தோம் என்பதையும் காஃபிர்கள் பார்க்கவில்லையா? (இவற்றைப் பார்த்தும்) அவர்கள் நம்பிக்கை கொள்ள வில்லையா?

(ஆரம்பத்தில்) நிச்சயமாக வானங்களும், பூமியும் (இடைவெளியின்றி) இணைந்திருந்தன, பின்னர், அவ்விரண்டையும் நாமே பிரித்தோம் என்பதையும் உயிருள்ள ஒவ்வொரு பொருளையும் தண்ணீரிலிருந்து உண்டாக்கினோம் என்பதையும் இந்நிராகரிப்போர் அறியவில்லையா? (இதை அறிந்தும்) அவர்கள் விசுவாசங்கொள்ள மாட்டார்களா?

Are the disbelievers not aware that the heavens and earth were joined together and then We split them apart? We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?

WajaAAalna fee alardi rawasiya an tameeda bihim wajaAAalna feeha fijajan subulan laAAallahum yahtadoona

And We have placed on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with them, and We placed therein broad highways for them to pass through, that they may be guided.

And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.

பூமி மனிதர்களுடன் சாய்ந்துவிடாதிருக்கும் பொருட்டு அதில் மலைகளை நாம்தான் நாட்டினோம். அவர்கள் விரும்பிய இடத்திற்குச் செல்லும் பொருட்டு அதில் விசாலமான வழிகளையும் நாம் ஏற்படுத்தினோம்.

இன்னும்: இப்பூமி (மனிதர்களுடன்) ஆடி சாயாமலிருக்கும் பொருட்டு, நாம் அதில் நிலையான மலைகளை அமைத்தோம்; அவர்கள் நேரான வழியில் செல்லும் பொருட்டு, நாம் விசாலமான பாதைகளையும் அமைத்தோம்.

இன்னும், பூமி, (மனிதர்களாகிய) அவர்களைக் கொண்டு அசைத்து விடாதிருப்பதற்காக, அதில் உறுதியான மலைகளை நாம் ஆக்கினோம், அவர்கள் நேரான வழியைப் பெறுவதற்காக அதில் விசாலமான பாதைகளையும் நாம் ஆக்கினோம்.

We have set on the earth firm mountains so it does not shake with them, and We have made therein broad pathways so that they may find their way.

WajaAAalna alssamaa saqfan mahfoothan wahum AAan ayatiha muAAridoona

And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well-guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds).

And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away.

வானத்தைப் பத்திரமான ஒரு முகட்டைப் போலும் நாம் அமைத்தோம். (இவ்வாறெல்லாமிருந்தும்) அவைகளிலுள்ள அத்தாட்சிகளையும் அவர்கள் புறக்கணிக்கின்றனர்.

இன்னும் வானத்தை நாம் பாதுகாப்பான விதானமாக அமைத்தோம் -எனினும் அவர்கள் அவற்றிலுள்ள அத்தாட்சிகளைப் புறக்கணித்து விடுகிறார்கள்.

வானத்தைப் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட முகடாகவும் நாம் ஆக்கினோம், அவர்களோ அவற்றின் அத்தாட்சிகளை விட்டும் புறக்கணிக்கின்றவர்களாக இருக்கின்றனர்.

And We have made the sky a well-protected canopy, yet they turn away from its signs.

Wahuwa allathee khalaqa allayla waalnnahara waalshshamsa waalqamara kullun fee falakin yasbahoona

And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating.

And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.

அவனே இரவையும் பகலையும் (படைத்தான்.) சூரியனையும் சந்திரனையும் படைத்தான். இவை வானத்தில் நீந்திச் செல்(வதைப் போல் செல்)கின்றன.

இன்னும் அவனே இரவையும், பகலையும்; சூரியனையும், சந்திரனையும் படைத்தான்; (வானில் தத்தமக்குரிய) வட்டவரைக்குள் ஒவ்வொன்றும் நீந்துகின்றன.

இன்னும், அவன் எத்தகையவனென்றால் இரவையும், பகலையும் சூரியனையும், சந்திரனையும் படைத்தான், (அவை) ஒவ்வொன்றும் (வானத்தில் தமக்குரிய) மண்டலங்களில் நீந்திச் செல்கின்றன.

It is He Who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon – each floating in its orbit.

Wama jaAAalna libasharin min qablika alkhulda afain mitta fahumu alkhalidoona

And We granted not to any human being immortality before you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]); then if you die, would they live forever?

And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?

(நபியே!) உங்களுக்கு முன்னரும் எந்த மனிதனுக்குமே நாம் மரணமற்ற வாழ்க்கையை ஏற்படுத்தவில்லை. ஆகவே, நீங்கள் இறந்துவிட்ட பின்னர் இவர்கள் என்றென்றும் வாழப் போகிறார்களா?

(நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னர் எந்த மனிதனுக்கும் (அவன்) என்றென்னும் இருக்கக்கூடிய நித்திய வாழ்வை நாம் (இங்கு) கொடுக்கவில்லை; ஆகவே நீர் மரித்தால் அவர்கள் மட்டும் என்றென்றும் வாழப் போகிறார்களா?

மேலும், (நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னர் எம்மனிதருக்கும் (இவ்வுலகில்) நிரந்தர (ஜீவிய)த்தை நாம் ஆக்கவில்லை, ஆகவே, நீர் இறந்துவிட்டால் அவர்கள் (மட்டும் என்றென்றும்) நிரந்தரமாக இருக்கப்போகிறார்களா?

We did not grant immortality to any human being before you [O Prophet]. So if you die, will they live forever?

Kullu nafsin thaiqatu almawti wanablookum bialshsharri waalkhayri fitnatan wailayna turjaAAoona

Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good. And to Us you will be returned.

Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.

ஒவ்வொரு ஆத்மாவும் மரணத்தைச் சுவைத்தே தீரும். நன்மை, தீமை செய்யக்கூடிய நிலைமையில் உங்களை (வைத்து) நாம் சோதிக்கிறோம். பின்னர் நீங்கள் நம்மிடமே கொண்டு வரப்படுவீர்கள்.

ஒவ்வோர் ஆத்மாவும் மரணத்தைச் சுவைப்பதாகவே இருக்கிறது; பரீட்சைக்காக கெடுதியையும், நன்மையையும் கொண்டு நாம் உங்களைச் சோதிக்கிறோம். பின்னர், நம்மிடமே நீங்கள் மீட்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

ஓவ்வோர் ஆத்மாவும் மரணத்தைச் சுவைக்கக்கூடியதாகவே இருக்கிறது, தீமையை (துன்பங்களை)க் கொண்டும், நன்மையை (இன்பங்களை)க் கொண்டும் பரீட்சிப்பதற்காக உங்களை நாம் சோதிக்கிறோம், மேலும் நீங்கள் நம்மிடமே திருப்பப்படுவீர்கள்.

Every soul will taste death; We test you with bad and good as a trial, then to Us you will all be returned.

Waitha raaka allatheena kafaroo in yattakhithoonaka illa huzuwan ahatha allathee yathkuru alihatakum wahum bithikri alrrahmani hum kafiroona

And when those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allâh) see you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]), they take you not except for mockery (saying): "Is this the one who talks (badly) about your gods?" While they disbelieve at the mention of the Most Gracious (Allâh). (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî)

And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who insults your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers.

(நபியே!) நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் உங்களைக் கண்டால் (தங்களுக்குள் ஒருவர் ஒருவரை நோக்கி) "உங்கள் தெய்வங்களைக் குறை கூறுபவர் இவர்தானா?" என்று உங்களை(ச் சுட்டிக் காண்பித்து)ப் பரிகாசம் செய்யாதிருப்பதில்லை. எனினும், அவர்களோ ரஹ்மா(ன் என்று இறைவ)னின் பெயரைக் கூறுவதையும் மறுக்கின்றனர்.

இன்னும் (நபியே!) காஃபிர்கள் உம்மைப் பார்த்தால், “உங்கள் தெய்வங்களைப் பற்றிக் (குறை) கூறுபவர் இவர்தானா?” - என்று (தங்களுக்குள் பேசிக் கொண்டு) உம்மைப் பரிகாசம் செய்யாமல் இருப்பதில்லை; மேலும் அவர்கள் ரஹ்மானுடைய நினைவை நிராகரிக்கின்றனர்.

(நபியே!) நிராகரிப்போர் உம்மைக் கண்டால் உம்மை அவர்கள் பரிகாசமாகவேயன்றி எடுத்துக்கொள்வதில்லை, “உங்கள் தெய்வங்களைக் குறை கூறுபவர் இவரா?” (என்று உம்மைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டி அதிசயமாகக் கூறுகின்றனர்) அவர்களோ, “ரஹ்மான்” என்று (இரட்சகனின் பெயரைக்) கூறுவதையும் மறுப்பவர்களாக இருக்கின்றனர்.

When the disbelievers see you, they only take you in ridicule, [saying], “Is this the one who speaks ill of your gods?” while they reject even the mention of the Most Compassionate.

Khuliqa alinsanu min AAajalin saoreekum ayatee fala tastaAAjiloona

Man is created of haste. I will show you My Ayât (torments, proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So ask Me not to hasten (them).

Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me.

மனிதன் அவசரக்காரனாகவே படைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றான். (ஆகவே, அவர்களை நோக்கி நபியே! நீங்கள் கூறுங்கள்: "வேதனைகளாகிய) என்னுடைய அத்தாட்சிகளை நான் அதிசீக்கிரத்தில் உங்களுக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன். நீங்கள் அவசரப்பட வேண்டாம்."

மனிதன் அவசரக்காரனாகவே படைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றான்; விரைவில் (வேதனைக்கான) என் அத்தாட்சிகளை உங்களுக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன்; ஆகவே நீங்கள் அவசரப்படாதீர்கள்.

மனிதன் அவசரக்காரனாகப் படைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றான், (ஆகவே வேதனை பற்றிய) என்னுடைய அத்தாட்சிகளை நான் உங்களுக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன், (அதற்காக) நீங்கள் என்னிடம் அவசரப்பட வேண்டாம்.

Man is created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not ask Me to hasten them.

Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena

And they say: "When will this promise (come to pass), if you are truthful."

And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

(அந்நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் நம்பிக்கையாளர்களை நோக்கி "வேதனை வரும் என்று) நீங்கள் கூறுவதில் உண்மையானவர்களாக இருந்தால் இந்த மிரட்டல் எப்பொழுது வரும்" என்று அவர்கள் கேட்கிறார்கள்.

“நீங்கள் உண்மையாளர்களாகயிருப்பின், இந்த (வேதனைக்கான) வாக்குறுதி எப்பொழுது (நிறைவேற்றப்படும்)?” என்று அவர்கள் கேட்கிறார்கள்.

மேலும், “(வேதனை வருமென்ற கூற்றில் விசுவாசிகளாகிய) நீங்கள் உண்மையாளர்களாக இருந்தால் இந்த வாக்குறுதி எப்பொழுது (நடந்தேறும்)?” என்று அவர்கள் (நிராகரிப்பவர்கள்) கேட்கிறார்கள்.

They say, “When will this promise come to pass, if you are truthful?”

Law yaAAlamu allatheena kafaroo heena la yakuffoona AAan wujoohihimu alnnara wala AAan thuhoorihim wala hum yunsaroona

If only those who disbelieved knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs, and they will not be helped.

If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...

அவர்கள் தங்கள் முகங்களிலிருந்தும், தங்கள் முதுகுகளில் இருந்தும் நரக நெருப்பைத் தட்டிக்கொள்ள முடியாமலும், அவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்ய ஒருவரும் கிடைக்காமலும் போகக் கூடிய (ஒரு) காலம் வருமென்பதை இந்த நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் அறிந்திருந்தால் (அது இவர்களுக்கே நன்று).

தம் முகங்களையும், தம் முதுகுகளையும் (நரக) நெருப்பைத் தடுத்துக் கொள்ள முடியாமலும், (எவராலும்) உதவி செய்யப்படமாலும் இருப்பார்களே அந்த நேரத்தை காஃபிர்கள் அறிந்து கொள்வார்களானால்! (இறுதி நேரம் பற்றிக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்க மாட்டார்கள்.)

தங்கள் முகங்களையும், தங்கள் முதுகுகளையும் (நரக) நெருப்பிலிருந்து தடுத்துக்கொள்ள முடியாமலும் யாராலும் தங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்யப்படாமலும் இருப்பார்களே, அந்த நேரத்தை நிராகரிப்பவர்களாகிய (இ)வர்கள் அறிந்து கொள்வார்களானால் (அதுபற்றி கேட்கமாட்டார்கள்).

If only the disbelievers knew the moment when they will be unable to ward the Fire off their faces or their backs, nor will they be helped.

Bal tateehim baghtatan fatabhatuhum fala yastateeAAoona raddaha wala hum yuntharoona

Nay, it (the Fire or the Day of Resurrection) will come upon them all of a sudden and will perplex them, and they will have no power to avert it nor will they get respite.

Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.

அது இவர்களிடம் திடுகூறாகவே வந்து அவர்களைத் தட்டுக் கெட்டுத் தடுமாறும்படிச் செய்து விடும்; அதனைத் தட்டிக் கழித்துவிட இவர்களால் முடியாது. இவர்களுக்குச் சிறிதும் அவகாசம் கொடுக்கப்படவும் மாட்டாது.

அவ்வாறல்ல! அது அவர்களிடம் திடீரென வந்து, அவர்களைத் தட்டழியச் செய்து விடும். அதைத் தடுத்துக் கொள்ள அவர்களால் இயலாது; அவர்களுக்குச் சிறிதும் அவகாசம் கொடுக்கப்பட மாட்டாது.

அவ்வாறல்ல! அது இவர்களிடம் திடீரென வந்து அவர்களைத் தட்டுக்கெட்டுத் தடுமாறச் செய்துவிடும், அதனைத் தட்டி(க் கழித்து) விட இவர்கள் சக்திபெற மாட்டார்கள், இவர்கள் (தப்பித்துக்கொள்ள) அவகாசம் கொடுக்கப்படவுமாட்டார்கள்.

Rather, it will come upon them suddenly and stun them; they will not be able to avert it, nor will they be given respite.

Walaqadi istuhzia birusulin min qablika fahaqa biallatheena sakhiroo minhum ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

Indeed (many) Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]), but the scoffers were surrounded by that, whereat they used to mock.

And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

உங்களுக்கு முன்னர் வந்த நம்முடைய தூதர்களும் (இவ்வாறே எதிரிகளால்) பரிகாசம் செய்யப்பட்டனர். ஆகவே, பரிகாசம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த அந்த வேதனை அவர்களை வந்து சூழ்ந்து கொண்டது.

இன்னும், (நபியே!) நிச்சயமாக உமக்கு முன்னர் வந்த தூதர்களும் (இவ்வாறே) பரிகசிக்கப் பட்டார்கள் - ஆனால் அவர்கள் பரிகாசம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த (வேதனையான)து அவர்களை சூழ்ந்து கொண்டது.  

(நபியே!) உமக்கு முன்னர் (வந்த நம்முடைய) தூதர்களும் (இவ்வாறே விரோதிகளால்) பரிகாசம் செய்யப்பட்டனர், ஆகவே, அவர்கள் எதனைப்பற்றிப் பரிகாசம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார்களோ அது அவர்களில் பரிகாசம் செய்து வந்தோரைச் சூழ்ந்து கொண்டது.

Indeed, there were messengers before you who were ridiculed, but those who mocked them were encompassed by what they used to ridicule.

Qul man yaklaokum biallayli waalnnahari mina alrrahmani bal hum AAan thikri rabbihim muAAridoona

Say: "Who can guard and protect you in the night or in the day from the (punishment of the) Most Gracious (Allâh)?" Nay, but they turn away from the remembrance of their Lord.

Say, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away.

(நபியே! இவர்களை நோக்கி) "இரவிலோ பகலிலோ வரக்கூடிய ரஹ்மானுடைய வேதனையிலிந்து உங்களை பாதுகாப்பவர் யார்?" என்று நீங்கள் கேளுங்கள். எனினும் இவர்களோ தங்கள் இறைவனை நினைப்பதையே முற்றிலும் புறக்கணித்து விட்டனர்.

“உங்களை, இரவிலும், பகலிலும் அர்ரஹ்மானுடைய (வேதனையிலிருந்து) பாதுகாக்கக்கூடியவர் எவர்?” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கேளும்; ஆனால், அவர்கள் தங்கள் இறைவனை நினைப்பதையே புறக்கணிப்பவர்கள்.

(நபியே! இவர்களிடம்) இரவிலும், பகலிலும் (வரக்கூடிய) அர்ரஹ்மானின் வேதனையி(லிருந்து உங்களைப் பாதுகாக்கக் கூடியவர் யார்? என்று நீர் கேட்பீராக! ஆனால் இவர்களோ தங்கள் இரட்சகனை நினைப்பதையே முற்றிலும் புறக்கணிக்கக் கூடியவர்களாவர்.

Say, “Who can protect you by night and by day against the Most Compassionate?” Yet they turn away from the admonition of their Lord.

Am lahum alihatun tamnaAAuhum min doonina la yastateeAAoona nasra anfusihim wala hum minna yushaboona

Or have they âlihah (gods) who can guard them from Us? They have no power to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us (i.e. from Our torment).

Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.

இவர்களை (நம்முடைய வேதனையிலிருந்து) தடுக்கக்கூடிய தெய்வங்கள் நம்மையன்றி இருக்கின்றனவா? (இவர்கள் தெய்வமெனக் கூறும்) அவை (இவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்வதென்ன!) தமக்குத்தாமே உதவி செய்துகொள்ளவும் சக்தியற்றவை. ஆகவே, நமக்கெதிராக அவை அவர்களுக்குத் துணைபுரியாது.

அல்லது, (நம்முடைய வேதனையிலிருந்து) நம்மையன்றி அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றும் தெய்வங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு இருக்கின்றனவா? அவர்கள் தமக்குத்தாமே உதவிசெய்ய சக்தியற்றவர்கள். மேலும் அவர்கள் நம்மிடமிருந்து காப்பாற்றப்படுபவர்களும் அல்லர்.

இவர்களை (நம்முடைய வேதனையை) விட்டும் தடுக்கக்கூடிய (வேறு) தெய்வங்கள் நம்மையன்றி அவர்களுக்கு இருக்கின்றனவா? அவர்கள் தமக்குத் தாமே உதவி செய்து கொள்ள சக்தி பெறமாட்டார்கள், இன்னும் அவர்கள் நம்மிடமிருந்து (நம் வேதனையை விட்டும்) காப்பாற்றப்படவுமாட்டார்கள்.

Do they have gods who can defend them against Us? They cannot even help themselves, nor will they be protected from Us.

Bal mattaAAna haolai waabaahum hatta tala AAalayhimu alAAumuru afala yarawna anna natee alarda nanqusuha min atrafiha afahumu alghaliboona

Nay, We gave the luxuries of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them. See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will overcome?

But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders? So it is they who will overcome?

இவர்களையும் இவர்களுடைய மூதாதைகளையும் (நீண்ட காலம் வரை) சுகமனுபவிக்கச் செய்தோம். அதனால் அவர்களின் ஆயுளும் அதிகரித்தது. (அவர்கள் கர்வம்கொண்டு விட்டார்களா?) நிச்சயமாக நாம் இவர்களைச் சூழவும் உள்ள பூமியை(ப் படிப்படியாக)க் குறைத்து (இவர்களை நெருக்கி)க் கொண்டே வருவதை இவர்கள் காணவில்லையா? இவர்களா நம்மை வெல்வார்கள்?

எனினும், இவர்களையும் இவர்களுடைய மூதாதையரையும், அவர்களுடைய ஆயுட்காலம் வளர்ந்தோங்கும் வரை சுகங்களை அனுபவிக்கச் செய்தோம்; நாம் (இவர்களிடமுள்ள) பூமியை அதன் அருகுகளிலிருந்து குறைத்து கொண்டு வருகிறோம் என்பதை இவர்கள் காணவில்லையா? இவர்களா மிகைத்து வெற்றிக் கொள்பவர்கள்?

எனினும், இவர்களையும், இவர்களுடைய மூதாதையரையும் இவர்களின் ஆயுட்காலம் நீண்டதாக ஆகும்வரை சுகமனுபவிக்கச் செய்தோம், நிச்சயமாக நாம் பூமியை அதன் ஓரங்களிலிருந்து குறைத்துக்கொண்டு வருகிறோம் என்பதை இவர்கள் பார்க்கவில்லையா? (அவ்வாறிருக்க) இவர்களா நம்மை மிகைத்து விடுகிறவர்கள்?

Nevertheless, We have provided for them and their forefathers luxuries which they enjoyed for a long time. Do they not see that We gradually reduce the land from its outlying sides? Is it they who will then prevail?

Qul innama onthirukum bialwahyi wala yasmaAAu alssummu aldduAAaa itha ma yuntharoona

Say (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]): "I warn you only by the Revelation (from Allâh and not by the opinion of the religious scholars and others)." But the deaf (who follow the religious scholars and others blindly) will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned [i.e. one should follow only the Qur'ân and the Sunnah (legal ways, orders, acts of worship, and the statements of Prophet Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam], as the Companions of the Prophet did)].

Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.

(நபியே! அவர்களை நோக்கி "வேதனையைக் கொண்டு) நான் உங்களுக்கு அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்வதெல்லாம் வஹ்யின் மூலம் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டவைகளையே! (நான் சுயமாக ஒன்றும் கூறவில்லை)" என்று நீங்கள் கூறுங்கள். (எனினும், இவர்கள் செவிடர்களைப்போல் இருக்கின்றனர். ஆகவே) இந்த செவிடர்களுக்கு நீங்கள் அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்தால் அதனை அவர்கள் (தங்கள் காதால்) கேட்கமாட்டார்கள்.

“நிச்சயமாக நான் உங்களுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை செய்வதெல்லாம் வஹீ மூலம் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டதைக் கொண்டேதான்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறும்; எனினும், செவிடர்கள் அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கப்படும் போது, (அவர்கள் நேர்வழி பெறும்) அந்த அழைப்பைச் செவிமடுக்க மாட்டார்கள்.

(நபியே! அவர்களிடம்) “நான் உங்களுக்கு அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்வதெல்லாம் வஹீயைக் கொண்டுதான்” என்று நீர் கூறுவீராக! இன்னும் அவர்கள் அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்யப்படும்பொழுது, அச்செவிடர்கள் உம் அழைப்பை செவியேற்கமாட்டார்கள்

Say, “I only warn you by divine revelation.” But the deaf cannot hear the call when they are warned.

Walain massathum nafhatun min AAathabi rabbika layaqoolunna ya waylana inna kunna thalimeena

And if a breath (minor calamity) of the torment of your Lord touches them, they will surely cry: "Woe to us! Indeed we have been Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong doers)."

And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."

உங்கள் இறைவனுடைய வேதனையின் வாடை இவர்கள் மீது பட்டாலே போதும் "நாங்கள் கெட்டோம்; நிச்சயமாக நாங்களே எங்களுக்குத் தீங்கு இழைத்துக் கொண்டோம்!" என்று கூச்சல் இடுவார்கள்.

உம்முடைய இறைவனிடமிருந்துள்ள வேதனையிலிருந்து ஒரு மூச்சு அவர்களைத் தீண்டுமானாலும், “எங்களுக்குக் கேடு தான்! திட்டமாக நாங்கள் அநியாயக்காரர்களாகவே இருந்தோம்” என்று அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாக கூ(றிக் கத)றுவார்கள்.

மேலும், உம் இரட்சகனுடைய வேதனையிலிருந்து ஒரு சிறிதளவு அவர்களைத் தொட்டு விடுமானால், “எங்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட கேடே! திட்டமாக நாங்கள் அநியாயக்காரர்களாக இருந்தோம்” என்று நிச்சயமாகக் கூறுவார்கள்.

If a mere breath of your Lord’s torment were to touch them, they would surely say, “Woe to us! We were indeed wrongdoers.”

WanadaAAu almawazeena alqista liyawmi alqiyamati fala tuthlamu nafsun shayan wain kana mithqala habbatin min khardalin atayna biha wakafa bina hasibeena

And We shall set up Balances of justice on the Day of Resurrection, then none will be dealt with unjustly in anything. And if there be the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sufficient are We to take account.

And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

மறுமை நாளில் சரியான தராசையே நாம் நாட்டுவோம். யாதொரு ஆத்மாவுக்கும் (நன்மையைக் குறைத்தோ, தீமையைக் கூட்டியோ) அநியாயம் செய்யப்படமாட்டாது. (நன்மையோ தீமையோ) ஒரு கடுகின் அளவு இருந்தபோதிலும் (நிறுக்க) அதனையும் கொண்டு வருவோம். கணக்கெடுக்க நாமே போதும். (வேறெவரின் உதவியும் நமக்குத் தேவையில்லை.)

இன்னும், கியாம நாளில் மிகத் துல்லியமான தராசுகளையே நாம் வைப்போம். எனவே எந்த ஓர் ஆத்மாவும் ஒரு சிறிதும் அநியாயம் செய்யப்படமாட்டாது; மேலும் (நன்மை, தீமையில்) ஒரு கடுகு அளவு எடையிருப்பினும், அதனையும் நாம் (கணக்கில்) கொண்டு வருவோம். அவ்வாறே கணக்கெடுக்க நாமே போதும்.

மேலும், மறுமை நாளில் நீதமான தராசுகளை நாம் வைப்போம், எந்த ஓர் ஆத்மாவும் (எதையும் குறைத்தோ, கூட்டியோ) சிறிதளவும் அநியாயம் செய்யப்படமாட்டாது, (நன்மையோ, தீமையோ) ஒரு கடுகின் வித்தளவு அது இருந்தபோதிலும், அதனையும் நிறுக்கக்) கொண்டு வருவோம், கணக்கெடுப்பவர்களில் (நமக்கு) நாமே போதும், (கணக்கெடுக்க மற்றவரின் உதவி நமக்குத் தேவையில்லை.)

We will place the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection, and no soul will be wronged in the least. Even if a deed is the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. Sufficient are We as Reckoners.

Walaqad atayna moosa waharoona alfurqana wadiyaan wathikran lilmuttaqeena

And indeed We granted to Mûsâ (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron) the criterion (of right and wrong), and a shining light [i.e. the Taurât (Torah)] and a Reminder for Al-Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2).

And We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder for the righteous

மூஸாவுக்கும் ஹாரூனுக்கும் (நன்மை தீமையைப்) பிரித்தறிவிக்கக் கூடிய வேதத்தையே நாம் கொடுத்திருந்தோம். அது பிரகாசமாகவும், இறை அச்சமுடையவர்களுக்கு நல்லுபதேசமாகவும் இருந்தது.

இன்னும், நாம் மூஸாவுக்கும் ஹாரூனுக்கும் (நன்மை தீமைகளைப்) பிரித்தறிவிக்கும் வேதத்தை நிச்சயமாக நாம் கொடுத்தோம்; (அது) பயபக்தியுடையவர்களுக்கு ஓர் ஒளியாகவும், நினைவூட்டும் நற்போதனையாகவும் இருந்தது.

இன்னும், மூஸாவுக்கும், ஹாரூனுக்கும் (நன்மை தீமையைப்) பிரித்தறிவிக்கக் கூடியதையும் ஒளியையும், பயபக்தியுடையோருக்கு உபதேசத்தையும் நிச்சயமாக நாம் கொடுத்திருந்தோம்.

We certainly gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion, a shining light and admonition for the righteous,

Allatheena yakhshawna rabbahum bialghaybi wahum mina alssaAAati mushfiqoona

Those who fear their Lord without seeing Him, and they are afraid of the Hour.

Who fear their Lord unseen, while they are of the Hour apprehensive.

(இறை அச்சமுடையவர்கள்) தங்கள் இறைவனைத் தங்கள் கண்ணால் பார்க்காவிடினும் அவனுக்குப் பயப்படுவதுடன், மறுமையைப் பற்றியும் அவர்கள் (எந்நேரமும்) பயந்து நடுங்கிக் கொண்டிருப்பார்கள்.

அவர்கள் தங்கள் இறைவனை அந்தரங்கத்திலும் அஞ்சுவார்கள்; இன்னும் அந்த (இறுதி) வேளையைக் குறித்துப் பயந்து கொண்டும் இருப்பார்கள்.

(பயபக்தியுடைய) அவர்கள் எத்தகையோரென்றால், மறைந்த நிலையில் தங்கள் இரட்சகனை பயப்படுவார்கள், இன்னும், அவர்கள் மறுமையைப் பற்றியும் பயந்து (நடுங்கி)க் கொண்டிருப்பவர்கள்.

those who fear their Lord without seeing Him, and are apprehensive of the Hour.

Wahatha thikrun mubarakun anzalnahu afaantum lahu munkiroona

And this is a blessed Reminder (the Qur'ân) which We have sent down; will you then (dare to) deny it?

And this [Qur'an] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted?

இந்தக் குர்ஆன் மிக்க பாக்கியமுடைய நல்லுபதேசமாகும். இதனை நாமே இறக்கி வைத்தோம். இதனை நீங்கள் நிராகரித்து விடுவீர்களா?

இன்னும் இது (குர்ஆன்) நாம் அருள் செய்த பாக்கியம் மிக்க புனிதமான உபதேசமாகும். இதனையா நீங்கள் புறக்கணிக்கிறீர்கள்?  

இன்னும், இந்த குர் ஆனாகிற(து) அதன் நன்மைகள் பன்மடங்காக்கப்பட்ட (நிலையில்) பரக்கத்துச் செய்யப்பட்ட நல்லுபதேசமாகும், இதனை நாம் இறக்கி வைத்தோம், இதனை நீங்கள் மறுக்கக்கூடியவர்களா?

And this [Qur’an] is a blessed reminder which We have sent down. Are you still denying it?

Walaqad atayna ibraheema rushdahu min qablu wakunna bihi AAalimeena

And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrâhîm (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were All-Knower of him (as to his belief in the Oneness of Allâh).

And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing

நிச்சயமாக நாம் இப்றாஹீமுக்கு இதற்கு முன்னரே நல்லறிவைக் கொடுத்திருந்தோம். (அதற்குரிய) அவருடைய தன்மையை நன்கறிந்தோம்.

இன்னும், நாம் முன்னரே இப்ராஹீமுக்கு அவருக்குத் தகுந்த நேர்மையான வழியைத் திடனாக கொடுத்தோம் - அவரைப் பற்றி நாம் அறிந்திருந்தோம்.

நிச்சயமாக இப்றாஹீமுக்கு முன்னரே (சிறு பிராயத்திலிருந்தே) அவருடைய நல்வழியை நாம் கொடுத்திருந்தோம், அவரைப்பற்றி நாம் நன்கறிந்தோராகவும் இருந்தோம்.

Indeed, We had given Abraham sound judgment before, for We know him well.

Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi ma hathihi alttamatheelu allatee antum laha AAakifoona

When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoted?"

When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"

அவர் தன் தந்தையையும், தன் மக்களையும் நோக்கி "நீங்கள் (மிக்க உற்சாகத்தோடு) வணங்கிவரும் இச்சிலைகள் என்ன? (எதற்காக நீங்கள் இவைகளைப் வணங்குகிறீர்கள்)" என்று கேட்டதற்கு,

அவர் தம் தந்தையிடமும், தம் சமூகத்தாரிடமும் “நீங்கள் வழிபடும் இந்த உருவங்கள் என்ன?” என்று கேட்ட போது:

அவர் தன் தந்தையிடமும், தன் சமூகத்தாரிடமும், “இச்சிலைகளென்ன? அவை எத்தகையவையென்றால் நீங்கள் அவற்றிற்காக (வழிபடுவதில்) நிலைத்திருக்கிறீர்கள்” என்று கேட்டபோது,

When he said to his father and his people, “What are these statues to which you are so devoted?”

Qaloo wajadna abaana laha AAabideena

They said: "We found our fathers worshipping them."

They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."

அவர்கள் "எங்கள் மூதாதைகள் இவைகளை வணங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்க நாங்கள் கண்டோம். (ஆதலால் நாங்களும் அவைகளைப் வணங்குகிறோம்)" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

அவர்கள், “எங்கள் மூதாதையவர்கள் இவற்றை வணங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்ததை நாங்கள் கண்டோம் என்று கூறினார்கள்.

அவர்கள், “எங்கள் மூதாதையர்கள் இவைகளை வணங்கக்கூடியவர்களாக (இருந்ததை) நாங்கள் கண்டோம்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “We found our forefathers worshiping them.”

Qala laqad kuntum antum waabaokum fee dalalin mubeenin

He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error."

He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error."

அதற்கவர் "நீங்களும் உங்கள் மூதாதைகளும் பகிரங்கமான வழிகேட்டில்தான் இருக்கின்றீர்கள்" என்று கூறினார்.

(அதற்கு) அவர், “நிச்சயமாக நீங்களும், உங்களுடைய மூதாதையரும் - பகிரங்கமான வழி கேட்டில் தான் இருந்து வருகிறீர்கள்” என்று கூறினார்.

அ(தற்க)வர், “திட்டமாக நீங்களும், உங்கள் மூதாதையரும் பகிரங்கமான வழிகேட்டில்(தான்) இருந்துவிட்டீர்கள்” என்று கூறினார்.

He said, “Indeed, you and your forefathers were clearly misguided.”

Qaloo ajitana bialhaqqi am anta mina allaAAibeena

They said: "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who play about?"

They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?"

அதற்கவர்கள் "நீங்கள் ஏதும் உண்மையான செய்தியை நம்மிடம் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கின்றீரா? அல்லது (இவ்வாறு கூறி நம்முடன்) நீங்கள் விளையாடுகிறீரா?" என்று கேட்டனர்.

(அதற்கு) அவர்கள் “நீர் எங்களிடம் உண்மையைக் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறீரா? அல்லது விளையாடுபவர்களில் ஒருவராக இருக்கின்றீரா?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

அ(தற்க)வர்கள், “நீர் எங்களிடம் ஏதும் உண்மை(யான செய்தி)யைக் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கின்றீரா? அல்லது விளையாடுபவர்களில் நீர் இருக்கின்றீரா? என்று கேட்டனர்.

They said, “Have you come to us with the truth, or are you joking?”

Qala bal rabbukum rabbu alssamawati waalardi allathee fatarahunna waana AAala thalikum mina alshshahideena

He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and to that I am one of the witnesses.

He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify.

அதற்கவர் "(நான் விளையாடுபவன்) இல்லை. உங்கள் (உண்மையான) இறைவன் வானங்களையும், பூமியையும் படைத்து வளர்ப்பவன்தான். (இந்த சிலைகளன்று.) இதற்கு நானே உங்களுக்குச் சாட்சி கூறுகிறேன்" என்று கூறினார்.

“அப்படியல்ல. உங்களுடைய இறைவன் வானங்களுக்கும் பூமிக்கும் இறைவனாவான். அவனே அவற்றைப் படைத்தவன்; இதற்குச் சாட்சியம் கூறுபவர்களில் நானும் ஒருவனாக இருக்கின்றேன்” என்று (இப்ராஹீம்) கூறினார்.

அ(தற்க)வர், (அவ்வாறு) “அல்ல! உங்களுடைய இரட்சகன் (அவன்தான்) வானங்களுக்கும், பூமிக்கும் இரட்சகனாவான், அவனே அவற்றைப் படைத்தான், இதற்கு சாட்சியம் கூறுபவர்களில் நானும் ஒருவனாக இருக்கிறேன்” என்று (இப்றாஹீம்) கூறினார்.

He said, “Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and earth, Who created them, and I am one of those who bear witness to it.

WataAllahi laakeedanna asnamakum baAAda an tuwalloo mudbireena

"And by Allâh, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs."

And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."

(அன்றி, இங்கிருந்து) "நீங்கள் திரும்பிச் சென்ற பின்னர் அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது சத்தியமாக! உங்கள் சிலைகளைப் பங்கப்படுத்தி விடுவேன்" (என்றும் கூறினார்.)

“இன்னும்: நீங்கள் திரும்பிச் சென்ற பின்னர், அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது சத்தியமாக உங்கள் சிலைகளுக்கு ஒரு சதி செய்வேன்!” (என்றும் கூறினார்.)

“இன்னும், அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது சத்தியமாக! நீங்கள் (இங்கிருந்து) புறங்காட்டியவர்களாகத் திரும்பிச் சென்ற பின், உங்கள் சிலைகளுக்குத் திண்ணமாக நான் சதி செய்வேன்” (என்றும் கூறினார்.)

By Allah, I will surely plot against your idols after you have turned and gone away.”

FajaAAalahum juthathan illa kabeeran lahum laAAallahum ilayhi yarjiAAoona

So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it.

So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].

(அவ்வாறே அவர்கள் சென்ற பின்னர்) அவற்றில் பெரிய சிலையைத் தவிர (மற்ற) அனைத்தையும் துண்டு துண்டாக உடைத்துத் தள்ளிவிட்டார். அவர்கள் (திரும்ப வந்த பின்னர் இதைப் பற்றி விசாரிப்பதற்காகப்) பெரிய சிலையிடம் செல்லக்கூடும் (என்று அதனை மட்டும் உடைக்கவில்லை).

அவ்வாறே அவர், அவற்றில் பெரியதைத் தவிர (மற்ற) எல்லாவற்றையும் துண்டு துண்டாக்கினார்; அவர்கள் அதன்பால் திரும்புவதற்காக (அதை விட்டு விட்டார்).

(அவர்கள் அங்கிருந்து சென்ற பின்னர்) அவற்றில் பெரியதைத் தவிர (மற்ற) யாவற்றையும் துண்டு துண்டாக ஆக்கி (உடைத்துத் தள்ளி) விட்டார், (பெரிய சிலையாகிய) அதன்பால் (விளக்கம் கேட்டு) அவர்கள் திரும்புவதற்காக (அதனை மட்டும் உடைக்கவில்லை).

So he broke them into pieces, except the biggest of them, so that they might come back to it.

Qaloo man faAAala hatha bialihatina innahu lamina alththalimeena

They said: "Who has done this to our âlihah (gods)? He must indeed be one of the Zâlimun (wrongdoers)."

They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers."

அவர்கள் (திரும்ப வந்து இக்காட்சியைக் கண்டதும்) "எங்கள் தெய்வங்களை இவ்வாறு செய்தவன் எவன்? நிச்சயமாக அவன் மகா அநியாயக்காரன்" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

“எங்கள் தெய்வங்களுக்கு இவ்வாறு (தீங்கு) செய்தது யார்? நிச்சயமாக அவன் அக்கிரமக்காரர்களில் ஒருவனாக இருப்பான்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

(திரும்ப வந்து, இவற்றைக் கண்ட) அவர்கள். “எங்கள் (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) தெய்வங்களை இவ்வாறு செய்தவன் யார்? நிச்சயமாக அவன் அநியாயக்காரர்களில் உள்ளவன்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “Who has done this to our gods? He is indeed one of the wrongdoers.”

Qaloo samiAAna fatan yathkuruhum yuqalu lahu ibraheemu

They said: "We heard a young man talking against them, who is called Ibrâhîm (Abraham)."

They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham."

அதற்கு (அவர்களில் சிலர்) "ஒரு வாலிபர் இவைகளைப் பற்றி(க் குறை) கூறிக் கொண்டிருப்பதை நாங்கள் செவியுற்று இருக்கின்றோம். அவருக்கு "இப்றாஹீம்" என்று பெயர் கூறப்படுகின்றது" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

அதற்கு (அவர்களில் சிலர்) “இளைஞர் ஒருவர் இவற்றைப் பற்றி (அவதூறாகக்) குறிப்பிட்டு வந்ததை நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம், அவருக்கு இப்றாஹீம் என்று பெயர் சொல்லப்படுகிறது” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

அ(தற்க)வர்களில் சிலர் “ஒரு இளைஞர் இவைகளைப் பற்றிக் (குறை) கூறிக் கொண்டிருந்ததை நாங்கள் செவியுற்றிருக்கிறோம், அவருக்கு இப்றாஹீம் என்று (பெயர்) கூறப்படுகிறது” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “We heard a young man, speaking ill of them, who is called Abraham.”

Qaloo fatoo bihi AAala aAAyuni alnnasi laAAallahum yashhadoona

They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify."

They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify."

அதற்கவர்கள் "(அவ்வாறாயின்) அவரை மக்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன் கொண்டு வாருங்கள். (அவர் கூறும் பதிலுக்கு) அனைவரும் சாட்சியாக இருக்கட்டும்" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

“அப்படியானால் அவரை மக்கள் கண் முன்னே கொண்டு வாருங்கள்; அவர்கள் சாட்சியம் கூறும் பொருட்டு” என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

அ(தற்க)வர்கள், “அவ்வாறாயின், அவரை மக்களின் கண்களுக்கெதிரில் கொண்டு வாருங்கள் (அவரை யாவரும் பார்த்து) அவர்கள் சாட்சியம் கூறலாம்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “Bring him then before the eyes of the people, so that they may witness [his trial].”

Qaloo aanta faAAalta hatha bialihatina ya ibraheemu

They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrâhîm (Abraham)?"

They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"

(அவ்வாறு இப்றாஹீமை கொண்டு வந்து அவரை நோக்கி) "இப்றாஹீமே! எங்களுடைய தெய்வங்களை இவ்வாறு செய்தவர் நீங்கள்தானோ?" என்று கேட்டனர்.

“இப்றாஹீமே! எங்கள் தெய்வங்களை இவ்வாறு செய்தவர் நீர் தாமோ?” என்று (அவர் வந்ததும்) கேட்டனர்.

(அவ்வாறு கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட அவரிடம்,) “இப்றாஹீமே! எங்களுடைய (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) தெய்வங்களை இவ்வாறு செய்தவர் நீர் தானா?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

They said, “Are you the one who did this to our gods, O Abraham?”

Qala bal faAAalahu kabeeruhum hatha faisaloohum in kanoo yantiqoona

[Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!"

He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."

அதற்கவர் "இல்லை. இவற்றில் பெரிய சிலை இதோ இருக்கிறதே! இதுதான் செய்திருக்கலாம்! (உடைப்பட்ட) இவை பேசக் கூடியவையாக இருந்தால் அவைகளையே கேளுங்கள்" என்றார்.

அதற்கு அவர் “அப்படியல்ல! இவற்றில் பெரிய சிலை இதோ இருக்கிறதே, இது தான் செய்திருக்கும்; எனவே, இவை பேசக்கூடியவையாக இருப்பின், இவற்றையே நீங்கள் கேளுங்கள்” என்று கூறினார்.

அ(தற்க)வர், “அவ்வாறல்ல! அதை அவர்களில் பெரியது தான் செய்தது, (உடைக்கப்பட்ட) அவர்கள் பேசக்கூடியவர்களாக இருந்தால் அவர்களையே கேளுங்கள்! என்று கூறினார்.

He said, “Rather, it was this biggest one who did it. So ask them, if they can speak!”

FarajaAAoo ila anfusihim faqaloo innakum antumu alththalimoona

So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong doers)."

So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."

அவர்கள் (இதற்குப் பதில் கூறமுடியாமல் நாணமுற்றுத்) தங்களுக்குள் (ஒருவர் மற்றவரை நோக்கி) "நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள்தான் (இவற்றைத் தெய்வமெனக் கூறி) அநியாயம் செய்து விட்டீர்கள்" என்று கூறிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

(இதற்கு பதில் கூறத் தெரியாத) அவர்கள் தங்களுக்குள் திரும்பி, (ஒருவருக்கொருவர்) “நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் தாம் (இவற்றை தெய்வங்களாக நம்பி) அநியாயம் செய்து விட்டீர்கள்” என்று பேசிக் கொண்டார்கள்.

அவர்கள் (நாணமுற்று) தங்கள் பக்கமே திரும்பி (ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம்,) “நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் தான் (இவற்றை வணங்கி) அக்கிரமம் செய்து விட்டீர்கள்” என்று கூறிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

So they turned back to one another, and said, “Indeed, it is you who are the wrongdoers.”

Thumma nukisoo AAala ruoosihim laqad AAalimta ma haolai yantiqoona

Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!"

Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"

பின்னர், அவர்கள் (வெட்கத்தால் சிறிது நேரம்) தலை குனிந்திருந்து (இப்றாஹீமை நோக்கி) "இவை பேசாது என்பதை நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அறிவீரே! (அவ்வாறிருக்க இவற்றைக் கேட்கும்படி எங்களிடம் எவ்வாறு கூறுகிறீர்?)" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

பிறகு அவர்கள் (அவமானத்துடன்) தங்கள் தலைகளைத் தொங்கப் போட்டுக் கொள்ளுமாறு செய்யப்பட்டார்கள்; “இவை பேச மாட்டா என்பதைத் தான் நீர் நிச்சயமாக அறிவீரே!” (என்று கூறினர்).

பின்னர், (வெட்கத்தால்) அவர்கள் தலைகுனியச் செய்யப்பட்டார்கள், (சற்று நேரத்திற்குப் பிறகு இப்றாஹீமிடம்,) “இவைகள் பேசமாட்டா, என்பதை நிச்சயமாக நீர் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

Then they turned to their obstinacy, [saying], “You already know that they cannot speak.”

Qala afataAAbudoona min dooni Allahi ma la yanfaAAukum shayan wala yadurrukum

[Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allâh, things that can neither profit you nor harm you?

He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?

அதற்கவர் "உங்களுக்கு யாதொரு நன்மையும் தீமையும் செய்ய சக்தியற்ற அல்லாஹ் அல்லாத (இ)வைகளையா நீங்கள் வணங்குகிறீர்கள்.

“(அப்படியாயின்) அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி உங்களுக்கு எந்த நன்மையும் செய்யாத உங்களுக்கு தீங்கும் அளிக்காதவற்றையா வணங்குகிறீர்கள்” என்று கேட்டார்.

“கொஞ்சமும் உங்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்யாத, உங்களுக்குத் தீமையும் செய்யாத, அல்லாஹ் அல்லாதவற்றையா நீங்கள் வணங்குகிறீர்கள்?” என்று (இப்றாஹீமாகிய) அவர் கேட்டார்.

Abraham said, “Do you then worship besides Allah that which can neither benefit nor harm you in the least?

Offin lakum walima taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi afala taAAqiloona

"Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allâh! Have you then no sense?"

Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?"

சீச்சி! (கேவலம் நீங்களென்ன) உங்களுக்கும் கேடுதான்; நீங்கள் வணங்கும் அல்லாஹ் அல்லாத இவைக(ளென்ன இவை)களுக்கும் கேடுதான். என்னே! இவ்வளவு கூட நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டாமா?" என்று கூறினார்.

“சீச்சீ! உங்களுக்கும், நீங்கள் வணங்கும் அல்லாஹ் அல்லாதவற்றுக்கும் கேடு தான்; நீங்கள் இதனை அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லையா?” (என்று இப்ராஹீம் கூறினார்).

“சீச்சீ! உங்களுக்கும், நீங்கள் வணங்கும் அல்லாஹ் அல்லாத இவைகளுக்கும் (நாசம்தான்,) நீங்கள் விளங்கிக் கொள்ள மாட்டீர்களா?” என்று கூறினார்.

Fie upon you and upon all that you worship besides Allah! Do you not have any sense?”

Qaloo harriqoohu waonsuroo alihatakum in kuntum faAAileena

They said: "Burn him and help your âlihah (gods), if you will be doing."

They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."

அதற்கவர்கள் (தங்கள் மனிதர்களை நோக்கி,) "நீங்கள் ஏதும் செய்ய வேண்டுமென்றிருந்தால் இவரை நெருப்பில் எரித்து உங்கள் தெய்வங்களுக்காக இவரிடம் பழி வாங்குங்கள்" என்று கூறினார்கள்.

(இதற்கு) அவர்கள் நீங்கள் (இவரை ஏதாவது செய்ய நாடினால் இவரை (நெருப்பிலிட்டு) எரியுங்கள்; (இவ்வாறு செய்து) உங்கள் தெய்வங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்யுங்கள்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

அ(தற்க)வர்கள், “நீங்கள் ஏதும் செய்பவர்களாக இருந்தால், இவரை (நெருப்பிலிட்டு) எரியுங்கள், (அதன்மூலம்) உங்கள் (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) தெய்வங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்யுங்கள் என்று (தங்களைச் சார்ந்தோரிடம்) கூறினார்கள்.

They said, “Burn him and avenge your gods, if you must do something.”

Qulna ya naru koonee bardan wasalaman AAala ibraheema

We (Allâh) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrâhîm (Abraham)!"

Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."

(அவ்வாறே அவர்கள் இப்றாஹீமை நெருப்புக் கிடங்கில் எறியவே நெருப்பை நோக்கி) "நெருப்பே! நீ இப்றாஹீமுக்கு சுகம் தரும் விதத்தில் குளிர்ந்து விடு!" என்று நாம் கூறினோம்.

(இப்ராஹீம் தீக்கிடங்கில் எறியப்பட்டவுடன்) “நெருப்பே! இப்ராஹீம் மீது நீ குளிர்ச்சியாகவும், சுகமளிக்கக் கூடியதாகவும், ஆகிவிடு!” என்று நாம் கூறினோம்.

(அவர்கள், இப்றாஹீமை நெருப்புக் கிடங்கில் எறியவே,) “நெருப்பே! இப்றாஹீமுக்குக் குளிர்ச்சியாகவும், சுகமளிக்கக்கூடியதாகவும் ஆகிவிடு” என்று நாம் கூறினோம்.

We said, “O fire, be cool and safe for Abraham.”

Waaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu alakhsareena

And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers.

And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers.

அவர்கள் இப்றாஹீமுக்கு தீங்கிழைக்கக் கருதினார்கள். எனினும், நாம் அவர்களையே நஷ்டமடையும்படிச் செய்து விட்டோம்.

மேலும், அவர்கள் அவருக்குச் சதி செய்ய நாடினார்கள், ஆனால் நாம் அவர்களையே நஷ்டவாளிகளாய் ஆக்கினோம்!

மேலும், அவர்கள், அவருக்குச் சதி செய்ய நாடினார்கள், நாம் அவர்களையே நஷ்டமடைந்தவர்களாகச் செய்து விட்டோம்.

They plotted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers.

Wanajjaynahu walootan ila alardi allatee barakna feeha lilAAalameena

And We rescued him and Lût (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'آlamîn (mankind and jinn).

And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds.

அவரையும் (அவருடைய சகோதரர் மகன்) லூத்தையும் நாம் பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டு, மனிதர்கள் பெரும் பாக்கியம் அடையக் கூடியதாக நாம் செய்திருக்கும் (பைத்துல் முகத்தஸ் என்னும்) ஊரளவில் கொண்டு வந்து சேர்த்தோம்.

இன்னும், நாம் அவரையும் (அவருடைய சகோதரர் மகன்) லூத்தையும் அகிலத்தாருக்கெல்லாம் பரக்கத்தான - பாக்கியமுள்ள - பூமியாக நாம் ஆக்கியுள்ள (பைத்துல் முகத்தஸில்) ஈடேற்றம் பெறச் செய்தோம்.

நாம், அவரையும், லூத்தையும் அகிலத்தார்க்கு நாம் பாக்கியத்தை நல்கிய பூமியின் (பைத்துல் முகத்தஸின்) பால் (வரச்செய்து) ஈடேற்றம் பெறச் செய்தோம்.

And We saved him and Lot [and brought him] to the land [of Levant] that we have blessed for all people.

Wawahabna lahu ishaqa wayaAAqooba nafilatan wakullan jaAAalna saliheena

And We bestowed upon him Ishâq (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qûb (Jacob). Each one We made righteous.

And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.

அன்றி, நாம் அவருக்கு (அவருடைய) கோரிக்கைக்கு அதிகமாக இஸ்ஹாக்கையும், யஅகூபையும் அருள் புரிந்தோம். இவர்கள் அனைவரையும் நல்லடியார்களாகவும் நாம் ஆக்கினோம்.

இன்னும் நாம் அவருக்கு இஸ்ஹாக்கையும், மேலதிகமாக யஃகூபையும் அளித்தோம்; இவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் (ஸாலிஹான) நல்லடியார்களாக்கினோம்.

அன்றியும், நாம் அவருக்கு இஸ்ஹாக்கையும், கூடுதலாக யஃகூபையும் அன்பளிப்புச் செய்தோம். (இவர்களில்) ஒவ்வொருவரையும் நல்லோர்களாகவும் நாம் ஆக்கினோம்.

And We gave him Isaac, and then Jacob, a grandson, and We made all of them righteous.

WajaAAalnahum aimmatan yahdoona biamrina waawhayna ilayhim fiAAla alkhayrati waiqama alssalati waeetaa alzzakati wakanoo lana AAabideena

And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, performing As-Salât (the prayers — Iqâmat-as-Salât), and the giving of Zakât (obligatory charity), and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers.

And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us.

அன்றி, நம் கட்டளைகளை (மக்களுக்கு) ஏவி நேரான வழியை அறிவிக்கக்கூடிய தலைவர்களாகவும் அவர்களை ஆக்கினோம். அன்றி, நன்மையான காரியங்களைச் செய்யும்படியும், தொழுகையைக் கடைப்பிடித் தொழுகும்படியும், "ஜகாத்" கொடுத்து வரும்படியாகவும் அவர்களுக்கு வஹ்யி மூலம் அறிவித்தோம். அவர்கள் அனைவரும் நம்மையே வணங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

இன்னும் நம் கட்டளையைக் கொண்டு (மக்களுக்கு) நேர்வழி காட்டும் இமாம்களாக - தலைவர்களாக - நாம் அவர்களை ஆக்கினோம்; மேலும், நன்மையுடைய செயல்களை புரியுமாறும், தொழுகையைக் கடைப்பிடிக்குமாறும், ஜகாத்தை கொடுத்து வருமாறும், நாம் அவர்களுக்கு வஹீ மூலம் அறிவித்தோம் - அவர்கள் நம்மையே வணங்குபவர்களாக இருந்தனர்.

இன்னும், நம்முடைய கட்டளையின்படி நேர் வழி காட்டுகின்ற தலைவர்களாவும் அவர்களை நாம் ஆக்கினோம், அன்றியும், நன்மையான காரியங்களைச் செய்யுமாறும், தொழுகையை நிறைவேற்றுமாறும், ஜகாத்தைக் கொடுத்து வருமாறும் இவர்களுக்கு (வஹீ மூலம்) நாம் அறிவித்தோம், இவர்கள் அனைவரும் நம்மையே வணங்குபவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்.

And We made them leaders, guiding people by Our command, and We inspired them to do righteous deeds, establish prayer and give zakah; and they were Our true worshipers.

Walootan ataynahu hukman waAAilman wanajjaynahu mina alqaryati allatee kanat taAAmalu alkhabaitha innahum kanoo qawma sawin fasiqeena

And (remember) Lût (Lot), We gave him Hukm (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khabâ'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.

லூத்தையும் (நபியாக்கி) அவருக்கு ஞானத்தையும் கல்வியையும் கொடுத்துத் தீய காரியங்களைச் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த ஊர் மக்களிலிருந்தும் நாம் அவரை பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டோம். நிச்சயமாக அவ்வூரார் (மனிதர்களில்) மிகக்கெட்ட மனிதர்களாகவும் பெரும் பாவிகளாகவும் இருந்தனர்.

இன்னும், லூத்தையும் (நபியாக்கி) - நாம் அவருக்கு ஞானத்தையும், கல்வியையும் கொடுத்தோம்; அறுவறுப்பான செயல்களைச் செய்து கொண்டிருந்(தவர்களின்) ஊரை விட்டும் அவரை நாம் காப்பாற்றினோம்; நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் மிகவும் கெட்ட சமூகத்தினராகவும், பெரும் பாவிகளாகவும் இருந்தனர்.

லூத்தையும் (நபியாக்கி) – அவருக்கு நபித்துவத்ததையும், கல்வியையும் கொடுத்து, அருவருக்கத்தக்க செயல்களைச் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த ஊரிலிருந்தும் நாம் அவரை காப்பாற்றிக் கொண்டோம், நிச்சயமாக, அவர்கள் (மனிதர்களில்) மிகக் கெட்ட சமூகத்தினராக பெரும்பாவிகளாக இருந்தனர்.

To Lot We gave sound judgment and knowledge, and We saved him from the town that was engrossed in shameful practices. They were Indeed an evil and rebellious people.

Waadkhalnahu fee rahmatina innahu mina alssaliheena

And We admitted him to Our Mercy; truly, he was of the righteous.

And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.

நாம் அவரை நம்முடைய அருளில் புகுத்தினோம். நிச்சயமாக அவர் நல்லடியார்களில் உள்ளவராகவே இருந்தார்.

இன்னும், அவரை நம்முடைய கிருபையில் நாம் புகுத்திக் கொண்டோம்; நிச்சயமாக அவர் (ஸாலிஹான) நல்லடியார்களில் உள்ளவராகவே இருந்தார்.

நூம் (லூத் ஆகிய) அவரை நம்முடைய அருளில் புகுத்திக் கொண்டோம், நிச்சயமாக அவர் நல்லோர்களில் உள்ளவராவார்.

And We admitted him to Our mercy, for he was one of the righteous.

Wanoohan ith nada min qablu faistajabna lahu fanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi

And (remember) Nûh (Noah), when he cried (to Us) aforetime. We answered to his invocation and saved him and his family from the great distress.

And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allah] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood.

நூஹையும் (நபியாக அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.) அவர் இதற்கு முன்னர் செய்துகொண்டிருந்த பிரார்த்தனையை அவருக்காக நாம் அங்கீகரித்துக் கொண்டு, அவரையும் அவரது குடும்பத்தினரையும் பெரும் கஷ்டத்திலிருந்து பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டோம்.

இன்னும், நூஹ் - அவர் முன்னே பிரார்த்தித்தபோது, அவருக்கு (அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை ஏற்று)) பதில் கூறினோம்; அவரையும், அவருடைய குடும்பத்தாரையும் மிகப் பெரிய துன்பத்திலிருந்தும் நாம் ஈடேற்றினோம்.

நூஹையும் (நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) முன்னர் அவர் (பிரார்த்தனை செய்து) அழைத்தபோது, அவருக்கு (அவரது பிரார்த்தனையை ஏற்று) நாம் பதில் கூறினோம், (அதன் பொருட்டு) அவரையும், அவரது குடும்பத்தினரையும் பெரும் கஷ்டத்திலிருந்து நாம் காப்பாற்றினோம்.

And [remember] Noah, when he called out to Us before, so We responded to him and saved him and his household from the great distress.

Wanasarnahu mina alqawmi allatheena kaththaboo biayatina innahum kanoo qawma sawin faaghraqnahum ajmaAAeena

We helped him against the people who denied Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil. So We drowned them all.

And We saved him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.

நம்முடைய வசனங்களைப் பொய்யாக்கிய மக்களுக்கு விரோதமாக அவருக்கு நாம் உதவி செய்தோம். நிச்சயமாக அவர்களும் மிகக் கெட்ட மக்களாகவே இருந்தனர். ஆதலால், அவர்கள் அனைவரையும் (வெள்ளப் பிரளயத்தில்) மூழ்கடித்து விட்டோம்.

இன்னும் நம்முடைய அத்தாட்சிகளைப் பொய்ப்பிக்க முற்பட்டார்களே அந்த சமூகத்தாரிடமிருந்து அவருக்கு உதவி செய்தோம். நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் மிகக் கெட்ட சமூகத்தாராகவே இருந்தனர் - ஆதலால் அவர்கள் அனைவரையும் நாம் மூழ்கடித்தோம்.

நம்முடைய வசனங்களைப் பொய்யாக்கிய சமூகத்தாரிலிருந்து (அவர்களின் தீமையைத் தடுத்து) அவருக்கு நாம் உதவியும் செய்தோம், நிச்சயமாக அவர்களும் மிகக் கெட்ட சமூகத்தவராகவே இருந்தனர், ஆதலால் அவர்கள் யாவரையும் (பெரு வெள்ளத்தில்) மூழ்கடித்துவிட்டோம்.

And We helped him against the people who rejected Our signs. They were indeed an evil people, so We drowned them all.

Wadawooda wasulaymana ith yahkumani fee alharthi ith nafashat feehi ghanamu alqawmi wakunna lihukmihim shahideena

And (remember) Dâwûd (David) and Sulaimân (Solomon), when they gave judgement in the case of the field in which the sheep of certain people had pastured at night; and We were witness to their judgement.

And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night], and We were witness to their judgement.

தாவூதையும் ஸுலைமானையும் (நபியாக அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.) ஒருவருடைய ஆடுகள் மற்றொருவரின் பயிரை மேய்ந்துவிட்டது பற்றி (தாவூத், சுலைமான் ஆகிய) இருவரும் தீர்ப்புக் கூற இருந்த சமயத்தில் அவர்களுடைய தீர்ப்பை நாம் (கவனித்துப்) பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம்.

இன்னும் தாவூதும், ஸுலைமானும் (பற்றி நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) வேளாண்மை நிலத்தில் அவர்களுடைய சமூகத்தாரின் ஆடுகள் இரவில் இறங்கி மேய்ந்த போது, அதைப் பற்றி அவ்விருவரும் தீர்ப்புச் செய்த போது, அவர்களுடைய தீர்ப்பை நாம் கவனித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம்.

வேளாண்மை நிலத்தில் ஒரு சமூகத்தாரின் ஆடுகள் இரவில் இறங்கி மேய்ந்து விட்டபோது, அவ்வேளாண்மை விஷயத்தில் தாவூது, சுலைமான் (ஆகிய இருவரும்) தீர்ப்பளித்த சந்தர்ப்பத்தை (நபியே! நினைவு கூர்வீராக! அப்போது) அவர்களுடைய தீர்ப்பை பார்ப்பவர்களாக நாம் இருந்தோம்.

And [remember] David and Solomon, when they passed judgment about the tillage into which some people’s sheep had strayed at night, and We were witnesses to their judgment.

Fafahhamnaha sulaymana wakullan atayna hukman waAAilman wasakhkharna maAAa dawooda aljibala yusabbihna waalttayra wakunna faAAileena

And We made Sulaimân (Solomon) to understand (the case); and to each of them We gave Hukm (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains and the birds to glorify Our Praises along with Dâwûd (David). And it was We Who were the doer (of all these things).

And We gave understanding of the case to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].

தீர்ப்புக் கூறுவதில் இவர்கள் இருவருக்குமே கல்வியையும் ஞானத்தையும் நாம் கொடுத்திருந்த போதிலும், ஸுலைமானுக்கு நியாயத்தை விளக்கிக் காண்பித்தோம். மலைகளையும் பறவைகளையும் தாவூதுக்கு வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்தோம். அவை அவருடன் அல்லாஹ்வை தஸ்பீஹ் (துதி) செய்தன. நாமேதான் இவைகளை எல்லாம் செய்தோம்.

அப்போது, நாம் ஸுலைமானுக்கு அதை (தீர்ப்பின் நியாயத்தை) விளங்க வைத்தோம்; மேலும், அவ்விருவருக்கும் ஞானத்தையும் (நற்)கல்வியையும் கொடுத்தோம்; இன்னும் நாம் தாவூதுக்கு மலைகளையும் பறவைகளையும் வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்தோம்; அவை (தாவூதுடன்) தஸ்பீஹு செய்து கொண்டிருந்தன - இவற்றை யெல்லாம் நாமே செய்தோம்.

தீர்ப்புக் கூறுவதில் நாம் ஸூலைமானுக்கு அ(தன் நியாயத்)தை விளங்க வைத்தோம், (அவ்விருவரில்) ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் (தீர்ப்புக் கூறும்) அறிவையும், ஞானத்தையும் நாம் கொடுத்திருந்தோம், மலைகளையும், பட்சிகளையும் தாவூதுடன் (தஸ்பீஹ் செய்ய) வசப்படுத்தியும் கொடுத்தோம், அவை (அவருடன் அல்லாஹ்வை) துதி செய்தன, நாம்தாம் (இவற்றையெல்லாம்) செய்வோராய் இருந்தோம்.

We made Solomon understand it, although We gave each of them sound judgment and knowledge. We subjected the mountains and birds to glorify Allah along with David. It was We Who did all this.

WaAAallamnahu sanAAata laboosin lakum lituhsinakum min basikum fahal antum shakiroona

And We taught him the making of metal coats of mail (for battles), to protect you in your fighting. Are you then grateful?

And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?

(போரில் ஈட்டி, கத்தி ஆகியவைகளின்) காயத்தில் இருந்து உங்களை பாதுகாக்கக் கூடிய கவசங்கள் செய்வதை நாம் அவருக்குக் கற்றுக் கொடுத்தோம். இதற்கு நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்துவீர்களா?

இன்னும் நீங்கள் போரிடும் போது உங்களைப் பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்வதற்கான கவசங்கள் செய்வதை, அவருக்கு நாம் கற்றுக் கொடுத்தோம் - எனவே (இவற்றுக்கெல்லாம்) நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்துகிறவர்களாக இருக்கிறீர்களா?

இன்னும், (நீங்கள் எதிரிகளுடன் போரிடும்போது,) உங்களுடைய யுத்தத்தில் உங்களை தற்காத்துக் கொள்வதற்காக அணிந்துகொள்ளும் கவசங்கள் செய்வதை உங்களுக்காக நாம் அவருக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடுத்தோம், இதற்காக நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்துபவர்களாக இருக்கிறீர்களா?

And We taught him the art of making coats of mail for you to protect yourselves in your battle. Will you then be grateful?

Walisulaymana alrreeha AAasifatan tajree biamrihi ila alardi allatee barakna feeha wakunna bikulli shayin AAalimeena

And to Sulaimân (Solomon) (We subjected) the wind strongly raging, running by his command towards the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are All-Knower.

And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing.

ஸுலைமானுக்கு வேகமான காற்றையும் நாம் வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்திருந்தோம். அது அவருடைய உத்தரவின்படி மிக்க பாக்கியம் பெற்ற ஊருக்கு (அவரை எடுத்து)ச் செல்லும். எல்லா விஷயங்களையும் நாம் அறிந்திருந்தோம்.

இன்னும் ஸுலைமானுக்குக் கடுமையாக வீசும் காற்றையும் (நாம் வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்தோம்) அது, அவருடைய ஏவலின் படி, நாம் எந்த பூமியை பாக்கியமுடையதாக்கினோமோ (அந்த பூமிக்கும் அவரை எடுத்துச்) சென்றது; இவ்வாறு, ஒவ்வொரு பொருளையும் பற்றி நாம் அறிந்தோராகவே இருக்கின்றோம்.

ஸூலைமானுக்கு வேகமாக வீசும் காற்றையும் (நாம் வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்தோம்) அது அவருடைய கட்டளையின்படி, எந்த பூமியில் பாக்கியத்தை நாம் நல்கினோமோ அந்த பூமியின்பால் (அவரை எடுத்துச்) செல்லும், மேலும், ஒவ்வொரு பொருளைப் பற்றியும் நாம் அறிந்தோராக இருந்தோம்.

And to Solomon [We subjected] the raging wind, to blow by his command to the land We had blessed. It is We Who have full knowledge of everything.

Wamina alshshayateeni man yaghoosoona lahu wayaAAmaloona AAamalan doona thalika wakunna lahum hafitheena

And of the Shayâtîn (devils from the jinn) were some who dived for him, and did other work besides that; and it was We Who guarded them.

And of the devils were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian.

கடலில் மூழ்கி (முத்து, பவளம் போன்றவைகளைக் கொண்டு) வரக்கூடிய (மூர்க்க) ஷைத்தான்களையும் நாம் அவருக்கு வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்திருந்தோம். இதைத்தவிர (அவருக்கு அவசியமான) பல வேலைகளையும் அவை செய்து கொண்டு இருந்தன. நாம்தான் அவர்களைக் கண்காணித்து வந்தோம்.

இன்னும், ஷைத்தான்களிலிருந்தும் அவருக்காகக் (கடலில்) மூழ்கி வரக் கூடியவர்களை (நாம் வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்தோம்; இது தவிர) மற்ற வேலைகளையும் (அந்த ஷைத்தான்கள்) செய்யும்; அன்றியும் நாமே அவற்றைக் கண்காணித்து வந்தோம்.

ஷைத்தான்களிலிருந்து அவருக்காக கடலில் மூழ்கி (முத்துக்களை மற்றும் பவளங்களையும் கொண்டு) வரக்கூடியவர்களையும், (நாம் அவருக்கு வசப்படுத்திக் கொடுத்திருந்தோம்.) இது தவிர (அவருக்காக வேறு) வேலைகளையும் அவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தனர், மேலும், நாம்தாம் அவர்களைப் பாதுகாப்போராக இருந்தோம்.

And among the devils [We subjected] those who dived for him and performed other duties. It is We Who were watching over them.

Waayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya alddurru waanta arhamu alrrahimeena

And (remember) Ayyûb (Job), when he cried to his Lord: "Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy."

And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful."

ஐயூபையும் (நாம் நம்முடைய தூதராக அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.) அவர் தன் இறைவனை நோக்கி "நிச்சயமாக நோய் என்னைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டது. (அதை நீ நீக்கிவிடு.) நீயோ கிருபையாளர்களிலெல்லாம் மகா கிருபையாளன்" என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்தார்.

இன்னும், ஐயூப் தம் இறைவனிடம் “நிச்சயமாக என்னை (நோயினாலான) துன்பம் தீண்டியிருக்கிறது; (இறைவனே!) கிருபை செய்பவர்களிலெல்லாம் நீயே மிகக் கிருபை செய்பவனாக இருக்கின்றாய்” என்று பிரார்த்தித் போது,

(நபியே!) அய்யூபையும் (நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) அவர், தன் இரட்சகனிடம், “நிச்சயமாகத் துன்பம் என்னைப்பீடித்துக் கொண்டது, நீயோ கிருபையாளர்களிலெல்லாம் மிகக் கிருபையாளன்” என்று (பிரார்த்தனை செய்து) அழைத்தபோது,

And [remember] Job, when he cried out to his Lord, “I have been struck by adversity, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”

Faistajabna lahu fakashafna ma bihi min durrin waataynahu ahlahu wamithlahum maAAahum rahmatan min AAindina wathikra lilAAabideena

So We answered his call, and We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his family to him (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them as a mercy from Ourselves and a Reminder for all those who worship Us.

So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah].

ஆகவே, நாம் அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை அங்கீகரித்து, அவரைப் பீடித்திருந்த நோயையும் நீக்கி, அவருடைய குடும்பத்தையும் நாம் அவருக்கு அளித்து, நம் அருளால் பின்னும் அதைப் போன்ற தொகையினரையும் அவருக்குக் (குடும்பமாகக்) கொடுத்தோம். இஃது (எனக்குப் பயந்து) என்னை வணங்கு லிபவர்களுக்கு(ம் என்னிடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்பவர்களுக்கும்) நல்லுணர்ச்சியூட்டக் கூடியதாக இருக்கிறது.

நாம் அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டோம்; அவருக்கு ஏற்பட்டிருந்த துன்பத்தையும் நீக்கி விட்டோம்; அவருடைய குடும்பத்தையும், பின்னும் அதைப் போன்ற ஒரு தொகையினரையும் (அவருக்குக் குடும்பமாகக்) கொடுத்தோம் - இது நம்மிடத்திலிருந்துள்ள கிருபையாகவும் ஆபிதீன்களுக்கு (வணங்குபவர்களுக்கு) நினைவூட்டுதலாகவும் இருக்கிறது.

நாம் அவருக்கு பதிலளித்து, பின்னர், அவருக்கிருந்த துன்பத்தையும் நீக்கிவிட்டோம், அவருடைய குடும்பத்தையும், அவர்களுடன் அவர்களைப் போன்றவர்களையும் அவருக்கு நாம் கொடுத்தோம், இது நம்மிடத்திலிருந்துள்ள கிருபையாகவும் (நம்மை) வணங்குவோருக்கு நினைவூட்டுதலாகவும் இருக்கிறது.

So We responded to him and relieved his adversity, and We restored to him his family, twice as many, as a mercy from Us and as a reminder for Our worshipers.

WaismaAAeela waidreesa watha alkifli kullun mina alssabireena

And (remember) Isma'îl (Ishmael), Idrîs and Dhul-Kifl (Isaiah): all were from among As-Sâbirûn (the patient).

And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.

இஸ்மாயீலையும், இத்ரீஸையும், துல்கிப்லுவையும் (நாம் நம்முடைய தூதர்களாக அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.) இவர்கள் அனைவரும் (தங்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட கஷ்டங்களைச்) சகித்துக் கொண்டனர்.

இன்னும்: இஸ்மாயீலையும், இத்ரீஸையும், துல்கிஃப்லையும் (நபியே! நீர் நினைவு கூர்வீராக); அவர்கள் யாவரும் பொறுமையாளர்களில் நின்றுமுள்ளவர்களே!

இஸ்மாயீலையும், இத்ரீஸையும், துல்கிப்லுவையும்- (நபியே! நீர் நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) இவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும், பொறுமையாளர்களாக இருந்தனர்.

And [remember] Ishmael, Idrīs and Dhul-Kifl; they were all steadfast.

Waadkhalnahum fee rahmatina innahum mina alssaliheena

And We admitted them to Our Mercy. Verily, they were of the righteous.

And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.

ஆகவே, இவர்கள் அனைவரையும் நாம் நம்முடைய அருளில் புகுத்தினோம். ஏனென்றால், நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் அனைவரும் நல்லோர்களே.

இவர்கள் (எல்லோரையும்) நாம் நம் கிருபையில் புகுத்திக் கொண்டோம், நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் (ஸாலிஹீன்களான) நல்லடியார்களில் நின்றுமுள்ளவர்களே!

இன்னும், அவர்களை நாம் நம்முடைய அருளில் புகுத்திக்கொண்டோம், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் நல்லோர்களில் உள்ளவராவார்கள்.

And We admitted them to Our mercy, for they were truly righteous.

Watha alnnooni ith thahaba mughadiban fathanna an lan naqdira AAalayhi fanada fee alththulumati an la ilaha illa anta subhanaka innee kuntu mina alththalimeena

And (remember) Dhun-Nûn [Yûnus (Jonah)], when he went off in anger, and imagined that We shall not punish him (i.e. the calamities which had befallen him)! But he cried through the darkness (saying): "Lâ ilâhâ illâ Anta [none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allâh)], Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]! Truly, I have been of the wrong doers."

And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

(யூனுஸ் நபியாகிய) துன்னூனையும் (நம்முடைய தூதராக ஆக்கினோம்.) அவர் கோபமாகச் சென்ற சமயத்தில் நாம் அவரைப் பிடித்துக் கொள்ள மாட்டோம் என்று எண்ணிக்கொண்டார். (ஆதலால், அவரை ஒரு மீன் விழுங்கும்படிச் செய்து மீன் வயிற்றின்) இருளிலிருந்த அவர் (நம்மை நோக்கி) "உன்னைத் தவிர வணக்கத்திற்குரிய இறைவன் வேறொருவனும் இல்லை. நீ மிகப் பரிசுத்தமானவன். நிச்சயமாக நானோ அநியாயக்காரர்களில் ஒருவனாகிவிட்டேன். (என்னை மன்னித்து அருள் புரிவாயாக!)" என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்தார்.

இன்னும் (நினைவு கூர்வீராக:) துன்னூன் (யூனுஸ் தம் சமூகத்தவரை விட்டும்) கோபமாக வெளியேறிய போது, (பாவிகள் சமூகத்தை விட்டும் வெளியேறி விட்ட படியால்) அவரை நாம் நெருக்கடியில் ஆக்கமாட்டோம் என்று எண்ணிக் கொண்டார்; எனவே அவர் (மீன் வயிற்றின்) ஆழ்ந்த இருளிலிருந்து “உன்னைத் தவிர வணக்கத்திற்குரிய நாயன் யாருமில்லை; நீ மிகவும் தூய்மையானவன்; நிச்சயமக நான் அநியாயக்காரர்களில் ஒருவனாகி விட்டேன்” என்று பிரார்த்தித்தார்.

துன்னூனையும் (யூனுஸ் நபியாகிய மீனுடையவரை நபியே! நினைவு கூர்வீராக! தம் சமூகத்தாரைவிட்டு)- அவர் கோபமாக வெளியேறிய சமயத்தில், (நாம் அவரைப் பிடித்து) நெருக்கடிக்குள்ளாக்கி (தண்டித்து) விட மாட்டோம் என்று எண்ணிக் கொண்டார்; (ஆகவே மீன் வயிற்றின்) இருள்களில் “(நெருக்கடிக்குள்ளான அவர்,) உன்னைத் தவிர வணக்கத்திற்குரிய நாயன் (வேறு ஒருவனும்) இல்லை; நீ மிகப் பரிசுத்தமானவன்; நிச்சயமாக நான் அநியாயக்காரர்களில் (ஒருவனாக) ஆகிவிட்டேன்;” என்று (பிரார்த்தனை செய்து) அழைத்தார்.

And [remember] the Man of the Whale [Jonah] when he departed in anger, thinking that We would not take him to task. Then he cried out in the depths of darkness, “None has the right to be worshiped except You. Glory be to You! I have certainly done wrong”.

Faistajabna lahu wanajjaynahu mina alghammi wakathalika nunjee almumineena

So, We answered his call, and delivered him from the distress. And thus We do deliver the believers (who believe in the Oneness of Allâh, abstain from evil and work righteousness).

So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.

நாம் அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை அங்கீகரித்து (அவருடைய மிக்க துயரமான) கஷ்டத்திலிருந்தும் அவரை நாம் பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டோம். இவ்வாறே, (கஷ்டத்தில் சிக்கி நம்மிடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்யும்) நம்பிக்கையாளர்களையும் நாம் பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்வோம்.

எனவே, நாம் அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டோம்; அவரைத் துக்கத்திலிருந்தும் விடுவித்தோம். இவ்வாறே முஃமின்களையும் விடுவிப்போம்.

பின்னர், அவருக்கு நாம் பதிலளித்தோம், (அவருடைய) துக்கத்திலிருந்து அவரை நாம் (விடுவித்துக்) காப்பாற்றினோம், இவ்வாறே விசுவாசிகளையும் நாம் காப்பாற்றுவோம்.

So We answered his prayer and rescued him from distress. This is how We rescue the believers.

Wazakariyya ith nada rabbahu rabbi la tatharnee fardan waanta khayru alwaritheena

And (remember) Zakariyyâ (Zechariah), when he cried to his Lord: "O My Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the inheritors."

And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors."

ஜகரிய்யாவையும் (தூதராக அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்.) அவர் தன் இறைவனை நோக்கி "என் இறைவனே! நீ என்னை(ச் சந்ததியற்ற) தனித்தவனாக ஆக்கிவிடாதே! நீயோ வாரிசாகக்கூடிய வர்களில் மிக்க மேலானவன்" என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்த சமயத்தில்,

இன்னும் ஜகரிய்யா தம் இறைவனிடம் “என் இறைவா! நீ என்னை (சந்ததியில்லாமல்) ஒற்றையாக விட்டு விடாதே! நீயோ அனந்தரங்கொள்வோரில் மிகவும் மேலானவன்” என்று பிரார்த்தித் போது:

ஜகரிய்யாவையும் (நபியே! நீர் நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) அவர் தன் இரட்சகனை அழைத்து, “என் இரட்சகனே! என்னை(ச் சந்ததியில்லாது) தனித்தவனாக நீ விட்டுவிடாதே! நீயோ, வாரிசுரிமை கொள்வோரில் மிக்க மேலானவன்” என்று (பிரார்த்தனை செய்த) சமயத்தில்,

And [remember] Zachariah, when he cried out to his Lord, “My Lord, do not leave me childless, for You are the Best of Inheritors.”

Faistajabna lahu wawahabna lahu yahya waaslahna lahu zawjahu innahum kanoo yusariAAoona fee alkhayrati wayadAAoonana raghaban warahaban wakanoo lana khashiAAeena

So, We answered his call, and We bestowed upon him Yahyâ (John), and cured his wife (to bear a child) for him. Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us.

So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.

நாம் அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை அங்கீகரித்து (மலடாக இருந்த) அவருடைய மனைவியை குணப்படுத்தி, யஹ்யாவை அவருக்கு(ச் சந்ததியாகக்) கொடுத்தோம். நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் அனைவரும் நன்மையான காரியங்களைச் செய்வதில் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் முந்திக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். (நம்முடைய அருளை) விரும்பியும் (நம்முடைய தண்டனையைப்) பயந்தும் நம்மிடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இவர்கள் அனைவரும் நம்மிடம் மிக்க உள்ளச்சமுடையவர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள்.

நாம் அவருடைய பிரார்த்தனையை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டோம்; அவருக்காக அவருடைய மனைவியை (மலட்டுத் தனத்தை நீக்கி) சுகப்படுத்தி, அவருக்கு யஹ்யாவையும் அளித்தோம்; நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் யாவரும் நன்மைகள் செய்வதில் விரைபவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள் - இன்னும், அவர்கள் நம்மை ஆசை கொண்டும், பயத்தோடும் பிரார்த்தித்தார்கள். மேலும், அவர்கள் நம்மிடம் உள்ளச்சம் கொண்டவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்.

நாம் அவருக்கு பதில் கூறினோம், யஹ்யாவை அவருக்கு (மகனாக)க் கொடுத்தோம், இன்னும், (மலடாக இருந்த) அவருடைய மனைவியை (மகப்பேறுபெற) சீராக்கினோம், நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் யாவரும், நன்மைகளில் (மிகத்துரிதமாக) விரைபவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள், (நம்முடைய அருளை) ஆசித்தும், (நம் தண்டனையைப்) பயந்தும், நம்மை (பிரார்த்தனை செய்து) அழைப்பவர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள்; இன்னும் அவர்கள் (யாவரும்) நம்மிடம் உள்ளச்சமுடையோர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள்.

So We answered his prayer and gave him John, and made his wife fertile. They used to hasten in doing good deeds and used to call upon Us with hope and fear, and they were humble before Us.

Waallatee ahsanat farjaha fanafakhna feeha min roohina wajaAAalnaha waibnaha ayatan lilAAalameena

And she who guarded her chastity [Virgin Maryam (Mary)], We breathed into (the sleeves of) her (shirt or garment) through Our Rûh [Jibrâîl (Gabriel)], and We made her and her son ['خsâ (Jesus)] a sign for Al-'آlamîn (mankind and jinn).

And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity, so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.

தன் கற்பைக் காத்துக்கொண்ட (மர்யம் என்ப)வரை(யும் நீங்கள் ஞாபகமூட்டுங்கள். நம்முடைய தூதர்) ஜிப்ரயீல் மூலம் அவருடைய கர்ப்பத்தில் நாம் ஊதினோம். அவரையும் அவருடைய மகனையும் உலகத்தாருக்கு ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாகவும் ஆக்கினோம்.

இன்னும் தம் கற்பைக் காத்துக் கொண்ட (மர்யம் என்ப)வரைப் பற்றி (நபியே! நினைவு கூரும்); எனினும், நம் ஆன்மாவிலிருந்து நாம் அவரில் ஊதி அவரையும், அவர் புதல்வரையும் அகிலத்தாருக்கு ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாகவும் ஆக்கினோம்.

தன் கற்பைக் காத்துக்கொண்ட (மர்யம் என்ப)வரையும் (நீர் நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) நம் ஆன்மாவிலிருந்து அவரில் நாம் ஊதினோம், அவரையும், அவருடைய மகனையும் அகிலத்தார்க்கு ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாகவும் நாம் ஆக்கினோம்.

And [remember Mary] who guarded her chastity; We breathed in her through Our spirit [Gabriel], and made her and her son a sign for all people.

Inna hathihi ommatukum ommatan wahidatan waana rabbukum faoAAbudooni

Truly, this, your Ummah [Sharî'ah or religion (Islâmic Monotheism)] is one religion, and I am your Lord, therefore worship Me (Alone). (Tafsîr Ibn Kathîr)

Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.

(நம்பிக்கையாளர்களே!) நீங்கள் அனைவரும் (ஒரே மார்க்கத்தைப் பின்பற்ற வேண்டிய) ஒரே வகுப்பார்தான். (இதில் ஜாதி வேற்றுமை கிடையாது.) உங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இறைவன் நான் ஒருவனே! ஆகவே, என்னையே நீங்கள் வணங்குங்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக உங்கள் “உம்மத்து” - சமுதாயம் - (வேற்றுமை ஏதுமில்லா) ஒரே சமுதாயம் தான்; மேலும் நானே உங்கள் இறைவன். ஆகையால், என்னையே நீங்கள் வணங்குங்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக (உங்களுக்குத் தெளிவு செய்யப்பட்ட) இது ஒரே மார்க்கமான உங்களுடைய மார்க்கமாகும், மேலும் நான்(தான்) உங்கள் இரட்சகன், ஆகவே என்னையே வணங்குங்கள்.

Indeed, this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me alone.

WataqattaAAoo amrahum baynahum kullun ilayna rajiAAoona

But they have broken up and differed as regards their religion among themselves. (And) they all shall return to Us.

And [yet] they divided their affair among themselves, [but] all to Us will return.

எனினும் இவர்கள் தங்களுக்குள் (வேறுபட்டு) பல பிரிவுகளாக பிரிந்துவிட்டனர். இவர்கள் அனைவரும் நம்மிடம் திரும்ப வரக்கூடியவர்கள்தான்.

(பின்னர்) அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கிடையே தங்கள் (மார்க்க) காரியங்களில் பிளவுபட்டனர். அனைவரும் நம்மிடமே மீள்பவர்கள்.  

தங்களது (மார்க்கக்)காரியத்தில் அவர்களுக்கு மத்தியில் அவர்கள் பிளவுபட்டும் விட்டனர், இவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் நம்மிடம் திரும்ப வரக்கூடியவர்கள்.

But people have divided themselves into sects; yet they will all return to Us.

Faman yaAAmal mina alssalihati wahuwa muminun fala kufrana lisaAAyihi wainna lahu katiboona

So, whoever does righteous good deeds while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Monotheism), his efforts will not be rejected. Verily, We record it for him (in his Book of deeds).

So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort, and indeed We, of it, are recorders.

ஆகவே, (இவர்களில்) எவர்கள் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டு நற்செயல்களைச் செய்கின்றார்களோ அவர்களுடைய முயற்சி வீணாகிவிடாது. நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவைகளைப் பதிவு செய்து வருகிறோம்.

எனவே, எவர் முஃமினாக, நல்ல அமல்களை செய்கிறாரோ அவருடைய முயற்சி வீணாகி விடாது. நிச்சயமாக நாமே அதை (அவருக்காக)ப் பதிவு செய்து வைக்கிறோம்.

ஆகவே, (இவர்களில்) எவர் விசுவாசங்கொண்டவராக, நற்கருமங்களைச் செய்கின்றாரோ, அவருடைய முயற்சி மறுப்பிற்குரியதல்ல, நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவருக்காக (அவரின் செயல்களை) பதிவு செய்வோராய் இருக்கின்றோம்.

Whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer, his efforts will not be denied, for We are recording them all.

Waharamun AAala qaryatin ahlaknaha annahum la yarjiAAoona

And a ban is laid on every town (population) which We have destroyed that they shall not return (to this world again, nor repent to Us).

And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return

நாம் எவ்வூரார்களை அழித்துவிட்டோமோ அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாக (உலகிற்கு) திரும்பவே மாட்டார்கள் என விதிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது.

நாம் எவ்வூரார்களை அழித்து விட்டோமோ அவர்கள் (திரும்பவும் இவ்வுலகம் வருவது) தடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது; நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் திரும்ப மாட்டார்கள்.

மேலும், எதனை நாம் அழித்துவிட்டோமோ அவ்வூ(ரா)ர் மீது (அவர்கள் உலகிற்குத் திரும்புவது) தடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது, நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் திரும்பமாட்டார்கள்.

It is not possible for any town that We have destroyed to ever come back [to this world],

Hatta itha futihat yajooju wamajooju wahum min kulli hadabin yansiloona

Until, when Ya'jûj and Ma'jûj (Gog and Magog people) are let loose (from their barrier), and they swoop down from every mound.

Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend

யஃஜூஜ், மஃஜூஜ் கூட்டத்திற்கு வழி திறக்கப்பட்டால் அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு மேட்டிலிருந்தும் (தண்ணீர் பாய்ந்து ஓடுவதைப் போல்) வழிந்து (உலகின் பல பாகங்களிலும் அதி சீக்கிரத்தில் பரவி) விடுவார்கள்.

யஃஜூஜு, மஃஜூஜு (கூட்டத்தார்)க்கு வழி திறக்கப்படும் போது, அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு மேட்டிலிருந்தும் இறங்கிப் பரவுவார்கள்.

கடைசியாக, யாஜூஜு, மாஜூஜுக்(கூட்டத்திற்)கு (வழி) திறக்கப்பட்டால், அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு மேட்டிலிருந்தும் இறங்கி (குழப்பம் விளைவிக்க உலகின் பல பாகங்களிலும்) விரைவார்கள்.

until when Gog and Magog are let loose, swarming swiftly from every mound,

Waiqtaraba alwaAAdu alhaqqu faitha hiya shakhisatun absaru allatheena kafaroo ya waylana qad kunna fee ghaflatin min hatha bal kunna thalimeena

And the true promise (Day of Resurrection) shall draw near (of fulfillment). Then (when mankind is resurrected from the graves), you shall see the eyes of the disbelievers fixedly staring in horror. (They will say:) "Woe to us! We were indeed heedless of this – nay, but we were Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong doers)."

And [when] the true promise has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."

(உலக முடிவு பற்றிய) உண்மையான வாக்குறுதி நெருங்கிவிட்டது. (அது வரும் பட்சத்தில் அதைக் காணும்) நிராகரிப்பவர்களின் கண்கள் திறந்தது திறந்தவாறே இருக்கும். (அன்றி அவர்கள்) "எங்களுக்குக் கேடுதான். நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் இதனைப்பற்றி கவலையற்றவர்களாக இருந்தோமே! எங்களுக்கு நாங்களே தீங்கிழைத்துக் கொண்டோமே!" (என்று புலம்புவார்கள்).

(இறுதி நாளைப் பற்றிய) உண்மையான வாக்குறுதி நெருங்கினால், (அதைக்காணும்) காஃபிர்களின் கண்கள் திறந்தபடியே நிலைகுத்தி நின்று விடும்; (அன்றியும் அவர்கள்:) “எங்களுக்கு கேடு தான்! நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் இதை உதாசீனப்படுத்தியவர்களாகவே இருந்துவிட்டோம்; - அது மட்டுமில்லை - நாம் அநியாயம் செய்தவர்களாகவும் இருந்து விட்டோம்” (என்று கூறுவார்கள்).

(மறுமை நாள் பற்றிய) உண்மையான வாக்குறுதி நெருங்கியும் விட்டது, எனவே, (அது வந்துவிட்டால்) நிராகரிப்போரின் கண்கள் திறந்தது திறந்தவாறே இருக்கும், (அப்பொழுது) “எங்களுடைய கேடே! திட்டமாக நாம் இதனைப் பற்றி மறந்தவர்களாக இருந்துவிட்டோம், அதுமட்டுமல்லாது நாங்கள் அநியாயக்காரர்களாகவுமிருந்தோம்” (என்று கூறுவார்கள்)

when the True Promise draws near, the eyes of those who disbelieved will stare in horror, [saying], “Woe to us! We were indeed heedless of this; nay, we were wrongdoers.”

Innakum wama taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi hasabu jahannama antum laha waridoona

Certainly you (disbelievers) and that which you are worshipping now besides Allâh, are (but) fuel for Hell! (Surely) you will enter it.

Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.

(அச்சமயம் அவர்களை நோக்கி) "நிச்சயமாக நீங்களும், நீங்கள் வணங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்த அல்லாஹ் அல்லாதவைகளும் நரகத்தின் எரிகட்டையாகி விட்டீர்கள். நீங்கள் அனைவரும் அங்கு செல்ல வேண்டியவர்கள்தாம்" (என்று கூறப்படும்).

நிச்சயமாக நீங்களும், அல்லாஹ்வை அன்றி நீங்கள் வணங்கியவையும் நரகத்திற்கு விறகுகளே! நீங்கள் (யாவரும்) நரகத்திற்கு வந்து சேர்பவர்களே! (என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்படும்.)

(அப்போது அவர்களிடம்) நிச்சயமாக நீங்களும் அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி (நீங்கள்) வணங்கியவைகளும் நரகத்தின் விறகுகளே! நீங்கள் யாவரும் அதற்கு வரவேண்டியவர்களாவர் (என்று கூறப்படும்.)

Indeed, you and all that you worship besides Allah will be the fuel for Hell; you will surely enter it.

Law kana haolai alihatan ma waradooha wakullun feeha khalidoona

Had these (idols) been âlihah (gods), they would not have entered there (Hell), and all of them will abide therein forever.

Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.

(அவர்கள் வணங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்த) இவை (உண்மையான) தெய்வங்களாக இருந்தால் நரகத்திற்கு வந்தே இருக்காது. எனினும், அவர்கள் அனைவரும் (நரகத்தில் தள்ளப்பட்டு) என்றென்றும் அதில் தங்கிவிடுவார்கள்.

இவை தெய்வங்களாக இருந்திருந்தால், (அந் நரகத்திற்கு) வந்து சேர்ந்திருக்க மாட்டா; இன்னும் அனைவரும் அதில் நிரந்தரமாயிருப்பர்.

(அவர்களால் வணங்கப்பட்ட) இவை வணக்கத்திற்குரியவர்களாக இருந்தால், அதன் (அந்நரகத்தின்) பால் வந்திருக்கமாட்டா, இன்னும், அவர்கள் யாவரும் நிரந்தரமாக (நரகமாகிய) அதில் (தங்கி) இருப்பவர்கள்.

If these [idols] had truly been gods, they would not have entered it. But they will all abide therein forever.

Lahum feeha zafeerun wahum feeha la yasmaAAoona

Therein they will be breathing out with deep sighs and roaring and therein they will hear not.

For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.

அதில் அவர்கள் திணறித் திணறிக் (கழுதையைப் போல்) கதறுவார்கள். (மற்றெவரின் சப்தமும்) அவர்கள் காதில் விழாது.

அதில் அவர்களுக்கு வேதனை முனக்கம் இருக்கிறது. மேலும் அவர்கள் அதிலே (எதனையும்) செவியுறமாட்டார்கள்.

அதில் அவர்களுக்கு (வேதனையின் கடினம் காரணமாக) விம்மிக்கதறுதல் உண்டு, மேலும், அங்கு அவர்கள் (வேறு) எதையும் செவியுறமாட்டார்கள்.

They will groan therein with anguish, and they will not be able to hear anything.

Inna allatheena sabaqat lahum minna alhusna olaika AAanha mubAAadoona

Verily, those for whom the good has preceded from Us, they will be removed far therefrom (Hell) [e.g. 'خsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary); 'Uzair (Ezra)].

Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.

ஏற்கனவே நம்மால் எவர்களுக்கு நன்மைகள் எழுதப்பட்டு விட்டதோ அவர்கள், நிச்சயமாக நரகத்திற்கு வெகு தூரமாக இருப்பார்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக, எவர்களுக்கு நம்மிடமிருந்து (மறுமைப் பேற்றுக்கான) நன்மைகள் முன் சென்றிருக்கிறதோ, அவர்கள் அ(ந் நரகத்)திலிருந்து வெகு தொலைவில் இருப்பார்கள்.

நிச்சயமாக எவர்களுக்கு நம்மிடமிருந்து நன்மை முந்திவிட்டதோ அத்தகையோர்-அவர்கள் அ(ந்நரகத்)தைவிட்டும் தூரமாக்கப்பட்டவர்களாவர்.

But those for whom We have decreed the finest reward, they will be far away from it.

La yasmaAAoona haseesaha wahum fee ma ishtahat anfusuhum khalidoona

They shall not hear the slightest sound of it (Hell), while they abide in that which their own selves desire.

They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.

அதன் இரைச்சலையும் அவர்கள் (தங்கள் காதால்) கேட்கமாட்டார்கள். அன்றி, அவர்கள் தாங்கள் விரும்பிய சுகபோகங்களை(ச் சுவனபதியில்) என்றென்றும் அனுபவித்துக் கொண்டிருப்பார்கள்.

(இத்தகைய சுவர்க்கவாசிகள் நரகின்) கூச்சலைக் கேட்கமாட்டார்கள்; தாம் விரும்பும் இன்பத்திலேயே அவர்கள் என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருப்பார்கள்.

(நரகமாகிய) அதன் (அசைவின்) சப்தத்தை(க்கூட) அவர்கள் (தங்கள் காதால்) கேட்கமாட்டார்கள், அன்றியும் அவர்கள் தங்களின் மனங்கள் விரும்பிய (சுகபோகங்களைச் சுவைப்ப)தில் நிரந்தரமாக இருப்பவர்கள்.

They will not hear its slightest hissing, and they will abide forever in whatever their souls desire.

La yahzunuhumu alfazaAAu alakbaru watatalaqqahumu almalaikatu hatha yawmukumu allathee kuntum tooAAadoona

The greatest terror (on the Day of Resurrection) will not grieve them, and the angels will meet them, (with the greeting:) "This is your Day which you were promised."

They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -

(மறுமையில் ஏற்படும்) பெரும் திடுக்கமும் அவர்களை துக்கத்திற்குள்ளாக்காது. (அச்சமயம்) மலக்குகள் அவர்களை எதிர்கொண்டழைத்து "உங்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட (நல்ல) நாள் இதுதான்" (என்று நற்செய்தி கூறுவார்கள்).

(அந்நாளில் ஏற்படும்) பெரும் திகில் அவர்களை வருத்தாது, மலக்குகள் அவர்களைச் சந்தித்து: “உங்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட நாள் இதுதான்” (என்று கூறுவார்கள்).

(மறுமைநாளில்) மாபெரும் திடுக்கம், அவர்களை கவலைக்குள்ளாக்காது, மேலும், மலக்குகள் அவர்களை எதிர்கொண்டழைத்து, நீங்கள் வாக்களிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தீர்களே, அத்தகைய உங்களுடைய நாள் இதுதான் (என்று கூறுவார்கள்)

They will not be grieved by the Greatest Terror, and the angels will receive them [saying], “This is your Day that you were promised”.

Yawma natwee alssamaa katayyi alssijlli lilkutubi kama badana awwala khalqin nuAAeeduhu waAAdan AAalayna inna kunna faAAileena

And (remember) the Day when We shall roll up the heaven like a scroll rolled up for books. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it.

The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.

எழுதப்பட்ட கடிதத்தைச் சுருட்டுவதைப் போல் நாம் வானத்தைச் சுருட்டும் நாளை (நபியே!) நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு ஞாபகமூட்டுங்கள். முதல் தடவை நாம் அவர்களை படைத்தது போன்றே (அந்நாளில்) நாம் (அவர்களுக்கு உயிர் கொடுத்து) அவர்களை மீள வைப்போம். இது நம்மீது கடமையானதொரு வாக்குறுதியாகும். நிச்சயமாக நாம் இதனைச் செய்தே தீருவோம்.

எழுதப்பட்ட ஏடுகளைச் சுருட்டுவதைப் போல் வானத்தை நாம் சுருட்டிவிடும் அந்நாளை (நபியே! நினைவூட்டுவீராக!); முதலில் படைப்புகளைப் படைத்தது போன்றே, (அந்நாளில்) அதனை மீட்டுவோம்; இது நம் மீது வாக்குறுதியாகும்; நிச்சயமக நாம் இதனை செய்வோம்.

(நபியே!) எழுதப்பட்ட (பெரும்) ஏடுகளைச் சுருட்டுவதைப்போல, நாம் வானத்தைச் சுருட்டிவிடும் நாளை (நினைவு கூர்வீராக!) முதல் படைப்பை நாம் ஆரம்பித்தது போன்றே அதை நாம் (திரும்பவும்) மீளவைப்போம், (இது) நம் மீது கட்டாயமான வாக்குறுதியாகும், நிச்சயமாக நாம் (இதை) செய்வோராய் இருக்கிறோம்.

On the Day when We roll up the heavens like a scroll of records. Just as We originated the first creation, so We will bring it back. That is Our binding promise, which We will surely do.

Walaqad katabna fee alzzaboori min baAAdi alththikri anna alarda yarithuha AAibadiya alssalihoona

And indeed We have written in Az-Zabûr [i.e. all the revealed Holy Books the Taurât (Torah), the Injîl (Gospel), the Psalms, the Qur'ân] after (We have already written in) Adh-Dhikr [Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz (the Book that is in the heaven with Allâh)] that My righteous slaves shall inherit the land (i.e. the land of Paradise).

And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் "ஜபூர்" என்னும் வேதத்தில், நல்லுபதேசங் களுக்குப் பின்னர் எழுதியிருக்கிறோம். நிச்சயமாக பூமிக்கு என்னுடைய அடியார்களில் நன்நடத்தை உடையவர்கள்தாம் வாரிசாவார்கள் என்று.

நிச்சயமாக நாம் ஜபூர் வேதத்தில், (முந்திய வேதத்தைப் பற்றி) நினைவூட்டிய பின்: “நிச்சயமாக பூமியை (ஸாலிஹான) என்னுடைய நல்லடியார்கள் வாரிசாக அடைவார்கள் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறோம்.

மேலும், நிச்சயமாக நாம் ஜபூர் (என்னும்) வேதத்தில் நல்லுபதேசங்களுக்குப் பின்னர், “நிச்சயமாக பூமியை என்னுடைய நல்லடியார்கள்தாம் அதை வாரிசாக அடைவார்கள்” என்று எழுதிவிட்டோம்.

We have written in the Psalms after the Preserved Record, that the land will be inherited by My righteous slaves.

Inna fee hatha labalaghan liqawmin AAabideena

Verily, in this (the Qur'ân) there is a plain Message for people who worship Allâh (i.e. the true, real believers of Islâmic Monotheism who act practically on the Qur'ân and the Sunnah – legal ways of the Prophet ).

Indeed, in this [Qur'an] is notification for a worshipping people.

என்னையே வணங்குபவர்களுக்கு நிச்சயமாக இதில் ஒரு நற்செய்தி இருக்கிறது.

வணங்கும் மக்களுக்கு இதில் (இக்குர்ஆனில்) நிச்சயமாகப் போதுமான (வழிகாட்டுதல்) இருக்கிறது.

(இரட்சகனையே)! வணங்குகின்ற சமூகத்தார்களுக்கு, நிச்சயமாக இதில் (வழிகாட்டல்களைக் கொண்ட அத்தாட்சிகள்) போதுமானது உள்ளது.

Indeed, there is a message in this [Qur’an] for devoted worshipers.

Wama arsalnaka illa rahmatan lilAAalameena

And We have sent you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) not but as a mercy for the 'آlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.

(நபியே!) உங்களை உலகத்தாருக்கு ஓர் அருளாகவேயன்றி நாம் அனுப்பவில்லை."

(நபியே!) நாம் உம்மை அகிலத்தாருக்கு எல்லாம் ரஹ்மத்தாக - ஓர் அருட் கொடையாகவேயன்றி அனுப்பவில்லை.

(நபியே!) உம்மை அகிலத்தார்க்கு ஓர் அருளாகவேயன்றி நாம் அனுப்பவில்லை.

We have not sent you [O Prophet] except as a mercy to the worlds.

Qul innama yooha ilayya annama ilahukum ilahun wahidun fahal antum muslimoona

Say (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]): "It is revealed to me that your Ilâh (God) is only one Ilâh (God – Allâh). Will you then submit to His Will (become Muslims and stop worshipping others besides Allâh)?"

Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"

(ஆகவே) நீங்கள் கூறுங்கள்: "எனக்கு வஹ்யி அறிவிக்கப்படுவதெல்லாம் உங்களுடைய "வணக்கத்திற்குரிய இறைவன் ஒரே ஒருவன்" என்றுதான். ஆகவே, நீங்கள் அவனுக்கு முற்றிலும் கட்டுப்பட்டு நடப்பீர்களாக!

“எனக்கு வஹீ அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதெல்லாம்: “உங்கள் நாயன் ஒரே நாயன் தான்” என்பதுதான்; ஆகவே நீங்கள் அவனுக்கு வழிப்பட்டு நடப்பீர்களா?” (என்று நபியே!) நீர் கேட்பீராக!

(எனவே) நீர் கூறுவீராக! “எனக்கு வஹீ அறிவிக்கப்படுவதெல்லாம், உங்களுடைய (வணக்கத்திற்குரிய) நாயன் ஒரே ஒரு நாயன் என்று தான், ஆகவே நீங்கள் (அவனுக்கு) முற்றிலும் வழிப்பட்டு (முஸ்லீம்களாக) நடப்பீர்களா?

Say, “It is only revealed to me that your God is only One God; will you then submit to Him?

Fain tawallaw faqul athantukum AAala sawain wain adree aqareebun am baAAeedun ma tooAAadoona

But if they (disbelievers, idolaters, Jews, Christians, polytheists) turn away (from Islâmic Monotheism) say (to them O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]): "I give you a notice (of war as) to be known to us all alike. And I know not whether that which you are promised (i.e. the torment or the Day of Resurrection) is near or far."

But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.

(நபியே!) அவர்கள் புறக்கணித்து விட்டாலோ (அவர்களை நோக்கி) "நான் (என்னுடைய தூதை) உங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் சமமாக எடுத்துரைத்து விட்டேன். உங்களுக்குப் பயமுறுத்தப்படும் வேதனை (வந்தே தீரும். எனினும், அது) சமீபத்தில் இருக்கிறதா தூரத்திலிருக்கிறதா என்பதை நான் அறியமாட்டேன்" என்று கூறிவிடுங்கள்.

ஆனால், அவர்கள் புறக்கணித்து விடுவார்களாயின் “நான் உங்கள் (எல்லோருக்கும்) சமமாக அறிவித்துவிட்டேன்; இன்னும், உங்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப் பட்ட (வேதனையான)து சமீபத்திலிருக்கிறதா அல்லது தூரத்தில் இருக்கிறதா என்பதை நான் அறியமாட்டேன்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் சொல்லிவிடுவீராக.

“எனவே அவர்கள் (இதைப்) புறக்கணித்துவிட்டால், நான் (என்னுடைய தூதை) உங்கள் யாவருக்கும் சமமாக அறிவித்துவிட்டேன், நீங்கள் வாக்களிக்கப்பட்டது (வேதனையான அது) சமீபத்திலிருக்கிறதா, அல்லது தூரத்திலிருக்கிறதா என்பதை நான் அறியமாட்டேன்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக!

But if they turn away, say, “I have proclaimed the message to you all alike, and I do not know whether what you are warned of is near or far.

Innahu yaAAlamu aljahra mina alqawli wayaAAlamu ma taktumoona

(Say O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]:) "Verily, He (Allâh) knows that which is spoken aloud (openly) and that which you conceal.

Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.

நிச்சயமாக (என் இறைவன்) நீங்கள் (வாயால்) சப்தமிட்டுப் பேசுவதையும் (உங்கள் உள்ளங்களில் அதற்கு மாறாக) மறைத்து வைத்திருப்பதையும் அறிந்து கொள்கிறான்.

வெளிப்படையாக (நீங்கள் பேசும்) பேச்சையும் அவன் நிச்சயமாக அறிகிறான்; நீங்கள் (இருதயத்தில்) மறைத்து வைப்பதையும் அவன் (நிச்சயமாக) அறிகிறான் (என்றும்)

“நிச்சயமாக (என் இரட்சகனாகிய) அவன் சொல்லில் பகிரங்கமானதை அறிகிறான், (அதற்கு மாறாக) நீங்கள் மறைத்து வைத்திருப்பதையும் அறிந்து கொள்கிறான்”

Indeed, He knows what is said openly and knows what you conceal.

Wain adree laAAallahu fitnatun lakum wamataAAun ila heenin

"And I know not, perhaps it may be a trial for you, and an enjoyment for a while."

And I know not; perhaps it is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."

(அன்றி, இதுவரையில் வேதனை செய்யாது) உங்களை விட்டு வைத்திருப்பது உங்களைச் சோதிப்பதற்காகவோ அல்லது குறித்த காலம் வரையில் நீங்கள் வாழ்ந்திருப்பதற்காகவோ என்பதை நான் அறியேன்.

இந்த தாமதம் உங்களுக்கு சோதனையாகவும் குறிப்பட்ட காலம் வரை சுகம் அனுபவிப்பதற்காகவும் இருக்குமா என்பதை நான் அறியமாட்டேன்.

“இன்னும் (உங்களுக்கு வேதனையை பிற்படுத்தி வைத்திருப்பதான) அது உங்களுக்குச் சோதனையாகவும், சிறிதுகாலம் வரை (நீங்கள்) சுகம் அனுபவிப்பதற்காகவும் இருக்கலாமோ என்பதையும் நான் அறியமாட்டேன் (என்றும் கூறுவீராக!)

I do not know; perhaps this [delay] is a test for you and an enjoyment for a while.”

Qala rabbi ohkum bialhaqqi warabbuna alrrahmanu almustaAAanu AAala ma tasifoona

He (Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) said: "My Lord! Judge You in truth! Our Lord is the Most Gracious, Whose Help is to be sought against that which you attribute (to Allâh that He has offspring, and to Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] that he is a sorcerer, and to the Qur'ân that it is poetry)!"

[The Prophet] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."

(மேலும் முஹம்மது) கூறினார்: "என் இறைவனே! (எனக்கும் இந்நிராகரிப்பவர்களுக்கும் இடையில்) நீ நீதமான தீர்ப்பளிப்பாயாக! எங்கள் இறைவன்தான் பேரருளாளன். உங்களுடைய (பொய்யான) கூற்றுகளுக்கு எதிராக அவனிடமே உதவி தேடுகிறோம்."

என் இறைவா! சத்தியத் தீர்ப்பு வழங்குவாயாக! என்று கூறினார். எங்கள் இறைவனோ அளவற்ற அருளாளன். நீங்கள் வர்ணிப்பதற்கு எதிராக உதவி தேடப்படுபவன்.

(மேலும்) “என் இரட்சகனே! (எனக்கும், சத்தியத்தைப் பொய்யாக்கியோருக்குமிடையில்) சத்தியத்தீர்ப்பு வழங்குவாயாக!” என்று கூறினார், எங்கள் இரட்சகனோ பேரருளாளன், நீங்கள் (பொய்யாக) வர்ணிப்பவைகளுக்கெதிராக உதவி தேடப்படுபவன்.

[The Prophet] said, “My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. Our Lord is the Most Compassionate Whose help is to be sought against what you describe.”
